I will post one day at a time daily and I will try to hit as much as possible without cluttering up the post.
So here we go, the actors DD, DM DS(12) and DD(7)

We packed up the motorhome and drove from a Rutledge,Fl campground(about 20 minutes) to the terminal to begin our journey. However we hit our first small bump upon arrival. We were directed to an empty parking lot to wait until the main gates opened which was fine, we arrived at approx. 9:45 AM. We were told that at 10 we could pull up to the drop off area and unload then I could park the RV in the main lot.
At 10 I pulled up to the gate but was told of a change in policy at the last minute. " Due to the terror alert ,DCL was not letting RV's or rental cars near the main terminal for safety" so I had to make a somewhat difficult U-turn go back into the parking lot I just left and unload our bags at a tent DCL had set up. The DW and DKids then walked to the terminal and I had to pull out of that lot, AGAIN and into the main lot which was empty. After locking the RV up and checking it over I walked a short(warm sunny) distance to the terminal. After two check points I was inside.(I wasn't upset about the changes and even though my RV is a little big, all the turn arounds were easy and the staff outside were very helpful.)
Inside was neat. the terminal was practically empty and nicely decorated. Check in, 5 minutes tops and we were armed with our KTTW cards and primed to go. Everyone explored the terminal and took pics. We were about the fifth family in line to board.
OK embarkation. At about 11:45 the doors opened and in no time we were walking the plank. A quick stop for the family photo(came out good) and we were announced. The decorations in the atrium were very nice. We came onboard and were guided straight to Parrot Key for lunch. I must say that as a first time cruiser I was very impressed with the entire ship.
Lunch! WOW what a spread. We were one of the first in the resturant so there was plenty of food. And yes SHRIMP. The buffet had something for every one and we ate good.
After lunch sign ups at the kids clubs, early and smooth, then to the room. #6558 midship at the elevator lobby. Couldn't have picked a better room. In the room was a bottle of Asti for the DW and while we were there Martel, our steward, deliverd the pearl necklace I had ordered. So far smooth sailing. The bags weren't far behind all in room by 3:30 or 4. Martel was aces, kudos to him.
We explored after and had a good time at the castaway party on deck 9. We then had to get ready for dinner, we chose early seating and the rotation was PPTA.
Our first dinner: table 24 for 4, what a pick. The servers, main Mark from St. Vincent and assistant Jorge(not GEORGE),joke with him, from Chile, both were excellent. They were very friendly, courteous, efficient and gave extra attention to the kids. Mark even had the chef make a grilled cheese for our DD, it wasn't on the menu that night. The food was very good, I know Disney strives for excellent but I just couldn't give it(sorry). The desserts were to die for though. My stomach was mad at me the whole trip! You really do feast like a King or Queen.
After dinner we opted to explore more and get a feel for the ship and where stuff was. The DW isn't to seaworthy and it was funny seeing her get lost. She wore the patch for sea sickness and it worked. I couldn't laugh to much I even got turned around once, OK perhaps twice.
Day one was eventful and exciting and I have no real complaints. We were having fun and were headed out for a day at sea on Christmas eve.
The room was prepared for us with chocolates on the pillows, even on the secret pull down bed the kids didn't know about and our first of four towel animals greeting us with sunglasses a dog.

Day two tomorrow stay tuned for a unexpected hitch in the trip.

:smooth:

Sounds great so far!!

Was the necklace the Mickey Head? My DH got it for me and I love it! In fact, I wear the mickey head on a regular chain everyday!

Musicgirl

Yes it was the pearl necklace with the mickey head and the picture I took of my wife holding it is most definately priceless. I think she wears the mickey head on other necklaces also.
