So I just got a final ruling on my copay for Zoe's first stay at the hospital. I feel horrible. Zoe did take up room in the hospital... received care...etc. I wasn't looking for them to "do away" with the bill. But it seemed a little unfair to be charged a full copay for that stay that cost a fraction of the cost of her actual surgery stay. The director came back with a ruling that it should never have been billed to the insurance and thus no charge to us will be made.
They are reversing the charge to the insurance company...and the amount I owe them has been cut in half. Yay... but.
I feel very guilty. I feel like they should have charged SOMETHING for it. I mean... it took an entire care team to get organized for this day... which they then had to do again once the surgery was canceled. I let them know I appreciated it, but that I feel really bad. I was told I should NOT feel bad. So... I am happy not pay the copay for that day...but feel guilty that they are not getting to bill the insurance for the services that were rendered. .

I just re-booked our outbound flight, but am holding off on return because tickets are so expensive; I'm pretty certain things will stay the same or get better.
Just be glad you don't have to pay more for anything.

So I won't be needing to worry about how to do surgery and the December trip.
A ton of good news, and I am really happy for you!
