Christmas Carol

We saw this movie yesterday (in 3-D) and I must say we loved it! It has become my favorite movie-version of A Christmas Carol (previously the George C. Scott version). I was blown away by the detailed animation. I also liked how it really set the mood at the beginning, showing how truly lonely Scrooge was. I did not care for the rather idiotic 'chase' scene (not in the original story, needless to say).

One of the 'small details' I especially liked was in home of Bob Crachett: on the wall was a portrait of a young Charles Dickens, as he appeared when he wrote A Christmas Carol (before he grew his beard).

We saw it this past Saturday in 3-D. We loved it!

It was a little intense if you are planning take little kids. We took DS 12 and DD who is 6. There were a couple of times I thought I might end up having to take DD out but she never said a peep. Sat in her chair and was captivated. There were a couple of times when it made me almost jump out of my seat. Both kids said they really enjoyed it. DS had just finished reading the book for his language class and the movie follows very closely to the book. DD did have some concerns when we got home and asked lots of questions "if the ghosts were going to come to our house, etc." But she went to sleep fine and no scary dreams.

Would most defiinately see it again!!!!!!!

We loved it! Me, dh, dd18 and dd6 saw it in 3D all loved it! Of course it was a little scary, it's a scary story!! Dickens didn't mean for this to be a light, fluffy, funny story and I think Disney did a great job sticking with the meaning. My 6 year old wasn't frightened at all, but then, she's seen the live stage version the past 2 or 3 years so she knows the story and knew what to expect. I think people have come to assume that anything Disney is all roses and butterflies, but that's not what A Christmas Carol is all about. Of course, I tear up at the end, doesn't matter what version of the story, be it a book, movie or stage, you simply HAVE to feel good at the end of it! :goodvibes
