Speaking of the "All the best tips thread"

Some kind Dis-er has organized the thread even more onto an excel spread sheet alphabetized and categorized.

It has separate sheets for non-clothing, clothing, misc, carry on, etc.

If anyone would like a copy, just PM me your email and I will be glad to send you one as an attachement

Jim

This is SO cool--thanks, Jim and kind DISer!!!

Just went for a bit of poker...got 6th, so in the $$$$$ ($10 WOO HOO!)
So happy me after a couple of beers...
Jim--VERY cool spread sheet!
Nan--Having a beer for ya!
Tig--CORRECTION! We DO have PALO ressies the 26th at 7PM--we BETTER NOT have AP in our rotation that night!!!! (still trying for brunch...first thing I wanna do when I get on board!)
Not much else here...weather is to improve to 30s--MUCH better than this Arctic crap!
No docs yet...may have to call MIL tomorrow, just cuz its killing me...
Remember we booked a Princess for next Oct...then wedding conflict...looking strongly at a TEN day Southern...Dan's stepmom is the one who said we only live once! (remember his dad has stage 4 cancer...) I guess I should listen to her!
Well, probably should read the threads and hit the hay!

I need some cheering up. I'm getting that darn over whelmed and my family isn't helping me feeling.
Nan, I know what you're feeling, and it's too bad we don't live closer to each other so that we can freak out together. I can't believe how nervous and stressed I'm getting. Why should I care so much about which freaking flip flops to bring? But Nan, you're lucky, because next week you'll be in WDW, feeling the magic, and I'll still have another week to stress through. Kris, pass that beer over here, even though I hate beer! :rotfl:

Jim, thank you for the excellent spread sheet. I appreciate it very much, especially since all my notes I've been microsoft-worksing all year were wiped out during one of my computer crashes. You're a swell guy!

Karen, can hardly wait to get the shirts. I didn't know they were long-sleeved! Cool!! Even Chad said "am I getting one, too?" I said of course, I wouldn't just buy one for myself you ninny! He's excited. Thanks Karen and Dom!

Tori, single digit dance, what are you trying to do, give me heart palpitations?? :rotfl2: I'm just joking around, you're a lovely girl, and I'm glad you're a regular poster, and not like my sons who popped in and right back out. They're missing out on all the Dis fun, but you're not! WTG! :cheer2:

Tig, I'm not sure, but think Nan wants you to send her a picture. :rotfl2:
And I love the Chinese collar idea on your dress jacket! Dede, didn't you recently buy a dress like that?
And Tig my friend, you're welcome about the bags. I just wanted to make things easier for you. We all appreciate all the work you're doing with the swap. :love2: :love1: (Couldn't decide, so I put both!)

Now I have to finish putting up my Christmas decorations. I want to hire one of those companies who come and bring decorations, do the inside and outside, make it look beautiful for Christmas, and then come back after to take it down and away. Not very sentimental, but we can start a new family tradition, drinking hot chocolate together while watching the Christmas Decorating Company men turn our house into a Christmas wonderland!

Hi All,
I wanted to say hello. I'm Dawn and I'll be on the Christmas Cruise with my two lovely daughters, Kate (19) and Becky (17). We're from Albany, NY (state capital) and I teach early childhood/music education at a large community college and grad students for Lesley University in Cambridge MA. Kate (19) works as Best Buy at the mall (and gets me great discounts...) and is a college student at the community college. Becky (17) is a high school senior working diligently on college applications (which need to be done by the time we leave for the cruise...) She wants to be a chemical engineer and is applying to eight engineering schools... This is our second Christmas cruise. We went in 2003 and made great friends with Lynn and Keith Tarrant and Jim Gale and his family, as well as the Parrots who are also joining us again for this cruise. We booked this one back on the last cruise! I just can't wait to see everyone again--the cruise is secondary!! We're coming to Orlando the 22nd, staying at the WDW Swan and visiting MK with Lynn and Keith on Friday. We're using Tiffany limos for all our transports--we used them last time--they were great and cheaper than renting a car!

What's nice about the second time is that there is less stress in all the planning. I am definitely packing lighter this time--my "pre-cruise" pile is much smaller. Two things I found to be most helpful--extension cords and that shoe holder for the bathroom. This time, I bought one for each bathroom. With two teens, I need the cords for all the hair dryers, straigheners, camera chargers...etc.. Jim always says to bring duct tape too--I'll find you Jim if I need some! Last time I brought too much--a small Christmas tree for one thing. It was nice to have, but it took up too much space on the desk area which truly turned into another "prep" area with its mirror for hair drying, etc. So no tree this time, but I did go for lights!

This time, we're also only doing one excursion--the Captain Nautica one with Lynn, Rieann and all the girls. Last time we did one every day--a submarine, a glass bottom boat, etc. Now that we've already done those things, this time we just plan to explore and shop or go to the beach.

I can't believe that two weeks from now we'll be on the ship! Happy packing everyone and don't stress!! Less is more!! (Excuse my count down meter from two years ago--I have no idea on how to change or delete it!)

Hi Dawn nice to see you here, Aisling now you know who Dawn is!!!! :cool1:
Hey a week to go until WDW This is getting very exciting

Hi Dawn nice to see you here, Aisling now you know who Dawn is!!!!
Hi Dawn! It's so good to hear from you. My sister and her family live in an Albany suburb, so we're there quite often in your neck of the woods. See you all soon!
Hi Lynn :wave2:

Hi Aisling! Good to meet you! We live in a suburb of Albany too--the Delmar/Glenmont area! Always a surprise that someone knows the area!!

Hi LYNN!! Hey--how did you get that great sparkly signature? In fact, how do you do the signature at all--mine is a mess of code from the last cruise, but I can't figure out how to access it!!

Dawn

ok Dawn you get to your your signature through the top of the board User CP and then edit signature. I'll try and find the sparkly sig thread its a bit convoluted but if I can do it anyone can!!!

Ok I've copied the post from another DIS board

How to make glitter names!!!! It's easy once you know how!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay I, like I'm sure many others that make the glitter names, have been flooded with requests to make them. although I certainly do not mind doing it (it only takes less than 2 mins since i have the steps memorized....once you do it a few times you will too!)

I wanted to post a thread on how to do it so anyone can make their own, or make them for others. Here are the step by step instructions for both making them, and posting them:

1. Go to this site: http://www.wtv-zone.com/Briggy/glitters/glitters.html and find the glitter colors you like. Save each one by right click on it and "save".

2. Then to make the name, go to http://www.flamingtext.com/fonts/ and find a font you want. Click the font. Then where it says "select style" (drop shadow will be in the box) change it to "PLAIN". In the text box, take out "flaming text" and put what you want the name to say. Then hit the "all options" button. All you need to do here is scroll down to where it says "transparent" and check the box. Then click "create logo". It will take a few seconds, then you will see the name. Right click on the name and save. REMEMBER WHERE YOU SAVE IT!

3. Then go here: http://www.magickstudio.com/
Click "browse" and double click the name you saved. Then when the filename is in the box, click "view". When it comes up, click the button on the lower right of the buttons up top that says "composite". Click "browse" again and this time, double click the glitter color you saved from the first page that you want to use. Once the filename is in the box, change "Gravity" to "Center", change "Compose" to "In", and check the box that says "tile across and down the image canvas". Then click "composite" button above that.
You should see the name without the sparkle animation. Now you want to click the button up top that says "output". change format to "gif" (if it's not already selected, which if probably will be) and click "output".
You should now see your animated, sparkly name. Right click and save the name. That's it!

Here's how to post it in sig's or posts:

1. right click on the sparkly sig and left click on "save as" or "save image". Remember where you saved it!

2. go to http://www.imageshack.us/ and click "browse". It will open your files and you double click the glitter name file. Then click "host it!" You will see lots of boxes with strings of text. You want the one that says "hotlink for forums 1" beside it. Highlight the ENTIRE line of text in that box. Then copy it (right click and "copy" or control/C).

3. paste it in you signature (right click, then paste; or control/V) (sorry, some of you may already know how to copy/paste, but just in case...)
You will know it pasted correctly if it starts and ends with "url" in brackets.
4. preview your sig or post to make sure it looks right. If you are still having problems, let me know!

Hi Lynn

I found it easier to copy it from your sig - put it into my pictures - then upload it to the photobucket. & I thank you. :teeth:

Hi Dawn

Started a long post, but have to drive Jesse to a party, and am excited about Chad coming home with our new digital camera from BestBuy.

BBL :sunny:

Wrapping up swap stuff here..I had ambitions to make a bunch of stuff (Disney themed), but I decided I could buy Nebraska themed little goodies inxpensively and with far less effort! (I STILL have to finish those darn grandma calenders--I SO should have let Walgreens do it when I had a coupon for only $10 each!!! Now it's $20 eachx5! OUCH! )
Tig--If I dropped these in the mail Monday, do you think you would get them in time? Very small & light weight. If you don't think so, I'll just bring them.
Worked out this afternoon...Xmas must be slow season at Jazzercise. Only 6 gals in class! (I have NEVER seen such a small class!) I felt bad. It was our friend who's house burned down on Thanksgiving. It was her first class teaching in 3 weeks. Her brain CERTAINLY wasn't on Jazzercise the last couple of weeks, and she was a bit rusty. One gal left. HOW RUDE! She's doing pretty well, considering. She agreed...no one was hurt & that is truly all that matters.
Hailey has a sleepover birthday party tonight, so Dan & I thought we'd take the boys towatch the AMAZING Husker volleyball team play on TV somewhere and catch a bite to eat. Nice relaxing evening. (well, as relaxing as dinner out w/ Jackson can be!)
Oh, yeah, those calenders....
Better run!
Bye! :wave2:
Kris
Grim & Dede you have been pretty quiet out there!

Welcome Dawn  nice to meet you!

Kris, if you guarantee you'll mail them out this Monday please do.

I'm cleaning up my tote bag and notebook, updating my spreadsheets and listening to Christmas carols :teeth:

My FIL called today, wants us to call him the day we come back so he can see his granddaughter. They'll be away at his niece's house in GA for Christmas.

I'm even going thru my jewelry to see which sets I'm bringing.

I tried to do a picture of the outfit last night for ya Nan...but alas did not finish

Are you saying you need another picture of me to recognize me on the ship? :confused3

~as everybody says - just look for the hair~

Hey Ma! I thought you were gonna visit me today?

We have some docs to fill out don't we? :cool1:

My only question for now is, do they say what our dining is or do we get that later?

I'm lurking if you're out there...most of my itinerary will be done til cruise time if you can tell me what our dining rotation is ;)

I'm printing some pics for Christmas Greetings and will pop in and out while I do my laundry. Being off Fri and Sat today is really my sunday...

I'm even going thru my jewelry to see which sets I'm bringing.
I'm so glad you me mentioned jewelry, or as we say here in NY, jewlery...after making so many packing and outfit lists, I forgot to think about jewelry. I don't really have much, real or otherwise, but maybe Mel will give me a nice early Christmas present! ;)

I had a beautiful dream the other night, that we were on the cruise, and it was wonderful. I especially remember getting out of bed (in the dream) and opening the verandah door to see the ocean in the middle of the night. Even in the dream, I could hardly believe we were really on the ship. I can still hear the sound of the water as we cruised out to sea. I wonder if it really sounds like that.

We got our new camera, a Nikon Coolpix 5600. I'm going to post some test shots in a little while. I have to wait...Mel and Chad are taking turns reading the little direction book.

Susan, are you still lurking?? :wave2:

Yes Aisling, I guess I am ;)

Admittedly so...

I have a limited jewelry collection. Every piece has a memory-most connected to my hubby. I can wear my hearts and think of him...

How is your holiday changed with Mel not going? My family will exchange gifts prior to our leaving on the 21st, prob the 20th.

My sister's family, my mother's other daughter, will be celebrating the Saturday after our return...so I guess we get three Christmases this year-including the actual holiday while on the boat, Mom, Daughter, granddaughter and might as well be, other child-best friend of Britt's.

~and now almost 60 of our closest friends :grouphug:

who has their bathingsuit packed?!?!?! I'm going to pull mine out now :moped:

Since we won't be home for Christmas, we're having our big Christmas Eve dinner party on the 16th next Friday night. Let's see...me, Mel, Chad, Jesse, Mom, Dad, Aunt Elaine, Denise, Charles, Brandon, Tyler, Tess, Barry, Fran, Cory, Donald, Casey, Louise, RoseMarie, Nancy, John, Bobbie, Samantha, Julia, James, Rochelle, Neco, and Stephanie. Wish me luck!!!!!

It's going to be weird not being with Mel for Christmas. Sometimes when I think about it, I start feeling sad, but I quickly change my thoughts to the positive. He'll be fine, he has tons of tennis planned (he's an absolute FANATIC!), and will hopefully get some sleep that week, since it's his vacation week. We have a fun NYE planned, so that'll get us through.

I'm afraid to say this, I know I'm obsessed, I know I need to move on, but am I the only one who plans on wearing a floor length gown for formal? I have a tea (calf) length as a backup.

I packed my 2 bathing suits when summer ended. I have to get my kids' bathing suits, I think I packed Jesse's already. Going to check right now!
