Karen, please tell me that your family is going to be in the talent show on the cruise! :cheer2:

Kayla will most likely perform. She is working on a number from Disney's Broadway show Aida. I do mostly backstage things - stage manage, produce, direct - Dom does lighting, sound the website. But we are all together and love it!!

Now for some suggestions for Pirate costumes pirate: --- black sweat pants with elastic at the ankle pulled up to the knee for knickers. Striped socks. A larger size button down shirt not tucked in with a belt or sash tied at the waist. Easily found at Walmart or your favorite discount store.

We have a HUGE Halloween outlet opening in our area in an abandoned Franks Garden and Crafts shop. I can't wait for the day after Halloween for the sales! DD wants a tri-corner hat that I will add plumes and trim to! Give me a hot glue gun and I can create anything.

Bad news...Polly the bunny was left out of her hutch on accident in the playhouse fenced yard (we called it forx knox) last night but some how she got out and Jenny Rose (our 80 lbs dog) got at her. To shorten the story...

Polly is in surgery, her tail is being amputated and her skin that was ripped and torn is being mended. The vet is looking for damage to her rectum. If this is found she will be put down.

Please keep Polly and Molly and the rest of us in your prayers.

I’ll send out a post when we know if she is okay or not.

Nan

She has made it from “surgery”. Dr Larson (a very kind lady) is worried about infection and Polly’s eating. The dirt was very ground into the wound(s) so she flushed them as much as she could and didn’t shave too much more fur off since that could move into the site and also infect her. We are to pick up Polly at 4pm. Between now and then we are moving her hutch into the house (playroom) so that we can keep a closer eye on her and so that she is not disturbed by other animals (like that viscous Border Collie that lives with her) Jenny is feeling remorse, as best as she can. Her head is down in her basket and we all have a new chant…”No Bunny”

The next few days will be critical in Polly’s recovery so please do keep the prayers coming. Molly, Paul & I feel terrible about not getting her back in her hutch. This was our worse fear realized for Polly.

Thanks to all who have shared their good wishes, I’d love to tell you all individually but I must rearrange the furniture in the house to make room for the bunny's hutch now.

Nan

Nan - so sorry. Hugs and kisses to all. Here's to a speedy recovery.

Poor little thing! It makes me sad to think how frightened she must have been! Sending pixie dust! :wizard:

I'm wondering how Kris did today on her first day back to school. I think she said no kids yet, but still, it officially back-to-school for her.

I had a rough day at work with a patient (47 years old) with a failed kidney transplant. Yesterday, he was so depressed and wanted to die, won't take his meds, won't speak. I spend over an hour with him, just to keep him company, so he wouldn't feel alone (he has no real family), but today I found out that last night he was moved to the hospital (our facility is a "care" facility). I didn't get much info, but I'm hoping it does him good, that he'll come back in better spirits. He's waiting for another kidney, the last one being from cadaver...not a good idea in my opinion. Anyway, after I got busy with my music rounds, I felt better, my mind was occupied. One good thing, though, a woman on a ventilator for 3 years is being weaned off, and is doing well. Ok, enough of work for now.

Now for something icky-----------we have a mouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I would DIE when I saw the little bast...I mean the cute little thing, run across the room last night. DH was sleeping, this was at 1 AM, and thank goodness he slept through my SCREAMING :scared1: ! I went out right away and bought 6 traps, and Chad loaded them up. Jesse wrote little notes which he put next to the traps..."Free Food Step Right Up", "This Is Not A Trap", drew a picture of a girl mouse, and then Chad, being the almost 20 year old had to get bad and write "You're A Dead Mickey!"
We have NO experience with mice, and it showed because Chad set the traps wrong, and the little SOB ate the food without tripping the traps!

We're gonna get him tonight! But I won't look when I leave for work in the morning. I DO NOT want to see! :faint:

Off to do some errands, then cooking, then folding clothes, then Dising until my eyes can't take it anymore!!

BBL :sunny:

Sorry about your patient. Having worked near the Critical Care Unit, I can empathize with you. It breaks your heart. I could never do what you do, working with patients. God bless you for that!

I hate to break it to you .... living in the country in a 100 yo house, a winter without mice is a miracle. And yes they are smart and can get the bait off the traps without tripping them.

Now if you get a cat .... they are great micers!!! My Tig (not you, Tig) and Tink were amazing at catching mice!! Of course they are both gone, so I can imagine this winter. Happy hunting!

We have a lot of mice at the prison. We have sticky traps & they get caught on them. If you put them in the trash on the trap they get off of them. One of the inmates showed me what to do. You run water on them while they are on the sticky trap over a bucket & die a rapid death. (better than watching them squirm in traps). Personally I think they are kinda cute it's the 2 inch cockroaches we have (at work) that I hate.

Nan--prayers for Polly!
Aisling--mice, yuk! Kitties my whole life have probably kept them away from homes...but did have one 2 years ago IN MY DESK at school! Opened a drawer and something moved, I jumped & screamed & he popped his head out, jumped out & ran! The next day he left 'presents' all over my desk the next day! Gives me the heeby-jeebbies just thinking about it! Didn't think they bothered me all that much until that episode! (Sticky trap took care of him)
First day was OK--in workshops all day. Kinda eased me into it...a bit of info, a few colleagues..but sitting WAY too long. Jazzercise was tough--tired, I guess. Dan took kids w/ him today, and SMIL is taking them tomorrow, all day, I guess. Nice! Dan & I kinda trade off, w/ grandmas filling in where they can. Kids watch TV, play on computer, play games, read...occasionally help other teachers (rarely me)...argue sometimes!
Sorry, not much chatty...gonna take a while to get up to speed! REALLY want a Diet Pepsi, but have had 3 plus 2 cups of coffee...about twice as much caffeine as have had all summer...probably why I am tired!
Gonna go veg...
Kris
PS Welcome Dede--I AM IMPRESSED! I don't think even I have read EVERY page...I think I just started whenever I joined in!

Grim and Dede, I got a little package from Costco today!!! I almost fainted, because I thought they were sending the docs already, but it was a very nice planing book on the excursions, what to pack, what's allowed, immigration info, lots of cool stuff. AND I got my ressie confirmation for AKL! Woo hoo!

I took out the moped and couldn't find the brakes...

ha ha ... obscure humor ... remember I like to talk in :smilies:

;)

How are you this fine Monday evening?

I'm praying for DH to bring me home a comfortable chair :ouch:

Okay, next update we are home. Polly had quite a few stitches in her hinny and she did have most of her tail removed. Dr. Larsen says a small tip was saved (not really sure why?). As I mentioned the real worry is infection. She will get antibotic pills twice a day for(ever) 2 weeks or so. She doesn’t seem to want them right away so we may have to crush them into strawberry jam or yogurt says Dr. Larsen. We did a complete cleaning of her cage and moved it in the house (P U nice huh) and she seems ok. She ate 2” of carrot and nibbled on her chow. Waiting for her to take a drink next….

I’ll get a picture of her new digs and post that for the next update.

Thanks for the prayers and keep ‘em coming.

Nan

p.s. Molly is holding up ok. She is very upset about forgetting to put Polly away, but hopefully this is a lesson learned and she’ll be ok from it all. She is grateful for all the hugs and warm wishes for Polly’s recovery.

::yes:: :angel: :grouphug:

~For you Molly~

It's okay, that's how we all learn....:( Unfortunately it's by mistake ...

-on the bright side, taking care of pets will get alot higher on the list from now on eh?

~Sometimes it takes a drastic event to remind of us of what's important~

no matter how cliche, this cliche rings VERY true.
