Christmas Decorations at resorts

I used to live in Orlando years ago and one of my favorite things to do was just visit the resorts to see how they were decorated. Now for the 1st time in 12 years I'll be visiting in December just for a long weekend with my daughter (whom I did not have yet when I lived there) and was wondering since I'll only be there 4 days and of course want to be at the parks too which resorts were worth taking the extra detour to see.

the tree at the wl is incredible and a quick boat ride from the mk. we have not seen the gingerbread houses at the gf but i definitely want to seem them this time because i have heard they are beautiful and since the gf is a monorail resort they should be easy to get to also. the akl also has a nice tree, we thought the lobby was similar to the wl but darker. also, i don't know if you have ever seen the osbourne lights at mgm but if you are looking for Christmas lights don't miss them!

Definately the GF. It is beautiful all decorated for the holiday. The other one I'd like to see but haven't yet is the WL. From what I hear, it is awesome.

GF and WL! All the resorts are wonderfully decorated for Christmas, but I think these two are really outstanding. I think your DD will like to take a look at these as well especially the GF Gingerbread house!

Does anyone know when they actually do the change over to Christmas. We will be there over Thanksgiving and first week of Dec. and would love to watch them transform the Wilderness Lodge.

If you are first arriving the week of Thanksgiving everything will already be decorated. We arrived last year on November 11th and Vero Beach was already decorated. They explained that Disney Designers themselves come over to decorate their resort and since they were the last to be decorated the year before this that year they were first. But all the resorts were decorated by the start of Thanksgiving week. Each hotel is different and unique in its own way. But I would agree that the Wilderness Lodge, due to its size is exspecially noteworthy. We stayed at the Boardwalk and Swan and neither one was disappointing. There was a nice poinsettia tree outside the Boardwalk. Needless to say they all make for great photo ops. Vero Beach's tree was the backdrop for our Christmas card last year.
