Christmas all year long!

YOU ARE NOT A BAD MOM!!!!!

This is a bad mom...

Or her...

I would insert a picture of me next....but :rotfl:

I hate the second guessing part of myself when it comes to doctors and children (this comes from the mom who had her son walking around with a broken arm for 3 days this fall, remember?..I told him to "suck it up there is no way your arm is broken for a second time in 3 months...). I don't think it is the actual doctor visit...but it is the TIME involved and yes sadly the CO-PAY...both which really tick me off when I hear the words "ITS JUST A VIRAL, NOTHING WE CAN DO." If health care were like expectations for anything other business and valued MY TIME I probably would not get so upset. Doctor offices don't get how much stress they places upon parents of children by doing sick visits...because most of the time they act like on the prelim call that you are dumb for calling (either way whether they want to see your child or whether you are being over protective), then you drag a sick child to the office and it is WAIT WAIT WAIT...which at times is intolerable with a sick child.

I can't even begin to imagine all the things that you and poor Zoe have had to endure during her young life...and I complain about a silly twice broken arm. I am so lucky that I can count basically on 1 hand for each of my children how many times they have been sick! I have no idea who I got so lucky...probably cause God only gives you what you can handle and he knows I can't handle sick.

Look at it this way, better to take care of it now then to have something happen while you are in Orlando. Let's get that precious little girl well so she can be a

princess.jpg

like she deserves after this year!

I am sending you :grouphug: because you shouldn't feel bad about not wanting to take her to the hospital! Really the things that you were able to do and say on her behalf at the hospital was a lot more than most moms can do! I mean you can name her medications off the top of your head and some of them were what she has taken in the past! When I have take Damien in to the hospital I have this book I jot everything in from birth medical wise so that I can remember! If I didn't have that I wouldn't be able tell them some of the stuff he's taken! So hang in there! We are all still praying! And I hope that Zoe feels better-- by the way, there were some kids out of Damien's school for strep symptoms with a high fever so something is going around!

I agree on all points with Tammie! Couldnt have said it or found better pictures myself!

Thank you all! You words mean a lot to me. :grouphug::grouphug:

Sorry about making you take her to the hospital. At least you didn't drive to Seattle. I just worried about her temp going up and what if it got worse and not better and you stressing again about possibly not making the trip.

Could NOT have said it better myself.

Hang in there, Ann.

I'm a bit behind - but - WHAT a DAY you had! I'm so glad that's over and that Zoe is getting better. I hope she just keeps on getting better.

DITTO what everyone else has already said - sometimes, just getting the peace of mind from a visit (even if in your gut you knew) is nice to have.

I know we are in a completely separate state but strep is pretty rampid here right now, also. Nolan was sick Mon/Tues and I did as you did... he got sick on Sunday, let him stay home Monday, finally Tuesday took him in knowing it would be viral but that little voice we fight... and I was right... viral... not strep and by later that evening, he was fine. :confused3

Anyway - I hope she continues to get better!

Yep I think that's what's going around here too! For the teachers in this PTR I don't think that sentence is right so I'm sorry but I don't know how else to word it!

"Why yes, I do believe those are the same ailments the children in our town are suffering from as well." <ahem> :goodvibes

Let's see what Tammie thinks! :thumbsup2 And now, I must go start dinner... with football over, the family is home now and I have to start cooking more!! :rolleyes1

Heck I am a math teacher...how would I know how to word things? Sheesh...there are some days I cringe on the DIS after I look at my spelling! :rotfl:

Whatever is going around in your parts is going around in our parts too!

Cook dinner (or at least get it all prep'ed for the night)...oh yeah I do that at 5:15 :scared1: in the morning so that I don't have to deal with it during the witching hours of 4 pm (like we ever get home at that time) and 6 pm!

NO, you didn't make me. I felt like you totally were supporting my decision and encouraging me to go with my gut. And you are right, I was worried about the temp...so at least there was that relief.

Could NOT have said it better myself.

I kept her home today, but I think tomorrow she will return to school. No more fever just a bad cough.

I hope we all can stay healthy for the trip. With so much going around and our little plague monkeys ... it may be a challenge.

phewy on cooking more. I am not big on it. I have such a hard time coming up with something. Steve is an excellent cook and things just come together when he makes food. So much that the kids always ask before eating "did dad make this or did you?" :rotfl:

I haven't heard too many people refer to 4 to 6pm as the witching hours... that is what I have always called it...but.....

Guess what I got in the mail today????

MICKEY MAIL

The real kind with our resort stuff and vouchers!!!! :woohoo:

Just shows how close we are now!!!

AND

Zoe's surgery is scheduled for 1/13! So we don't have to worry there. I did make a call to the primary care doc today to request they remove the notes from her chart stating that I am a belligerent parent who is refusing treatment for her child.

WOW...I am the only one until now that I knew called those hours the same as me...:scared1: great minds think alike?

I hate between 4-6pm...first of all, all I want to do is eat (or go to bed), then there is that thing called homework, and then dh getting home...really makes me a witch!

:woohoo:Glad Zoe's surgery can hold off for a month so you all can have the trip you need and serve!

They did what? Huh, never heard of that before! Sheesh...I probably would have been even more bellligerent finding out they put that on the chart and I would be finding a new doctor!

:lmao: Do you know my Damien's teacher doesn't like me to write things out for her anymore because I don't "finish my letters"-- I sometimes add script with print and such so I'm not a paper grader anymore! But you should see those sharpened pencils:rotfl2:!!!

:woohoo: I am cheering for the mail (hopefully that means mine will be here soon) and for Zoe!! I will REALLY keep praying though that you guys have no worries and the trip goes well!

As far as meeting I didn't know if you wanted to meet with me 2 times (especially in one day) or just one! It's all up to you! I love the idea of the kids going on Figment together though, but I think that Amy is there with her kids alone at that point still so we can't meet up with just the 3 of us.... But I don't want to mess up your plans! So you choose because you guys have lots more days to meet after I leave too!

It is kinda scary... but yes, that time between 4 and 6... right after school... right before dinner... everyone seem to be overwhelmed and cranky. Not sure why I have called it the witching hour...but... I must have heard it somewhere and it stuck. Kira uses it now too...

yes, when i spoke the the second nurse on Friday, she read aloud the notes from the first nurse. I dont think she should have regardless of what they said...but I am glad that she did because I can't have that in there. I mean...anyone who knows me knows how on top of Zoe's care I am and I don't just "refuse treatment" for her.

Actually, if all three of us could meet up that would be cool. Whatever works for you (and everyone else) also don't want to infringe on your family time...but I know that it really sucks not taking an opportunity to see/meet each other when we are basically right in the same area.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for Mickey mail. That would brighten the gloomiest of days.

And the primary care doc said/did what? I cannot believe that. Just from reading here, I know that you would and have done everything for Zoe. Let me at that pompous a**!

It was the nurse at the primary care's office. She made notes that I was uncooperative and refusing treatment for Zoe. There were other words in there regarding how she instructed me and bla bla bla. Ultimately it made it sound as though she were so reasonable and I was out of line. That being said...while I think her note was out of line, the information or instructions she was giving to me was not. I may not have agreed with her, but she was giving the best advice in the best manner she could. It just isn't her fault if I am more intelligent than her. ;)

Yay for Mickey Mail! That has to be so exciting! Maybe mine will come next week.

Sooooo glad to hear they put Zoe's surgery after your trip and Christmas. Then y'all can relax during the trip and over the holidays.

Cannot believe that stuff was written in her chart!
