ok, I'm getting the boxes....25 for Disers and 25 for my party (that will make Paul feel better than having 50 for our party) :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Okay I'm a freak I bought two cases. I must have things like this in bulk. I realized I can make my boxes party invitations and party favors, hence the extra boxes...just wait my idea for them is fab.

Tig: I let ya know when the chicken is in the cupboard. (when I have them in hand) and I'll send them to you for sure, as we couldn't pack 'em. Actually I'm asking the ebay guy to send directly to you.

okay, since I'm really dumb and need everything s*p*e*l*l*e*d* out...

Here is the swap idea:

I send the boxes to Tig (with our little goody inside, I have it allready, no it isn't bubbles, but it is something from our family to your family to think of us) then each family that wants to participate gives to me or Tig on board there stuff (in a plain unmarked bag) and we then stick it in the little box (ideally without looking at them) then at a prearranged meet...(close to the end of our cruise) we pass them all out to each family that particiapted.

Is that clear as MUD? The object that each family gives should have a way of being marked, like with a tag or something. The limit is up to 25 families can join in the swap. Tig....will you keep the list of who is in the swap. The item has to be no bigger than 8" WIDE 5 1/2" FRONT TO BACK AND2 1/2" THICK (and the smaller the better so each of the 25 items can fit in the box., yes that means the NY ideas must be paired down to a rat tail or something like that)

Is this an okay idea for everyone? I kinda like it because then we have this cute little Disney Cruise Line box that would be like our little memory box of swap stuff from each family.

Tig:I loaded the picture above without even using my notes in my office, you've created a techno genius :worship: I'm now too :cool2: for :teacher: (cool for school, get it)

I haven't read a thing yet

Good job with the photos Nan :applause: for you. :)

I was over playing a game and just signed off.

OK, so each box is going to have 25 items in them if 25 families join in. Each family puts in 1 item. But if each family puts in only 1 item, that means a total of 25 items in box. So who gets the one box?
I hate to be a pain, but I still don't get it. If everyone else understands, will someone PM me with info so that my questions won't take up thread space. Whatever it is, count me on the list, Tig.

Okay, I've been back and did my reading...

Yay! John and Dede are one step closer to the new house :cheer2:
How is the new one coming along?
Nope-don't really watch alotta tv, prefer movies and music. I'm listening to the Epcot soundtrack of Tapestry and Reflections.

Yay! Lynn's back! :cheer2: Sorry to hear you got sick, hope Keith and you are faring well. Got pictures? I looove pictures...

I like the meet and swap idea for the grab bags. I'd like to do this one of our first days like Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Mom may be ok with driving down with them but I doubt if she'll live in the cabin with them all week. ;)

Karen/Aisling: NYC meet? Lunch at Aisling's choice of restaurant and shopping at WOD NYC!!! I could even get the girls to come with me for this meet.

Kris: I remember DSs boy scout days. And yes, we gotta learn to let that lead (leed) out, a little bit at a time. It's the hardest thing to face for us, letting go...when all's we want to do is hold on tight.

Awesome deals at the auction too! That was very nice of your Mom to care enough to share. Free is always a good deal.

Aisling: Ebay's shipping cost is sometimes why I won't use it...Nan showed me a page with buzz/potato head stuff. The toy price was fine, the seller was insisting on $25 shipping cost-no kidding...

Sexy lady...in the grocery store...sexy lady...don't you fear no more...:dancer:

:ssst: my Mom's still working on pronouncing your name right too :ssst:

even worse than a stranger telling you that you look pregnant is to have your own cousin tell you/ask when are you due???? I replied "I'm not, I'm just fat" I think I never wore that dress again, and it was a shame it was so darn comfortable. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yes, Tig better to pass out the stuff at the front end...I forgot about us having all the darn boxes in our cabin(s) until pass out time. SO we need to make sure to get stuff asap when we dock, or send it all to you ahead of time...nice of me to dump that part on you huh???? Just kidding,,,,no sending stuff to Tig. Only the boxes need to be shipped via the mama car (thanks Jill) I suppose I could even ship them to AKL, but I'd be nervous about them arriving on time....or getting lost in the transit or on site....

Lynn: I missed it, did you get sick? Are you okay now? Get better or stay healthy whatever need be.

Kris: you come from a good line of bargin hunters, you go girl.

I hear you guys talk about letting your "little" guys go out.....EEEKKKKK I hope I'll get brave to let them have freedom as they grow up but for now I'm the mommy that makes his little boy come into the ladies room with me still when out in public. I'm just a clingy mom. I need to be to feel safe and that is what works for me. I'm glad that I have the flexibility to be there. I go on all field trips etc....I'm just not ready to let them be without me (or DH) yet.

okay, really tired tonight, long day of shopping with mom and sis for clothes for mom, dad gave us the credit card, OMG, we did some BIG damage....She looks great now. We are talking about a family cruise to Alaska next summer maybe....I need to do some reseach.

Off to bed, tomorrow we are going to take Wilson to the Go-Kart races....he says he'd gonna go really fast :moped: :moped: :moped: (pretend that is a race car)

Nite,

Nan

I am up at an ungodly hour...(NOT a morning person). Woke up at 5:30 realizing I forgot to do something yesterday!!! :confused3 Friend of ours turns 40 Tuesday. We have secretly been dropping off 40 of somthing at her house for the last 40 days. It has ranged from the mundane (paper clips, rubber bands) to nice (cookies, candy) to the hysterical (condoms, Prep H wipes, Depends, Old Style beer, ear plugs--yes, they come in bulk, CHEAP--DH snores LOUD! Ask me about him--Benny--on the cruise. Have a HYSTERICAL Vegas story)
I dropped off a gift bag full of gift bows, appropo.
So got a Starbucks & figure I'll be ready for bed early tonight--not a bad thing before the first kid day at school.
Karen--NE is Nebraska  sorry!
Nan--Crazy woman w/ the boxes! NEAT idea...how many of us are there? So we bring i. e. 25 NE items to put 1 in each box so we each get a box of goodies from each other? (Aisling, I'm a tad confused, too) :bitelip:
Don't feel bad...I think I just let Marcus go to men's room at about 8. I still prefer he go w/ Dan. But it is nice he can take Jack for me now.
Aisling--Kate Spade is my fav. I have bought a couple real ones, but have a bag lady that has $20-$30 fakes that are cute, although KS makes nothing like these. But I just bought my last purse at Target (remember, say it w/ a French accent, like Tarjay)--and I have gotten more compliments! Mom just bought a cute Fossil 75% off at Dillards that may be my cruise bag!
Marcus was very proud of himself--and I proud of him AND me!
Didjya check out the fantasyfasionleague? Maybe I'll go there next.
And BLESS that fireman's heart! Sensitive guy to know EXACTLY what you needed to hear at that point! (I, too, have had insensitive a** make a prego comment when not). Luckily Dan is like him--always says he fell in love w/ me, not my body (which was much better when we met!) :love2:
Hey, anyone know how much Disney pins run? (I posted this question on the regular thread and some smart a** told me he thought they ran about 4 laps every morning! :rolleyes1 ) I saw some on EBAY :teeth: and wondered if it was worth it now, or to wait.
Well, guess I'll go read the paper (one of my fav activities on Sun morn)
Bye! :wave2:
Kris

I was in the middle of a huge post and the stupid computer froze on me. :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: Too frustrated to recreate it now will post later.

Have a magnificent day everyone!!

I just hate it when that happens :badpc:

Lynn had said she missed pirate night because she had sun poison

Nan, I hear Disney's going to Alaska in the near future.

Kris: You got it, 25 items, 1 per box...this way everyone gets a sample from every contributor. Nan and I will be the box stuffers...like how I volunteer you right back dearie ;)

Disney pins at the parks run from $5 to $15, avg is $8. I've seen some buy the pins in bulk on ebay. I'm gonna check the flea market in FL for some goodies for our boxes.

FantasyFashionLeague....ummm nope....not for me thank you.

I do try to keep up on who's who in the fashion world but I doubt if I know enough to compete. Good luck with that...:wizard:

 Happy Sunday Christmas Cruisers!

It's laundry day so I'll be lurking...

~Tigger~

I gather I am to be the vehicle transporter of the little blue boxes????? Since I am driving down I will be more than happy to insure their safe arrival.

Always glad to do my part. In fact I think it is a great idea.

The lost at sea dis discussion group went back on line. We were on our cruise a year ago. (7 day turned 10 day Western Dis cruise). Tig - Sea Spray & Moran Clan doing the momorabilia thing. I told Moran clan I was just talking about him to you the other day.

I hope everyone filled up with gas today. The weather channel said because of the hurricane the oil barges can't get to the oil rigs at sea by New Orleans & they closed them which has stopped production & the prices WILL go up. I went & filled up plus my fuel cans. I've been riding my motorcycle every day because it costs almost 60 65 dollars to fill up my SUV :sad2: :scared1: :drinking: :moped:
Jill

Thanks for the welcome back and the good wishes I'm fine now just a day of feeling sick and whoozy, I forget to factor heat into the equation when planning my trips and the Mexican sun proved a little too much for me one day as I swung through the jungle and went out swimming with dolphins all in the same day!!! i cooled off in the pool back on the ship but when I went to the cabin I was pretty wiped out. Told hubby I didn't want to go to dinner so he decided to do room service, I went out like a light so he decided to go on deck and get some food and leave me in peace being a kind considerate kinda guy, I didn't wake up til I heard the fireworks, i threw my fancy dress on but I was too late for the show only caught the tail end of the deck party, I was miffed he didn't wake me but he was trying!!!! As he said us guys never get it right!!! :rotfl:

For those that want pictures I have them on the net in a Snapfish album, if you PM me your e mail address I'll e mail you the link. i can't work out how to post it here directly.

I love the little blue boxes, so have I got this right, one small gift representing the sunny UK times 25. It will have to be fairly small and light, there are pretty strict baggage allowances on international flights, but I think we can manage something, so sign us up.

It's so nice to return from one holiday and know that another one is just around the corner, it takes away some of the depression of being back home!!

Gee, I actually pop in one evening, and pretty quiet!
Lynn...jealous, you know!
I bid on a bunch of DCL pins on ebay. Figure if I pay less than $5 each total it is a pretty good deal. I got one already...several more closing w/in the half hour. I accidentally put in my max bid as $26870.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (missed a decimal place or two or three there...!) Luckily I figured out how to fix it!
Well, gotta go put 40 pics of my friend on her garage tonight! Think I will put them in the shape of 40...I'm off, then bed!
Nigh nigh! :wave2:  (just love those waving guys!)
Kris

Jill, thanks for the idea of filling up the car with gas. When I got to the station, there were cars lined up, and the attendant said gas prices will indeed go up. I was lucky I got to fill up my minivan for $51 at $1.63 a gallon. I was driving on fumes, just about empty. It's a shame about the gas prices. It's really hurting my budget badly.

I was watching the news, seeing all those people waiting in line to get into the Superdome, and I pray they'll be ok. It made me nervous all day, worrying about them. God be with them.

I'm scared to ask :duck: , but about the blue boxes, will 25 items fit?? I know I'm thick, but I'm trying to understand!

I was in the middle of a huge post and the stupid computer froze on me.
Karen, that's been happening to me so much lately, so freaking annoying!

Aisling--Kate Spade is my fav.
Kris, I love Kate Spade! But last year I started getting into Christian Dior, got a real bag and matching shoes. Still haven't used them yet! I felt SO guilty spending money like that, wasting money, really, because I could have gotten the fakes for cheap, and they'd look just the same. Live and learn.
I really should wear the shoes once in a while, because they hurt my feet, and I guess I need to break them in. But they sure are pretty! I almost bought the Kate Spade Barbie, but I'll wait and see if I get it for Christmas. I teach catechism on Wednesdays during the school year and a few of my kids usually get me special Barbies for Christmas, since they know I collect them. I'll start hinting early this year!!

I'm getting sleepy. So I'll wish you all good night, and hope you dream about the cruise tonight! :sunny:

Nan, I hear Disney's going to Alaska in the near future.

Tig: Where did you hear this??? I'd much rather take a Disney cruise than any other, especially as a repeater.

Aisling: Yes, the stuff may not fit, but oh well....I hope everyone keeps their items small, if not....then I'll wing it. yes, Tig, I did see that I was volunteered...of course you know I'm in.

Jill:Thanks my dear for the lugging of the boxes.

Lynn:Sorry to hear again (yes I read it the first time but forgot it) about the sun over fun on the ship. I worry about over doing it myself, as change in weather brings out my migraine headaches. The good news of your story is that my DH (& others I'm sure) will be TOLD WAKE ME UP!!!! I never thought about missing something like you did, but my DH would have been that nice guy too.

Kris: Good news on the pins, I'm too cheap, I was hoping for 2-3 bucks a piece...I've been spying ebay lately for them too.

So, we had a great day today. Travelled to Atwater (2 hours away from SJ) for the Go Kart racing. Got there and no one was around :scared1:  then I spied a guy :magnify: walking the track and chatted for a minute only to find out that he wasn't our guy....long story longer, Paul reached the real guy thru 411 at his home listed # (lucky dog) and he met us 30 minutes later, which was only 1 hour and 45 minutes later than our plan....okay no more crabbing because the rest was way awesome. Wilson got outfited into a brand new kart and when flying around the track (I think about 6-8 times) It was crazy how he could just drive. I of course was a wreak driving at 16, Wilson is a racer at 5. Lord help me. So, we will be getting into carting I'm sure. Just haven't figured out how the $ will work on this deal. The karts run around $1.5K. So I really want to make sure that Wilson is going to do this for a good amount of time before we dump the cash into it. Headed to a mall on the way home to see Libby Lu store for sissy, she got a do and Big Sis tshirt.

nuff said....night before Kindergaten...I'm sad....and glad....but mostly sad, very weepy....had a hard time not crying thru all of Wilson's bedtime stories (yes he got about 5)

nite,

N

I can't remember what I attempted to post yesterday so I'll just wing it. It was so perfectly written, darn!! I feel for those people in New Orleans. Glad I had the opportunity to visit a few years ago.

25 for 25, I'm in.

Tig: WOD in NYC - all 3 of us will be there. Kayla wanted me to especially mention she wants to go, too! How cool a DIS meet at the WODIS!!!!

Aisling: I understand perfectly about the trial. I have never seen it nor, I am ashamed to mention, don't know much about it! Iam the Production Manager - in charge of box office, ushers, make sure the actors have what they need, etc. It's a thankless job, but I love it!

Kris: Tig is right about the pins. One can get very addicted to buying/trading if one is not careful! The prices you are quoting on eBay sounds great, just be careful of that last minute bidding war - been caught many times! Average pin prices at WDW or WOD or on the ship will range from $6.50 to $15. I can guarentee you there will be limited edition cruise Christmas pins. We have calmed down on our pin buying, but we still love to trade. Trading was the best when it first began in 1999. Since then we usually only trade with kids, because they get so excited!

Some history - we have complete sets of both Disney store pins when they did countdown to the Millenium (sp?) and countdown to Walt's 100th. The countdown to the Millenium (sp?) were not so difficult to purchase in the store. The countdown to Walt's 100th - what a night mare. We were getting on line at 5AM to wait until the store opened at 10AM to buy the pins. Talk about your obsessions! We probably have over 500 pins - through trading, buying, and ebaying. Ok it's a sickness!

Jill: I guess you might be renting a Uhaul to transport everything? (he he)

$51 at $1.63 a gallon

Do you guys even have an idea of what we pay for gas in the Bay Area????

Are you sitting down???? Now grip the edge of your seat and hold on.....

We got gas yesterday for $2.77 per gallon. That is the lowest grade, self service, crumby looking Shell station.

I can not have any mercy for the rest of the country and their gas woes. I haven't seen gas under $2 per gallon in I can't remember, honest, I really can not remember when.

Okay, Nan stepped down from her soapbox.

I haven't heard all the details of what is going on with the Huricane, I guess I better get updated. Sounds very bad and yes my heart goes to those in the middle of it. Nothing is worse than having your home effected by natural disaster. Okay maybe somethings are worse, but when that happens you really feel shaken and scared.

First day of school today (for Molly) fortuately, the girl that bothers her is not in her class and may not even be at school (they moved, might not do the commute) Molly is in a dual immersion school, Spanish and English. 1/2 day with one teacher then 1/2 with the other....her Spanish teacher this morning told me she wouldn't speak in English to her (or me) which is really good, because then she and I really have to work to understand and learn the language. Molly is fluent, I'm not. Her teacher told me rumors of Spanish class on campus for parents YEAH!!!!! Wilson goes back today from 11:30-12:30 for oreintation, then tomorrow for 15 minutes of assements then a full day on Wednesday 8am-3pm. I'm still feeling sad, but since he was crabbing at me, I'm less sad to have him go to school.

Gotta down load some pictures from this morning...I'll try to post them in a little bit.

N

 Happy Monday!

-The list for our swap is growing slowly-

I guess you could say I'm cheating a little...I'm making two craft items for the boxes as well as purchasing my 25...the crafts have barely any cost to make them but I know you all will like em ::yes::

Try to get items for the boxes that are flat, small or compact...my two crafts are flat so I know I can fit them in.

Nan: I read about the Alaska cruise here, check the main cruise board, the rumors and news board and the DCL website. (Do you know how to use the DISboard's search function?)

Karen: 500 PINS!?!?!?! :earseek:

I buy my pins to keep them-no trading for me. Mom bought me 3 pins from her last cruise. I have the DCL pin, a CC pin and a golden mickey pin.

Our gas prices here yesterday were $2.47 base price...I'm going out at lunch today-wish me luck that it doesn't hit $3 before I get there.

No teaser for Molly :cheer2: Yay! Those are the worst to have to deal with. Brittany had that issue in second grade-I was ready to have a party when I heard that girl was leaving Britt's school.
