Christmas Day in a DVC

We are trying to manage our plans for our upcoming trip.


How much do you take with you and how do you celebrate?

Do you do all your gift exchanges there or do you modify your family traditions?



I know it will be wonderful and amazing. Any good tips?

We spent last year there over Christmas. We knew that the trip itself was our family gift. We weren't doing any other gifts, however, I did bring stockings for my 10 & 11 year old daughters and they were surprised. It definitely didn't feel like your traditional holiday of Christmas. Everyone at parks all said Merry Christmas, and people seemed a little nicer and courteous that day. We chose a character meal at Chef Mickeys for dinner that night. Just be prepared for super busy parks and think of how your family would like to spend the day. That may help u prepare.

We had a small tree and our stockings. We brought some of our gifts so everyone would have something to open. And Santa brought a note for the believers that they would have presents at home so we wouldn't have to carry them home with us. (We put them under the tree before we left and picked up our son at day care. When we walked in the house, he went straight for the tree and told us Santa had left him his presents.)

A few years ago my son and I spent Christmas at WDW. We were part of the tree exchange so that was a big help. I bought down a few small gifts (Ipod and Kindle) and bought a Kimbe Drum at AKL which I had shipped home. It was great.

When we've been at WDW on Christmas (staying off property at Windsor Hills) we tour the DVC and deluxe resorts and rate the gingerbread houses! The resorts often have lemonade and cookies, and we look for all the hidden Mickeys. We try to use as many forms of transportation as possible.

This can be a fun event if you have APs and don't mind walking thru Epcot to get to the monorail.

We were there last year in a 1 bedroom at the WLV. We drove down so we were able to bring a small tree & all the gifts.

On Xmas morning we slept in, had breakfast in our room and opened gifts with our kids. It was a great morning! We had a light lunch at the resort. For dinner we went to IL Mulino and it was fantastic. When we exited the resort to head over to the BW, the palm trees were lit and the lights danced to Xmas music, it was so beautiful. We enjoyed the BW area afterwards. It was just perfect.

We spent Xmas Eve at the GF and had dinner at 1900 Park Faire and it was great too.

We really enjoyed our Xmas week trip and we will go back again next year.

Make sure you visit all the resorts to check out their decorations. We loved how the deluxe resorts had cidar and cookies in the lobbies and the characters and Santa too on Xmas eve! It really was a magical trip!

Oh, and a real highlight of our trip was the sleigh ride at FW through the campsite. You wouldn't believe how elaborate the decorations were! It was amazing!! Definitely worth it & we can't wait to do it again!
