I was going to wear something I have, but I haven't bought a new dress since I was matron of honor for my sister in 1997. My mother was horrified.lol

I need new shoes, too. The ones I have look a little worn.

I also want to lose weight. I've lost 5lbs. since 1/1. Only about 15 more to go. Well, maybe 20.

(and no EBay...I want to go SHOPPING)

LOL I haven't been in a real shoe store in I don't know how long!!

I LOVE chiffon dresses, even though I don't own one. It sounds lovely. And it sounds formal enough. I'm wondering, if the man wears a tux, does the lady wear a floor length gown?

Franco, has your DW thought about what she's wearing to Formal and Semi nights?

I think 9 times out of 10 a tux does call for a full length gown. If my hubby goes with a dark suit, a T length would be ok though. I guess he would need the suit for semi formal night anyway.

I guess he will stick with a dark suit unless I find a full length that I like. I will look after I lose the weight. :earboy2:

Hi gang.
The formal night people will be wearing a variety of clothes. Some dress to the nines with tuxes & gowns - some are semi - some even came casual.
I took pictures on my Aug cruise of the meeting of the capt. & the formal night dinner. Take a peek.

I went casual last time. This time providing I don't gain weight. I will be wearing a gown from being a brides maid. That is on that site also.

Jill :moped:

It would be really cool if we had our dinner's scheduled together.
They say the cruise schedules your seating according to the ages of your travel party and most of our kids are the same age.

I say wear what you are comfortable in.
My dresses tend to be tea length, but I consider them more formal because of all the sequins. I originally purchased them for Christmas parties I've attended.
(I'm too short for long gowns. I look taller in a short dress and high heels.)
DD and her GF tend to go with just below the knee for formal dress as well.

Aisling: I see you fixed Aladdin's sign on dilemma!

LOL I haven't been in a real shoe store in I don't know how long!!

Well, maybe I'll just have to take you out shopping,
the disney store sells these beautiful pink and purple princess shoes
you just gotta try 'em! ;)

I have a short, just below the knee, black dress.(I'm short, too, 5'4") The neck line is all beads and sequins. I bought it for a holiday wedding. The body is fitted, but the bottom of the skirt is flowing. It is one of those very dressy short dresses that would go with a tux. Now if I could only lose those darn 20lbs.

Your dress sounds very pretty!

Now if I could only lose those darn 20lbs

Patience my friend...

I started my diet immediately after our vacation this past December and with some determination expect to be down by summer.

The keys to my effort is eliminating after dinner snacking, sit ups and leg lifts every night (I'm starting on my midsection first and then I'll work up to a full workout by March), and limiting starches like potatoes and bread.

As long as I stick to the exercising part I should do well. Diet only goes so far without exercise;)

I know. Unfortunatly, I have an injured neck and ankle. My neck has a permanently damaged nerve from delivering my middle child. So, it is hard to find exercises that do not cause strain in the neck. My ankle is almost better from tripping carrying a stroller. I am gradually getting back to my walking. I've been seriously thinking of joining a place called "Curves". It is a chain of small exercise locations. They guide you through a cycle of exercises. The best part: Women Only.

I have managed to lose 6lbs. since 1/1. :cool1:
That's just enough to keep me encouraged.

Walking is always good

I have a few friends that belong to curves...and they highly recommend it.

I prefer to exercise at home. We have a free gym at work but home life is so demanding it's impossible for me to even use that one...I recently bought the windsor pilates cd and cindy crawford's 1 hour workout video.

Home would be more convenient for me as well in theory. But, with the kids around I never seem to get myself to exercise. With being an at home mom, I thought curves might give me some place to go besides the kids' school and the grocery store. My husband likes me to get away from the madness, too. :rockband:

In scanning this thread, I've noticed many referrences to SOG. I wonder how many of us are military.

We're Navy Surface Warfare Center!!

Who else is out there? What branch?

Yeah....if I were a SAHM, I would go...
but I work 9 to 10 hours a day and I've tried to go in the gym afterwards I always get the "when are you coming home" call. -So I stopped trying-

~as a SAHM you gotta get yourself some "me" time to stay sane~

I'm the "military brat," my Mom has served as Army, national guard, army reserve and Navy. I think Franco was a Marine (correct me if I am wrong please Franco.)

I'm very proud to be able to cruise with so many vets.

No, I was U.S. Army and proud of it. Just did my three years, Vietnam 68-69 (Long Range Recon Partrol) when I was youing and healthy. :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

Oh, by the way my sister and her family are going, too. They are Army reserves.

Good morning 3xTC!

This is gonna be a great trip!

Happy Tuesday fellow Cruisers!

Only 338 days to go...and only 17 days before we can start checking air fare for the trip up and back!

Hey Franco

You changed your tag, cool!

:rolleyes1 (Notice how Aisling is NOT getting into the diet talk!!! )
