I'm asking for a friend, they have dinner reservations at Tony's Christmas Day. Will they have to be in the park before it gets closed for capacity in order to have their dinner here? I would assume that they won't be able to get in later just for a dinner reservation if it's been closed. Am I right?

Am I right?

Yes, you're right.

For that very reason, we made our Christmas Day ADRs at resorts instead of in a park (O'hana for breakfast, Chef Mickey's for Christmas dinner)

Yep.

That's why we made ADR for CRT breakfast early so we can get out of there before it gets too crowded and we don't have to worry about not being able to get into park later that day.

Yes, you understand it porperly.

There are four phases of closing for each park.
Phase 1:
. . . The toll booths are closed to everything except Disney buses and CMs on duty.
Phase 2:
. . . All ticket sales stops.
. . . Unless you already have a ticket in hand you are not allowed in.
Phase 3:
. . . Only Resort Guests and Annual Passholders are allowed in.
. . . If staing at a Disney Resort without tickets on the room key you may be asked for ID. . . . If the tickets ae encoded on your room key, or you have an AP the biometrics must match.
Phase 4:
. . . The parks are closed to everyone.

NOTE:
If you show up at a park and you would normally not be allowed in due to a phased closing, and you have dining reservations in that park, it does NOT make any difference, they still will not let you in.

I am checking in Christmas day but I will be in Orlando prior to Christmas and was told I can pick my tickets up at the resort before my check in date (have a 6 day hopper, 3 day hotel stay)

So, if I have my tickets Sunday.... then check in Christmas Day... will I be allowed in the park if it closes?

We are in wdw now, my friend called again and asked about not being able to get in. She was told that usually only the parking closes due to capacity. That as long as they were staying at a wdw resort and took a bus there they should be able to get in.:sad2: I'll let you know what happens.
