From Christmas day to New Year's day are the absolute MOST BUSY days of the year at Disney.

It was great to see all the holiday decorations. We will not be returning that week again.

Yes, this is the busiest time of year at WDW, but we think it's one of the best times. Just make sure to plan carefully and don't expect to have short wait times at attractions. But there is so much going on (shows, storytellers, etc) that it more than makes up for the lines. We tend to get up early and hit the attractions we really want to do and then get out of the parks until evening when we either have a dinner reservation or a show to see. The one thing we learned not to do is go to the MK on Christmas day. We have a breakfast AR there at the Crystal Palace on Christmas morning but we will be going directly back to the resort following. Make sure you have AR's made if you want to eat at table service restaurants.

Thank you Cmadsen. Something told me not to go to MK on Christmas, so I'll be there the day after.

EXTREMELY crowded. Get in early and use fastpasses.

Last year it rained like h-e-double toothpicks on Christmas day and there was a mass exodus from the MK after the Christmas parade was cancelled. That would have been a heckuva time to do some rides.

Exactly how crowded is Christmas at Disney?

If this isn't your first visit to Disney World, and you aren't trying to see and do everything, Christmas is a wonderful time to be at Disney. Just relax, do what you can and take it all in. It's my favorite time of year to be there.

I went last year for a week beginning the day after Christmas. We planned well and that got us ok. At MK, it got terribly crowded but it was manageable IF you get there as early as possible. We finished FantasyLand and Mickey's Toon Town before 9:30 on an EMH. Then we did Tomorrowland (The park was picking up at this time). We had to wait in lines at Fronteirland and Adventureland but we just chose the busiest times to relax. The next day we came back to MK and hit Adventureland and Fronteirland first and then booked it back to Fantasyland.

Yes it gets crazy but if you plan ahead, you'll be OK. Character meals are a godsend because the kids love them and it gets the adults a chance to relax.

If you are the type that loves what they call belly to back crowds, you will be fine, as others have stated. However, if you are like us, you will be REALLY upset. The crowds are totally unreal. Can't understand why people enjoy those types of crowds. It's just too much pressure. And the fast pass doesn't help all that much when the crowds are so huge. And this is all of Christmas week.

Side note to TDC Nala: We went to the MK during the christmas season Dec,11th, two years ago, and during the parade, it started to rain like h-e double hockey sticks, {we didn't see any toothpicks } and it was quite comical. As the rain came down harder, the bands {they had guest bands from local high schools} started to move faster and faster, almost to the point of running, and it looked like we were watching a home video played on fast foward!

We too will be in WDW during Christmas week and I am not worried at all. I have researched this trip for a year so know what to expect. ADR's are booked for each day and plans have been made taking into account the fact that it will be very crowded. We plan on only attempting to do a few rides a day and are mainly going to the parks for the Christmas atmosphere. We also plan on arriving early and leaving at lunch to do non park activities and just relax at the resort. I'm sure you will have a great trip. Why not plan some time just going around the resorts to look at the beautiful decorations or perhaps book into one of the spas as well.
