Christmas at Disney - will the rates go down?

We were watching the Disney Holiday special on the Travel Channgel last night, and it made me think about postponing our upcoming April trip until the Christmas and spending the holiday there. However, my great idea fizzled out pretty quick after I went online and priced it. OMG! It's around $5,000! That's nearly double what we're paying for WL in April!

For those who have spent the holidays there - does deals come out to help make it more affordable, and if not, is it worth it? It looks like so much fun, but it might kill me knowing that I could've gotten two trips in for that price!

Christmas is always the most expensive time. People really differ on going around Christmas...while the decorations and special events are lovely, I just can't handle the long waits, extreme crowds, high prices, etc. That being said, there are THOUSANDS of people who cannot imagine going at another time. I think a lot of it is personal preference.

Xmas is the HIGHEST priced time to go.
EASTER, too, if your dates coincide w that.
We just got back form CBR and it was very nice.

Thanks! I had heard it was pricey, but I didn't realize it was THAT much more! Back in 2007 we got a really great AP rate at AKL a few weeks before Christmas - maybe we'll just to do that again. I do love the idea of a FW cabin at Christmas, though...

Early December is value time so way cheaper. Too bad you can't still start the vacation in value season and get the value price right through Christmas. That blew my whole Christmas at Disney idea out the window. Poor me hunh!

Doubt the rates will go down. This is prime season and it's usually pretty well packed. Don't know if this year will be different because of the economy but I wouldn't count on it.

We were able to go for the first time 12/18 - 12/23 because we rec'd a pin code in August. I can't remember how much we saved but we stayed at POFQ and the package cost was about the same as when we went in 2005 and stayed at ASMU and had free dining.
