Asiling: Huh? what is ***-i-ling..is it like a fecklar?
Nan, the way you spell my name has it looking like the pronunciation starts with A s s. Like my a s s is in a sling! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: OMG I have so many jokes to tell about this, but we have to keep this a family board! I know, anytime I have to use the a-word, I'll use fecklar instead!

Prayers for your mom and family. I've put her on our prayer list at church. And I know what you're feeling about Wilson's first day. Be strong, mom! These babies of ours are growing up too doggone fast. The day will go by so fast, and both of them will be home already, telling you all about their first day!

ok, what's so great about a flemington fur??? are they badgers badgers badgers....
Yukky!

The original suggestion on the other thread was to fill a bag with about $10 worth of stuff. I asked for clarification, but the answer was generic stuff and not things from ones home town/state. I'm still waiting for that! What was suggested (I don't know how to insert a thread address!!!)

glow necklaces or anything else that glows...pretty cheap places on the internet including glow swizzle sticks!

bubbles

small photo album

i live in OK and if i had to bring something from my area it may be muffin mix or jalapeño mix made by local merchants (totally prepackaged and unopened of course)

bookmarks

lanyards

there is alot of stuff at oriental trading that looks like fun.....

think grab bags at parties or stuff in the dollar section at target like little highlighters or memo pads....

Disney stickers

scrapbook stuff

Does that help?? Flemington Furs are supposed to be a great place to get a fur of any kind badger or mink, your choice. I have never been there!!!

Tig, Aisling and anyone else meeting in the Flemington area - another option suggestion. The new show I am doing is the reenactment of the Lindberg Trial. They do it every year - again I have never seen it - I have heard great things about it. Anyway there is a matinée on both Saturdays and Sundays with a third show Saturday night. Anyway - come to a matinée and we can do dinner after? Just a suggestion.

Funny how I said I wasn't going to have time to post and here I am rambling on and on. Forgot to mention I had to pick up DM from Newark Airport last night, and like Aisling, the closer I got the more excited I got thinking that will be me in 120 days!!!!! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cool1: :bounce: :jumping1: :thewave: :thewave:

Karen, that is SO funny, because long ago at the beginning of this thread, I think it was your DH Dom who said he made a killing trading Broadway Disney pins. I think he even advised me to get some for the cruise! Lucky for the Abbatiello clan that I'm so doggone lazy!
I won't steal, I promise, but I want to! :bitelip:

That was ME!!!!!!

Now, what to put in the gift bags from my fair city...hmmm...a dead rat from the subway, brown water from the public drinking fountains, an illegible double-parking ticket, an "authentic" Gucci bag bought from the man on the corner, an autograph from a Bowery bum, a handgun taken from a kindergarten kid, written instructions on how to pronounce wauta, Coney Island bacteria-infested sand, a bag of crack, and shoulder pads for walking down the streets of Manhattan!
You had me laughing out loud, girl! :jumping1:
BUT, I wouldn't mind one of those designer bags from the street!

Kris

Just ended my 2nd week with kids. We had a drug bust yesterday
3 girls and one boy suspended for 9 days each for passing around speed, cigarettes, and joints. The worst part....2 of the parents were angry at the school that their kids were getting suspended!!!!

Well~completely exhausted here....need to go vegitate on the couch :earboy2:

WOW! Nice way to start the school year! And I am SOOOO sick of the entitlement attitude of so many parents. Sometimes the 1950s look pretty good--at least as a teacher you had a bit more respect, and parents expected to PARENT their own children!

I can SO relate to the veg thing--it is all I feel like doing after school! I really need to be sure to keep Jazzercising--it's the only thing that gives me energy! (hey, BP was 100/60, so this exercising must be working. Mine has never been high, but had been running 120/80 last few years!) Plus, darn, I wanna buy a new wardrobe for the cruise! Talbots has 40% off a bunch of stuff right now, and I am dying to shop...size 6 should give me plenty of incentive, right??!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Looks like I missed a party last night :earseek:

I'm actually headed into the shower and going to a BBQ for the rest of the day.

The "10" thing came from the other thread-I thought giving a number would make it easy...guess not ;)

Karen, your new field trip idea sounds nice...Aisling, any comment?

Karen, I also see no reason why we can't have two bags NYC flavor ::yes:: I also suggested area stuff because Kris brought up the Huskers idea. We all come from unique areas and I thought it would be cool to swap in a theme.

$10 limit, 10 item limit, whatever fits in a lunchbag limit...I'm open to all that.

Nan:  P&PD :wizard: for Mom and your family. Enjoy that first day of school. Another DISer said she wore sunglasses that first day so it wasn't so obvious how mushy she felt about her baby boy going to his first day of school.

Nan, Honestly we won't need 50 boxes-probably closer to 25. If you do buy them just give me a holler so I know that part is taken care of. Mail them to me and we could definitely have Mom transport them.

-you're like me with DL like I am with WDW-

Did I tell you I'm going back again? With our cruise coming up I'll have made it to WDW four times this year. That's a record for me! I'm so happy there-just like you are at DL I'm sure ::yes::

Karen, another thought I had was maybe we go into NYC to meet-we could go to WOD together and have lunch in the city maybe. Aisling - you too - let me know what you think of this.

(A s s iling :rotfl2: too funny)

Kris-
My BP has been high in recent years, too. I attribute it to the stresses of being a teacher these days. Walking usually helps me keep mine down, but who has time for exercise right now? NOT ME! I haven't seen a size 6 since high school and am not likely to again  More power to YOU though! :cheer2:

Nan and Tig- Thanks for the hugs and good feelings in response to me whining about school! hehe

Nan- positive thoughts and prayers for you and your family

Ok, our house is FINALLY on the market! yay! I was about to strangle our realtor because I don't feel like he's been doing this in a timely manner. Then again, I've never sold a house before, so what do I know?

The sign went up last night, and I expect it to be sold by Monday. lol

Does/Did anyone watch Six Feet Under, the HBO series? I just watched the series finale. Just started watching it last year. Lots of messed up people, but I got hooked for some reason. I expect grim pirate: to make some comment, since he thinks I"m absolutely silly for watching it. Just wondering if anyone liked it. The finale was interesting.

Well- have to go sign more papers on the new house.

Later!

Hello People
Long time no post, but I'm now back from the West Coast refreshed and invigorated by my holiday, ready to answer any questions. I've read the last couple of pages to try and catch up a bit, we had a great group of DISers on this cruise we had a lot of fun evenings together and went on some excursions together as well. We did the $10 bag from your area thing I got See's candy from California, very nice indeed. I won't say what was in my bag because I could use some of the ideas again. We just arranged a time to meet on the first day (10pm at Scoops) and put all the bags on a table then took turns to take one, let us know what you've all decided to do.
I can't tell you much about pirates night, although we do both have costumes but i got sunstroke that day and went to bed . i woke up to the sound of the fireworks going off, it's on my must not miss list for Xmas!
Hope to spend a bit more time here in the next few months if you'll have me back.
Lynn

Lynn - welcome back :wave2:

Dede and Grim listed their house - woo hoo :thewave:

Dede we watched the first 2 seasons, but lost interest after that. I did catch the last 15 minutes of the last episode and had a feeling they would end it that way. Ever watch Deadwood? If you shy away from profanity - then don't even try. Whew!

Karen, another thought I had was maybe we go into NYC to meet-we could go to WOD together and have lunch in the city maybe. Aisling - you too - let me know what you think of this.
Tig - Love the idea, love the City. Sent you a PM, let me know your thoughts!!!

The set is painted YEAH!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

I was reading Lynn's post...are we bringing a small item from our area for each of you, or a bag of goodies from our area, and we all just switch, and get one bag from one area? (See's candies would be just fine!)
BIG day here...I let Marcus ride his bike to the park at our neighborhood school today since Jack & Hailey were napping. He had a Webelo event he really wanted to go to. 2 neighbor boys were there...I sure could have asked. But he was SO proud of himself! I was a tad nervous, but figured he is ten, got a good head on his shoulders, and cripes, we biked A LOT farther than that at his age! Big success!
Kind of a blah day here...laundry, dishes...few things to do around house...a bit of free poker online...guess I'm feeling lazy before school starts. Dan golfed and has his fantasy football draft this PM. Looked online at
www.fantasyfashionleague.com, thought it would be fun. But don't know that I am that UP on the latest designers to participate...I probably have a better shot at a fantasy football league...but I like college football better. Husker game next week! WOO HOO!
Bad news...disneydirect must have caught on to those of us double dipping w/ the coupons...they pulled them! Of course BEFORE I got Marcus's ordered!
Figures! Guess we will have to check out the party stores or pull together homemade ones.
Nan--cool deal on ebay!
Dede--I have no illusions about being a 6 again! I do appreciate being more fit, healthier, firmer...but a couple sizes smaller wouldn't hurt! I didn't work out for 4 days this week and it felt like I hadn't been in forever...guess that is a good thing when I am missing it!
Good luck on the house. Ya just never know!
Aisling--really lookin forward to that fake designer bag we will all be getting for your area item! :cool1:  :rotfl2:
Karen--nothing from Oriental Trading...that is a NE based business! :teeth:
Tig--I'm depending on you, and your gift of posting...WE ARE ALMOST AT 2000!!! I'm expecting it soon!
Bye, kids! :wave2:
Kris

Karen...I was joking about Oriental Trading CO...when I read it, it sounded like I was serious!
Funny story...Mom went to an auction today in here hometown. Was looking at a car to replace my Dad's...no go. Was also looking at twin mattress for kids to sleep on at her house. They had 2 sets, selling as a set. She bid $1--got them! Then some lady came up later, disappointed she was late, had wanted a twin mattress! So Mom sold her one for $1! So Mom got hers free! Best deal I've ever heard of!
I was impressed, my cousin wanted to buy a sectional. Now this cousin can be a bit snooty, and her husband makes enough $ she could buy pretty much anything she wants new. But apparently she saw one reupholstered in a magazine (she is a great decorator), and she bought one for $4!!!! Heck, that's way better prices than I have ever seen at a garage sale here! And this is a town only 30 min. away! Maybe auctions will be my new hobby...at least I can afford that one, at those prices!
Kris

Kris: I have no idea what NE means :confused3 so I am glad you were kidding!!!!

I have to type this offline, because I keep getting booted. Very annoying.

So Miss Krissie, this is the second time you mentioned the fake designer bags. I have to say they look so real, I couldn’t tell the difference, not that I’d KNOW the difference anyway! Just curious, what’s your favorite?
Your mom made out good (wow that’s an understatement!) at the auction. I’ve never been to one, but I can imagine all the cool stuff and bargains. And less expensive than eBay it seems. And fun!
I know how you feel about letting Marcus ride to the park by himself. We have to give them bits of independence for them to grow, but it’s scary. And he was so proud of himself, I’m sure!

Karen, OMG I thought it was a MAN in those beginning threads! I have to go back and read them. That’s hilarious the way you said That was ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was thinking about your idea about the Lindberg Trial and dinner after. Sounds good, but the only problem is that I get very emotional when I hear abut that trial, because of Bruno Hauptman (sp) being executed mistakenly. It was a very intense trial. Are you acting in it? Directing? Do tell! I’m sure we’ll get together here or there.

The talk about weight, sizes, diets, exercise, etc. reminded me of a true story I want to share with you. About 2 years ago, I was on line in a supermarket. The cashier was a teenage girl who asked me if I wanted her to get someone to help me carry my bags to my car since I was pregnant. Well. I wasn’t pregnant. I was mortified, because I knew I had a tummy, but I swear I didn’t think I looked pregnant. I was embarrassed enough to want to shrivel up and disappear, but I kept my composure, looked at her with a smile, and said “I’m not pregnant, just too much cake and cookies”. The girl didn’t seem to care either way, just went on with packing up my bags.
I was sick, wanted to cry, as everyone in the general area heard all this. But God sent an angel. Right behind me in line was a big hunk of a fireman, dressed in his firefighter clothes except for the big hat/helmet. He obviously heard what was said, because he said to me “sweetie, my wife looks just like you and I have her for dessert every night.” All I could do was smile and get the hay out of there as fast as I could. My confidence was lifted tenfold, and I actually felt sexy at that moment. My embarrassment was gone because of this man. Now, someone might think he was being fresh, but he wasn’t at all.
I love remembering this incident.

Tori, Jesse doesn’t have a myspace site, because I think it’s a little too mature for him. But I’ll try again to get him to post on our thread.

For the gift bags, my city has 5 boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx), and each has something unique associated with it. It’ll be fun to gather the items.

(A s s iling too funny)
Tig, a lot of people don't know that my name is pronounced ASHling, so you can imagine all the a s s jokes I get! Or sometimes they call me Eye-ling (from Ais sounding like aisle.)

I’m going to go check out the fantasyfashionleague.com
