Returned from our Christmas trip to OKW. Arrived on 12/19, about 2pm. Check in not crowded. Room 2423, ready for us. Room was clean, no issues. OKW was full to capacity. Saw some with Christmas lights, trees lit up. I hung lights on our balcony.

Had 1 breakfast, one "late" lunch and one dinner at Olivia's. Food was good as usual. Service for breakfast and lunch was slower than normal, but we were not in any rush.

At many of the restaurants we ate at (we do lunch and dinner out every night), I saw the head chef out and about talking to guests. Must be something new as I have never seen this before.

Only used the pool once, and it was the kids, not me. The kids used the community center a few times, although not any of the organized activities.

It was good to be "home". Any questions, just ask.

Thanks for the report. Do you have any pictures of the Christmas lights? We've never been to OKW in December; I'd love to see how the resort looks all lit up. :)

We've always found the service at Olivia's to be slow, but it never bothered us. It just seems to fit in with the relaxed atmosphere of OKW.

The decorations at OKW are nothing fabulous. Nice, yes, but nothing compared to other resorts. I think that is how the feel is though-laid back, so the decor matches that.

I have pictures, but they aren't great. I am sure others have better ones.(plus I am computer illiterate, and have no idea how to do it:sad1: ).

The chefs come out to speak with guests who have dietary concerns. We have a son with food allergies so we always speak with the chef, they are really wonderful. Maybe that's what you saw?

We were your "neighbors" while you were there. We were at SSR 12/20-12/28, had one of our best trips ever! Glad you had a good one too. :)

It sounds like a wonderful Christmas trip! Do you do one often?

Bobbi:goodvibes

We were there same time, did a split stay with 4 days @OKW 12/20-12/24 were in #6420, Had our tree in the front window and our balcony decorated with lights. :thumbsup2

Our last Christmas trip was 4 years ago, and we stayed at BWV. I could probably spend every Christmas at OKW, but DH says no. :sad1:

As for regular trips, DH and I go yearly to the F&W festival, then one other time with the kids, usually in the summer. We own at OKW and really like it there, so that is where we stay.

Oh, and as an FYI...we were walking through the BW lobby on Christmas morning, looking at decorations and I heard a CM say they had availability that night. I did not hear if it was DVC or not, but I just thought it strange that they had rooms available.

We were at OKW 12/22-12/27 in building 45 along the waterway. We put up lights on the balcony and had a tree up in the room. My wife commented that it seemed liked the resort itself had less decorations than normal. In the past, they have changed the bulbs in the string lights hung along the docks with red and green lights but this year they didn't. We wish they would get more into the holidays like the other resorts.

One thing we were glad to see this trip was the addition of the community fire pit. We love the group camp fires at HHI.

We saw the pit from the water while on the boat to DTD. I wondered when it was used. Any ideas?

I was there 12/24 thru 1/2....i found the resort to be really festive and the people to be great.....we where in 31 something and we had lights and small fake tree.....I loved it on every level!!!
