Christmas Bonus

I would like to add I got a $125 dollar bonus
Okay, you win. I'd far rather get nothing than a $125 bonus.

I hear that. My company did a huge outsourcing project this year to India. Everyone wonders not if but when the full-time employee layoffs will begin. Management either sends tasks offshore or hires consultants instead of f-t employees now. I'm just thankful every two weeks when my paycheck envelope doesn't contain a pink slip in it.

:sad2:

This is very scary stuff indeed. You are right to be thankful, I hope everything works out for you. The best thing to do in this situtation is to be prepared. Update your resume, *just in case*. Get out there and network as much as possible. Talk about your skills when you're out, you never know who has a brother or niece that has a connection. The holidays are a perfect excuse to "get in touch" with those you've worked with in the past who might know of another job. You may never need it, but it's fun to reach out to old pals anyway, and at least you'll be taking action.

Good luck, happy holidays...

I can't complain too much, I suppose. We got a day & a half off of work--although we weren't informed of the half-day until yesterday morning, a couple hours before our time to leave. As for the bonus--it's been delayed until after the first of the year. I never count on it because the amount changes every year (of course, there was the one year where they gave us the entire week off paid, but no money bonus). It's like working for the absent-minded professor. :rotfl:

Christmas bonuses are so indicative of the overall economy. It's not surprising.

DH works for the federal government. He gets no Christmas bonus...and for twenty years' flying experience, his income is nothing compared to guys on the outside.

No Christmas bonus. SWMBO's company gave everyone in the company a $75 L. L. Bean gift card and a REALLY nice party. Real bonuses in her company are handled in January and her boss recommended her for a bonus equal to 10% of her salary.

But does he get a guaranteed pension? And does he have good medical benefits?

DH gets a bonus in Feb if the company met its goals. Actually, each division gets a different bonus based on how well they did in sales, etc. We never know if it will be nothing or a substantial amount.

I actually got a bonus this year, most definitely surprised me. Considering the company I work for does not pay the best salary. So I am hoping my raise will be a little bit better next year.

Yep...same here...we probably work for the same company.

no "bonus" around the holiday at all..not even a holiday party.

heck - I wonder if we can even leave a bit early today?!?!

Same here too! Not even a party or celebration of any kind. What a bunch of Scrooge's. I work for a large company too...I suppose the CEO's need the extra money to pay for their vacations homes and plastic surgery?
Oh, and we USED to be able to leave 2 hours early for holidays but they ended that about two years ago when we merged with another large company. I am going to leave 30 minutes early anyway. :rolleyes1

We get no Christmas bonus, not even a card from management wishing us a Merry Christmas. All employees were "encouraged" to attend our holiday soiree in our Convention Center for lunch. Had no choice as they closed the employee cafeteria.

All salaried personnel were made to serve and clean up. It was "fun" to try and clean up on crutches.

Sorry to here that most of you didn't get anything. We were told yesterday that end of the year bonuses were OK'd. The funny thing is that we don't get them until 1/15, but that's fine with me. From what we have been told it's suppose to be a very nice bonus, and much like the one we got last year.

Just like with anything, until we good the word that we're getting them, I never expect to get anything other than a Christmas party.

My Dad has worked for the same company for 47 years and he got $300. :rotfl: He's an independant contractor with the company so I guess he can't complain.

DH gets a bonus around March if they meet certain goals as a company. This is a new thing the past few years. They also have a huge Christmas party and they give out awesome gifts. I have NO complaints about his employer.

I had a donation made in my name. Very nice but I really could have used the cash since DH has been unemployed for 2 months! LOL!

Son-in-law always gets one, but this year it was VERY large - more than twice what he received last year..

Then - out of the clear blue sky - my DD (who has NEVER gotten a Christmas bonus) received one even LARGER than her DH's today..

The huge smiles and giddiness around here is unbelieveable! I'm SO happy for them.. Always nice to know that you're appreciated by your employer.. :flower:
