Christmas Cruising 2005

Hi there Tiggie....I just clicked on your link to the Dis meet...

Do you stay for the event all day? Is it a bit over Disney overload? I would think a meet would just make it harder to be away from the world, land or ship????

I'll have to check out the pod cast from my other pc, seems I lost flash on this one and can't reinstall it for some unknown techno reason.

I've been hanging at home the last 2 days with a bug of some kind, might just have made myself sick of staying home sick...I think I have to brave it the outside world soon. Kids (& Paul) went out last night, boys to see Superman (very violent they they me) the girls (Molly went with playgroup mom's and friends) shopping and to get their nails done.

I've been called to surgery, Wilson has a splinter....I'm off.

What's going on with the rest of the group this weekend? Must be good you're all so quiet....

The meet goes from 10am to 6pm...

I will be there early since I am in charge of the staff. Mom and Rose are coming with me. I've even booked a room for the night cause the festivities continue even after the meet is over.

Last year I did the day and went home right after. I wished I'd stayed...the group who stayed hung out & did Trivia & Pin trading at the bar, had dinner together & some even went to Dorney Park the day after.

I have tickets from the radio station for Dorney but will probably save those for when John & Brittany can go with me.

Since our cruise was the last time I got to see Disney...7 months ago...and I have no other trips planned, no, this isn't Disney overload...it's just enough to keep me happy.

I'm sorry to hear your'e sick again but glad to hear the family is keeping busy.

Dom just told me about Allentown and now it is too late!!! Oh well, that's what I get for not keeping up. Can't wait to hear the details.

Happy 230th Fourth of July every one!!

Enjoy.

Hi everyone!

Cool truck Nan! Glad you guys like the camera.

It's back to work for me - I took last week off to get settled into the new house. Could have used 2 weeks.

Ciao!

grim pirate:

we were talkin cruisin on my threadkiller thread & I thought I owe you guys a visit

I really wish you could've made it ti Allentown /Kar...Dom really shoulda spoke up sooner :confused3

I'll see Sharon/Havencruiser there, she bringing a friend since her daughter is away with college.

Mom is staying with me & so is Rose.

Britt can't, her social calendar shows her friend's band is playing that night :(

I've been using a new digital slr at work...the boss bought it, it's really cool!

she's a Nikon

tiggie: I don't know those people look a bit wacky to me....(okay those people are you :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

so do you have a date for your next cruise? Are you going in Jan '07?

did ya know that Wilson says "sea monkey stole my money" to my mom the other day? Boy I had a time trying to explain that one....I just quit and plan on getting him back with it in the up coming days, better yet when he wakes up on the plane to London that would be good huh?

okay, so why haven't the rest of you been talking about PoC hype?

What's the plan to see it?

We are talking about Friday afternoon, I asked Wil if he is dressing in his gear, he looked at me and said "why would I do that" my lord that boys too old for his 6 years. of course I know that Molly is in, now the trick is to get chicken to 1st get the pirate box outta the garage and 2nd join us for the movie.

I'm watching a tv guide show about the red carget event...Orlando Bloom  Johnny Depp   the pair..... pirate: :cloud9:

going to fall into the tv now....

we were in full conversation last night on the threadkiller side & my internet dies :badpc:

aaaanyway, YES. I am going to see that movie next weekend!
no, I'm not wearing any pirate gear to the movie...

I think all Disney movies are my favorite, I'll never be able to narrow choice that down to only one.

How long before you leave for England?

not until 8/5...between now and then....

next weekend Wilson go-karting race (zoom zoom zoom)

7/20-7/23 los angeles, American Girl store (7/24 Dland, if I can plead my way into it)

7/27-7/31 SJ Grand Prix, we got the same view suite as last year and this year I'm watching the race from the AC with cold beer in my hand...

in between Molly get's her braces on and has a week of Animal Day camp.

oh yeah and work in between all this vacation too, hummmmm, no wonder why I continue the life of self employment huh?

Life'll slow down some day...

My son is a way in Myrtle Beach SC with his girlfriend, Britt is hanging with her friends, John is sleeping...he hurt his back washing my explorer today...the only noise here is the tv and Penny barking at the neighbors going by...Germany lost their bid for the world cup today so Dad's day just got shot to hell.

We're going to my sister's next weekend, her township has their fireworks on saturday night-they always have a bbq but her hubby is taking the opportunity to make it a 40th birthday party for my sis. Her's and Brittany's birthday are on July 31st. Britt is almost 18, can you believe it. Stefanie will be 18 on the 6th.

The following weekend is the allentown dismeet on saturday and dorney park on sunday with Mom and Rose.

give your mama a hug and tell her it's from me (don't read that Jill, okay at least pretend it's a suprise!!!)

And HB Brit and Steph on their days too!!!!

July was a good month to have babies....October as I recall was a good month to make 'em

(okay june wasn't a bad month for me to make the other one either....he he he)

Techno photo question of the day....

Grim:

Can you make a date stamp with the Canon? I can't seem to understand the info in the book....it talks about date stamping when you are printing from the flash card, but if I download to my computer (to Costco or the like) and print from there will I get a date stamp? Currently my pictures do not show the date stamp on the screen image.

okay, so why haven't the rest of you been talking about PoC hype?

What's the plan to see it?

Avast ye mateys we'll be heading to the theaters as soon as we get out of swabbing the decks tomorrow! Me young lass wanted to go the midnight showin' tonight, but alas we have early morning duties and couldn't see clear to obliging the child! Pity she'll have to wait and see it with us! pirate:

now that's what I want to hear...good pirate grub language.....arrrggghhhh

we are set to sail to the coastlines this afternoon forever looking for the secret beach house hideaway.....I know if we get one you'll all be more likely to say you'd come and visit me in sunny california~~~

rrrrrrrrggggghhhhhh pirate:

(even got chicken to comit to an eye patch for the viewing tomorrow....he he he)

Hi everybody, we're back from disney, and lord what a trip. So much happened, good and not, that thinking of writing a real trip report gives me a headache. I'll nutshell it for now

the Contemporary
1. the room housekeepers are lazy idiots
2. the tower view is omg awesome
3. the beds are so comfortable, with great mattresses and duvets
4. it's outrageously expensive, ridiculously expensive
5. the monorail right there in the hotel was great
6. the monorail still smells like a barn
7. I didn't use the pool or shop there this time, for no particular reason, just how it went.
8. the elevators seem to move a lot faster than last time, which is cool.
9. there were many trainees at the front desk, which caused us some check-in confusion, but lead to us being moved (without asking) from our assigned 8th floor room to a wowee 11th floor room.
10. we asked and were allowed to use our last year's mugs there
11. the arcade is great
12. no towel animals, but nicely done, cozy turndowns

AKL
1. bugs (read my post on the resorts board for details)
2. wonderful, competent, courteous, prompt mousekeepers
3. we did pool view this time, and loved it better than the savannah view
4. we had the deluxe room for 5, with the requested bunkbeds, and there was adequate breathing room for us all.
5. the beds and blankets were not as comfy as the CR
6. very fast room service
7. many scheduled activities that we never took advantage of, unfortunately, like culinary tours, night vision, storytelling, a parade through the lodge every evening
8. easy check-in
9. not enough drawer space
10. very good bus service, with personable drivers each and every time
11. i witnessed a pretty bad slip and fall in the laundry room, where I ended up having to call 911, and learning that WDW is tapped into the public 911 system! Big Brother is watching.
12. didn't eat at either Jiko or Boma this time, but dropped a small fortune on the fried shrimp at the Mara, which was kept very clean with CMs constantly walking around wiping and sprucing.
13. a strong animal poop odor, which we never had before on previous trips.
14. we hat the hot tub/jacuzzi to ourselves every night at around midnight, which was so relaxing.

General
1. we saw the space shuttle go up, from Blizzard Beach, where they made an announcement for everyone to look up and see it. it was so amazing, I cried.
2. i got really sunburned
3. i was a guest conductor on the Main Street train! I got to wear the conductor's cap, do the all clear/all aboard, and blow the whistle.
4. we got to see Spectromagic from a VIP area where the parade begins, and again I cried. It comes down an alley type area, where you see the light reflecting on the walls before the actual floats come down, and it was so exciting. Also, we got to "turn off the lights", which means we were given a handful of pixie dust, and at a certain time during the opening announcement, we had to throw the pixie dust into the air], and it reflected as the lights were turned off.
5. we got to see Wishes from a VIP area that was taped off right in front of the castle, in the middle of the street by Casey's.
6. Chad and my nephew got to "end" spectro, by holding the lighted pole thing and walking down Main street, and we followed behind. Chad has vid clips of all this, and he'll post them tonight.
7. best meal was at Rose and Crown
8. we had a funny "grenade tugging" incident with one of the Toy Story green army men ;)
9. we did Expedition Everest with a "nonstrings attached" pass that put us in front of the Fast Pass line, which was 90 minutes long!!! The standby was 180. It was the best attraction ever!!!!!!!!!!
10. we met the performer who is Dale, and maybe Pooh too, but she didn't want to give too much away.
11. Please don't kill me but we used our CR mugs at AKL, and the CMs were perfectly fine with it, no objection, no problem, they even encouraged us to do it to save money from buying a new set of mugs.
12. this trip cost more than I expected, and if I think about it too much, it gets to me.
13. it's better, at least for me, NOT to do a Grand Gathering.
14. my back, which was bothering me a lot right before the trip, got better day by day, thankfully.

I have a pile of laundry to do, and I've been getting it done all day today with Jesse's help. Chad's working today from 10 am to 8 pm. Mel is at Tennis Camp, and I feel like a jerk making a mistake telling everyone he went to Space Camp!

I hope you all had a fun 4th of July. Grim and Dede, it was fun talking to you, and I'll be sending you the done-deal info. All went
smoothly. :thumbsup2

Tiggie, I got disney maps and other printed info for your friend, and also some dismeet kid's scrapping stuff. I have your address, and I'll send it right out.

Nan, take a breather, will you! I can't believe it's been a year since you last told us about your attending the grand prix. Hugs to you!

And Karen, your pirate talk got me all excited! Can't wait to see the movie. When we were at WDW, the PotC ride was closed, waaaahhhhhh, so we missed out on the LIVE ACTOR portraying Jack Sparrow! We heard the resemblance is freaky!

I'm so bad, my doorbell just rang, and I ignored it!

Welcome Back!!!

I saw Chad's new pic and had a feeling you were home :teeth:

Your recap is wonderful, I even popped over to the resorts board to see what the bug thing was all about....

all in all a wonderful trip I'd say...

LYMI!

Welcome Back Aisling! I'm glad that you enjoyed most of your trip. Thanks so much for getting our ornaments; Grim just wanted to know what you were doing at DD on the 4th! He wouldn't dare be outside of a park on the 4th, lol!

Bye for now!
Dede
