When do you get your Kids pictures taken for Christmas?

I think I had DD's done last year right in the middle of November. And we got them back the second week of December. That's cutting it a little close for me. I think I am going to shoot for the first week of November this year.

We do it usually at the starting of November when the Christmas backgrounds come out. The photo studio is usually busier and that gives me a chance to get her picture taken twice. I like to have the pictures together so that I can include them inside of the Christmas cards which I usually send out at the middle of December.

Normally it's November, but there's a big price break (where I order from ) if you order by Oct 31st. It's hard to think of Christmas in October, and I usually can't get it together by then, but last year I did it!! I'm planning to do it again this year, too ::yes::

Laurie, who LOVES sending Christmas cards!

I take ours since DD really doesn't like to have her picture taken and I'm the only one that can get her to smile. I'll probably start in mid-Nov. I take them a couple of times in different settings.

Second weekend in October at the local photography studio.

This year, our photos will be taken the week of Christmas in WDW. Sooooooo....people won't be getting cards until the beginning of Jan 2005. :teeth:

That's a good reason! :teeth:

I always do a candid shot from our vacation. I've sent out lots of Disney shots! I'm sure many of my friends just roll their eyes and go "they went again........" This year I'm sending one out from our Maine trip to Acadia. It's DH and the three kids on a rock at Schoodic Penninsula.

Usually early to mid November, but I've been known to use one from vacation if there's one I really love. For example, I used a shot from the formal night of our Disney cruise a few years ago.

This year we are going somewhere on fall break, so if a location grabs me we may take this year's photo in October. That way I can get a price break on the cards, too.

I usually take them in october and then have them printed up. So they are out the first week in December. However last year I was sick all fall and then in Disney first week in December. So rather than stress about it.... I did New years cards instead. I think I may just di that again I will have all my addresses in order from the cards I got. And my cards won't get lost amongst everyones pile of Christams cards. they will stand out a little more.:wave2:

DS's birthday is first week of December - so that's when. And then I make the cards myself, so I usually can get out in enough time.

:earsgirl:

I like to mail my cards the first week of December, so I always check with the photo place to see how many weeks they are taking for processing. I usually end up taking them right around Halloween, give or take a few days on either side.

We took ours last year the second week of December. It is the photo below in my signature.

We have friends who do this every year. Instead of Christmas cards, they send a Happy New Year card. It's nice to get it in January, after the Holidays are over and things have settled down a bit.

We use a candid shot for our cards. Whenever we do something as a family, I try to get my DS's to cooperate enough to take a picture together.

This years picture is all ready to go. Just need to have them printed up. :D

Those of you who get professional photos done, how much does it cost you to do it? Do you send out wallets in a regular card, or do you send those picture cards that look like postcards? In the past years, my husband and I have taken a photo with our bunnies with his digital camera and then I would print out the photos on our computer about half the size of a wallet size photo. last year we used a picture taken of us on an Alaskan cruise in July since I loved the glacier background and I was 6 months pregnant at Christmas and didn't feel like taking photos then since I was so huge and didn't really have anything nice to wear. This year, however, our daughter will be 10 months old at Christmas so I want to send a photo of her, but I don't want to take it too early since they change so much in a short amount of time at that age. We had professional photos done July 17 and picked them up August 5, but since the holidays are more crowded, I'm guessing we'd have to go the beginning of November to get them back in time. But then I thought, wow, that will be a huge expense since we send out around 75 Christmas cards, with 8 wallets on a sheet, even if we get another $3.99/sheet coupon it will still cost a fortune, so maybe we'll just print our own. Just wondering what others do and if that would be too much to spend on Christmas cards (of course my husband will say it's too much, but if everyone else spends that much then I have an excuse).

Usually I have them taken in November. Two years ago I was late having them done. We were at WDW when I finally dropped them in the mail!

Justthat, I usually take my own pictures. I usually have them printed at Shutterfly or Ofoto if they are digital. One of them will even address them if you want for a small fee.

Last year I had them printed at our local Walgreens because they were offering a special for picture postcards. And postcards are even cheaper to mail! Walgreens had them ready the same day I ordered them, so the picture could be VERY current!

Another option would be to use a picture-maker machine. I forget how many wallets you can get to a sheet, but it's reasonable.
