The parks look as if they will be really busy on Christmas Day and NYE. I was thinking I might book something at a resort hotel for these days - how do I find out what the de luxe hotels are offering. What would you recommend for me DH, DD(13), DS(10)?

Thanks.

Hi

You can check out www.disneyworld.com and here you can check availability and make online reservations for Disney Resorts.

Many people on the boards use Dreams Unlimited who check for discounts even after you have made your reservation.

We went last Christmas/New Year and all of the resorts were beautifully decorated. A resort on the monorail near MK is great for Christmas time as it is so easy to return to your room for a break from the crowds. There's lots of information here about all of the resorts - http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/Resorts/resortmain1.htm

We stayed at The Polynesian and although it was a lovely resort it didn't really feel very festive to me with its south-seas theming! However, we also had some nights at The Wildernes Lodge and this has to be the best decorated resort at Christmas, the theming was just fantastic. The resort is in a fairly good location, there is a boat journey to Magic Kingdom and the bus service was quite efficient.

We visited The Grand Floridian for dinner and it was amazingly decorated at Christmas and the gingerbread house in the lobby is great for children.

When I was in WDW over Christmas two years ago we spent the day of Christmas Eve resort hopping and it was one of our best days. I think we parked at DTD, took the boat to POR and walked along the river. Then we drove to the Yacht and Beach Club and had ice creams at Beaches 'n' Cream followed by a walk around the lake. Then we drove to the TTC and took the boat to WL where we happened to bump into Santa in the lobby. We sat in the rocking chairs with hot chocolate and just chilled. We then took the boat back to TTC and the monorail to the Grand Floridian where we had booked dinner at 1900 Park Fayre. It was absolutely magical there with a chamber orchestra playing carols in the lobby. I would really recommend spending some time visiting the resorts, particularly at Christmas with the beautiful decorations.

Sian,

That's sounds great - just the kind of info I am after. What did you do for NYE (if you were there). Do you know if the resorts plan special events/dinners/buffetts/fireworks for NYE?
