Christmas Bonus

Ours technically isn't a Christmas Bonus - but because we hit a certain number profit wise we were going to receive a trip to Mexico. Apparently, a majority of the people I work with were sick of free trips so people argued and now we are getting $1200 in our last check of the year. The big uproar now is - will that be paid to us as a bonus or our regular pay. I don't care - frankly - I am happy to get anything they want to give me.

Also, because I hit my goals for the year, I am getting the Friday before Christmas and the following week off paid. So, I am pretty excited!

We do get bonuses, but I'm not sure exactly how much. Last year was my first year with the firm and for first-year employees, you get a pro-rated amount. We should be getting our bonus next Friday though since that is the date of our holiday party and that's when they normally give them to us.

Hubby was a temp at his place last year. They gave him a $50 Amex gift cheque. So now we have to wait and see what he's going to get.

We went to WDW back in January, so those bonuses were great. We used them for food money for that trip. We're planning another trip for next December and we've already decided that any bonus we get this year is going back into the Disney Food Fund.

We have always gotten two weeks pay, however this year the grapevine is saying we are not getting one. Would be nice if the Doctors would just tell us it's not happening, instead it looks like nothing is going to be said.

We don't get a bonus but we did get a good chunk of retro-pay today for our last raise. We also get to be off from Dec. 15 - Jan. 3. One more week

None for us, but we do get the week of Christmas off.

I'm a waitress and all the employees at the restaurant do get a Christmas bonus. How much depends on how long you've been there. My first year I got $20 and the same for a couple years after, then they upped it to $30, then $40. Last year if I remember correctly I got $50. We usually get them the last week before Christmas.

DH does not get them, but one company he works for gives a "sign on" bonus each year when he signs the contract with them. He got about $1800 last year.

We're supposed to get one, but the place I work for is just barely able to keep itself out of bankruptcy. So I didn't get one last year and probably won't this year. :confused3

Last year everyone at DDad's company got a book; Who Moved My Cheese? :rotfl: I wondered if they were trying to prepare people for upcoming layoffs...

I've been working in a small law office for the last 6 years, there are only 3 of us........no raises or bonuses (except for the owner) I also have a very hard time taking vacation days as I'm the only support person to two attorneys - BAH HUMBUG!!!

When I worked in a larger downtown law firm we would get our Christmas bonus the first Monday in December and it was a month's pay - I miss that.

Yes, and I must have done a good job this year because it's $5000!!! I was floored.

DH will get a Target GC for maybe $50 he's not sure.

My company doesn't do 'Christmas' bonuses. The only bonus we have the opportunity for is a performace type bonus. If the company as a whole makes a certain % over target we get something. The problem is the housing market is in the tank (I work for a Forest Products company). As of the end of Nov it looked like we may actually get about a weeks pay. This would only be the 3rd time in my 12 years.

I've only had one job where I didn't get a bonus. My first job I got $500 (working part time) and at my current job we usually get the equivalent of one week's net pay. We already got ours this year. I never complain, I'm always happy to get anything. This year, we also got a new Coach bag. I'm so thrilled, I've always wanted a Coach bag, and the one they picked for me is perfect!

DH is working for a new company this year (he started last January), and we've heard that they get bonuses. His Christmas party is a week from today, so I guess we'll find out then. I'm not necessarily expecting anything, but it would really be nice. His last job he got a $25 gift certificate (they bought gift cards to about 10 different places and then you randomly picked one off the tree at the Christmas party) and the job before that he got $10 (I know we should be appreciative of anything, but at that point I kind of felt they shouldn't have even bothered).

My last company gave a "profit sharing" %age of the company's earnings on Dec. 15th instead of a Christmas bonus. I am pretty ticked off because I was forced to leave the job less than a month before the bonus would have been issued, and it is based on how long you have been with the company. It would have been around $1800, and now I get nothing. At my new job, nobody seems to know if there will be a bonus. Somebody mentioned we might get a $30 gift card, and somebody else mentioned a $100 bill. Either way, I'm going to miss that $1800.

Nope. Our "bonus" is that our jobs haven't yet been outsourced to Pakistan, India, the Phillipines, or China. :confused3

I work for a Fire Department.

No X-mas $$$. Ever.

I'm not complaining though. It's a great job & I would not trade it for anything (ok, MAYBE a winning Lotto ticket (a really BIG one !!!)).

But, as a special treat this year, I get to work Christmas day !! Woo Hoo!!!!

Used to get 5% of salary - then it was profit sharing (got up to 10.5% one year) ... then they rolled it into the base pay. I like this because it is guaranteed. I used to use the bonus to help pay for the big yearly trip (to WDW, of course), so when it was rolled into my weekly pay, I just had that much taken out and put in a special account.

WDW ... April 2007!

Hubby gets a great bonus ( its not technically a xmas bonus, more of an end of year bonus) but he gets this week.. last year before taxes it was $12,500. then they double it and add a percentage of his yearly salary and add that total to his retirement fund...He job is great like that....he also gets 12 weeks paid maternity leave when I have the baby....( he has been there for 3 years) when I had emma he only worked there for 2 weeks... he left work early to go to the hospital and an hour later he got a phone call telling him to take the next 2 weeks off paid and they sent us a fruit basket and added $500 to Emma's college fund...

My husband has got one each year (usually between $500-$800) I got an address book once (you know, like the kind from the dollar store) This year we were told that we're getting some kind of book (work related) that you need to read over our Christmas vacation. Nice huh?

Bummer! We don't get one at all.

This is DH's 1st Christmas with this company. He is supposed to get his Christmas bonus check today. He has surpassed his sales goals and customer service goals consistently for the last 4 months, so I'm hoping that it will be significant - it is our Christmas present fund!

Wow, quite the difference. From nothing and working christmas day to thousands of dollars....

I am the giver. Typicaly this time of year is slow for real estate so it is hard to show my employees how much we appreciate their efforts.
Maybe we should do christmas bonuses in june...

We got our bonus today! 2 weeks salary. Not bad. But since they didn't take out medical, 401k, etc. you can really see how much you would be taxed....scary!
