Christmas Cruising 2005

Good Heavens what a bunch of Chatty Cathies you all our (ha, not me, never chatty...) :rotfl2:

We just got home from Little League Closing Ceremony. It was nice. Wilson won an award for top fund raiser. (you didn't think he'd let Molly get all the glory as a top cookie seller did ya?) :confused3

Bush, what Bush, all I saw was a bunch of trees and crazy people!!!! :rotfl:

Some people take themselves so serious....(I had children on that bus too lady....) (and they think a bush is a green plant that lives in the ground, what's your problem?) :confused3

Man, I haven't even had any rum drinks today.

Doesn't that sound good right now? yuummmmm...

Congrats on the house walk thru, good luck on the move. Dede let the big strong men lift and carry everything. Then you can just arrange as you like. What a great way to nest... I just cleaned my desk before I had Molly.

So, about Dland, I've been trying to come up with dates, but I'm just so lame about it right now. I think I just have to say let's go.

Paul is in next week having a little snip. (oh my gosh, will he care that I said that, ya right, not Paul) so next weekend is out, then it's the 4th of July almost and I have no ressies, so....then it's POC the next weekend, I have no ressies...hmmmm I better get on something soon.

We are going berry picking tomorrow for Dad's day. Paul's choice. We've made it every year (but once) since I was prego with Molly. The pictures are pretty cute. I just had my brainstorm (did ya get wet?) that can be my gift to him...a collage. I did get my new scanner so I can scan those old pre-digital wonders. Well I guess I just made a project for myself today so I'm off.

Love to you all & wishing we were live in the those videos as I type,

Nan

Hi All!
Glad to see so many posting.

Chad - the videos were great! What a wonderful reminder of the good times last December. :goodvibes

I think I can speak for both Grim and I when I say that we're totally jealous of all you people going to WDW! Sharon, is this your first time in your DVC home? I well remember our first time in the Beach Club Villas as new DVC members :cloud9: Enjoy!

So, as Grim said, the final walkthrough is done. We'll be moving in next Friday and over the weekend. I can't wait! They're replacing the cabinets because they messed them up again a few weeks ago when they sent some hack out to put on the correct pulls. He didn't measure or anything. Over 70% of them were crooked or had been drilled multiple times because he messed up. As a result, we would never be able to change the pulls and you could see all kinds of nicks and gouges around where the holes were drilled. That made 3 times that they completely messed up our cabinets...which is why we're moving in 15 MONTHS after they started. Oh well....by gones.....we're in this week and we're getting new cabinets on them, but they are NOT drilling holes in them again. We're going to have John's Dad do that. He's a master woodworker.

Enough of that. Piper is getting bigger every day...my huge belly is evidence of that. I think John took a picture of it last weekend, so I'll have him post it so you can see it. I'm still maintaining my weight pretty well...Piper's basically the only one gaining weight, so that's good. We go for our last monthly check up on Thursday, and then we start going every two weeks.

I will definitely let the guys do the lifting. We've hired movers to get the big stuff. I've decided to be in charge of Piper's clothes and her gifts from the baby shower. I just left most stuff in the gift bags, knowing that we were moving soon, so I can pack those up in my car and take them over. It will give me a job and I can just hang out in Pipers room and closet, and organize her huge wardrobe. Seriously, between the shower, and a friend who has two little girls who've passed on clothes, I don't think we'll HAVE to buy clothes for almost 2 years. Of course, I will still buy her clothes because I'm a sucker for girly clothes and I know that once she starts thinking for herself, I won't be able to dress her anymore!

Tig, thanks, this is a big milestone for us, and an even bigger one coming up in Sept! We are very blessed, as Piper will be due to all of our wonderful friends and family. Aisling is going to buy Piper's first Christmas ornament so that she will have her name on the tree like the rest of us. That makes me so happy and thankful to have good friends even though we're all far apart.

Aisling - got your email. Will respond shortly. I can't believe your trip is so close! Time flies! Make sure you drink some yummy drinks for me, and try to hug Minnie if you see her!

Nan - I've totaly lucked out on the whole nesting thing. I will have a new enough house that I shouldn't need to do any heavy duty nesting cleaning. It will probably be more along the lines of organizing photos and trying to get caught up with scrapbooks so that I can spend my time after Piper is here making scrapbooks of her! I'm going to enlist the help of my Mom when she gets out here the end of August. She's not a scrapbooker yet, but I can at least get her to crop photos for me.

Well, I'm off to take a nap. Take care good people!

Bye for now

Thanks! My first Father's Day!

The camera is the Canon Digital Rebel XT. It comes in 2 different kits:

17-85 lens kit for $1,069.95

and 18-55 lens kit for $674.95 (both after mail-in rebate).

I'd recommend the 1st one - the lens is much better - more range, and has image stabilization (compensates for shakey hands). The other one is fine, but I think you'll find it much too short a lens.

You'll need at least a 1GB compact flash card.

Then you might also want to add a telephoto for those go-cart shots. Here's the "money's no object" telephoto (is there a drool smiley?).

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Everybody - Hope everyone is enjoying the summer time?

Chad - I've read a lot great things about these videos. I have high expectations - so I am going to open them now.

Grim - Hope the father's day was all that you expected it to be! Wopee!

Congrats on getting the cabinets squared away properly - finally. I want to see pictures of the finished product.

Thanks for the link to the camera store. Couple of questions:

1) Is there a reason you directed me to this B&H store?
2) How are their prices compared to others?
3) Is there a differecne between black body and silver body - other than color?
4) Do you know if our lens on our Canon Rebel SLR 35mm will fit on the Rebel XT digital?

I think that's it for questions for now, but I reserve the right to ask more later!

Paul!

1) I like B&H. They have great prices, and good service.
2) Prices are very low. You can probably find slightly lower prices online, but usually not from places as reputable as B&H. You won't find lower prices at a local camera store. I recently ordered a new lens from Dell because it was cheaper than B&H (on sale and had a coupon). It took 7 weeks to get the lense. Wasn't worth the savings at all.
3) No differences other than the color.
4) Yes, they will work. I didn't remember that you already have lenses. If you like the lenses you already have, you can just order the body .

It was good talking to you last night. Glad to hear all is well.

Placed the order with B&H this morning and I am so excited about getting the new camera. I already know my wife takes great shots - and now maybe I can too!

Nan if you are going to DL before you come to the UK Could I ask you a big favour....I'm into the virtual disney site...you see i don't live near like you guys so I have to get my fix somehow!!!! They issue special cards at the parks if you fill in a quest i have downloaded the quests and have the answers you would just need to print them and take them with you and exchange them for cards...if you wouldn't mind doing this for me give me a pm and I'll e mail you the quest sheets....don't worry if you can't it's not life and death.

Has anyone else played on VMK it reminds me a bit of furnishing my doll's house when I was a little girl :rotfl2:
Got to go now World Cup fever has gripped the UK :happytv:
Hope you are all well

What's the "bush" story? I can't hear what Nan says on the video.
Well, since everyone is too  , or just plain forgot, I'll spill.
On the way to the ship, on the bus, we were trying to catch a glimpse of the ship through the trees, and Nan blurts out "doesn't anyone here cut their bushes" or something very like that. It was hilarious coming from her, considering she had previously questioned the ladies in our thread about umm delicate waxing. Well, we who "got it" couldn't resist, and we got a bit naughty, causing a lady in the back of the bus to shout to us "we have children back here!" It's a very funny memory, and I'm glad Chad got a bit of it on video!

Lynn, I started with the VMK when it first started, but lasted inly a very very short time. I just couldn't overcome the simplest things, like making my girl walk in the direction I wanted her to go. Now I'm dying to try again, but I feel I've missed so much that I'd be totally lost. I've ben reading every VMK thread, so hopefully I can revive my girl. I know exactly how you feel comparing VMK to filling your doll's house, I LOVE that feeling, that's why I'm going to try extra hard to understand how to play the doggone thing!

Busy day, I'll be back later!!

Hi Chicken bak bak bak!!!!!!

Lynn, do ya think I needed an excuse to make a trip to Dland???? Well ya just gave it to me. I see the VMK kiosk every time we are there and feel very bad about not putting the time into figuring out the answers...ha ha I'd love 'em from you.

I'll pm you tomorrow from my desk...so I can have the notes close at hand.

Okay, next biggie of the day. MIL tells chicken that they'd like to buy us Chunnel tickets or Tea at the Ritz, so of course we're going Chunnel so we can of course go to Eruo Disney!!!! I talked Chicken into it today, telling him that next time we go to Europe (ya know that 2010 plan) the kids won't want to Disney then since they'll be too old.....So Lynnnnnnneeeee....wanna come and see Euro Dland with us for a couple of days????

Aisling, I could have told Paul the story, but it sounded so much funnier coming in your voice.....that lady, like her kids even knew what was funny, then they were old enough to laugh at it right????

Totally pooped tonight we went to the Giants game today and they lost, it was also very hot....100+ here in San Jose, high 90's in SF.

Check back later tomorrow,

Nan

you Brits, always so short on your replies....(insert me like the Genie saying come to Euro...come to Euro....) :rotfl2:

Paul's says "do you really want to do Disney on a Euro vacation, it seems so not Euro" ha, you're kidding me right? :rotfl:

I'll zip you a pm from my desk and hope we can continue this over email. I know the rest of you are saying, no keep it here, we love the drama....

:happytv:

just like our own little soap opera right?

Aisling, only 1 week!!!! OMG!!!!! Are you totally jazzed???? Doing the ahppy dance yet????   Remind me Mel is going right???

Hi All!

YES, the day has FINALLY arrived! We got the keys to the new house today! WOOT!!
We took a bunch of junk over tonight, but tomorrow is the big moving day. We might be out of touch the next few days unless Grim has the energy to hook up a computer after doing all his other moving chores. ;)

They were installing the new drawer fronts and doors today, and have a few more to finish up tomorrow, then we're basically set!

Its been a long haul, and I'm sure you're all tired of hearing us whine and moan through this 15 month process. Thanks for not telling us to shut up! :rotfl:

Completely beat after today, and a long day tomorrow, so we're off to bed.

Have a great weekend everyone!

::MinnieMo Dede

I tried to reply earlier & erased it :faint:

Hi everyone - no,I haven't left the face of the earth, just life got WAY too busy as soon as we got home from the cruise. It was show after show after concert after graduation. Up at 5am, work until 2:30, to the school until 6, home, dinner, bed ... for six months. I love it though and I got paid for it, so that was a plus. And I have been busy at work, we are starting elective angioplasties on Tuesday. The nerve that I have actually had to work at work! I haven't even had a chance to lurk. Nothing, zip, no time.

Not sure I ever mentioned my MIL bought at DVC. Well, she just had to use 150 points before next June ..... Saratoga Springs (SSR) in August woo hoo. 7 of us are driving. CAN'T wait.

I doubt I'll ever be able to catch up, so I'll just jump right in. I did read back a page. In the words of Ty Pennington ...

Welcome Home, Deed and Grim!!!

Glad to be back ......
