Hi everyone! I've been on the DIS boards for a while but I'm new to the WISH boards. I've been eating better for a while, but it's not giving me very many results, so today I'm getting serious about my weight loss efforts. I am joining curves on my way home from work and I"m going to start an eating plan. I just have to have some sort of guidelines or I'll cheat. So I think I'll start out with a maximum calorie per day plan. I am 5'3" and weigh 190 lbs, so I t hink that 1500 calories a day is good. I know I need enough, but not too many. Anyone have any thoughts on how many calories a day I need to lose weight? I am also drinking TONS of water and eating every few hours. I break my meals up. For example: I'll have a cereal bar in the morning, then a few hours later, a banana. Then a few hours later a sandwich, few hours later carrots, few hours later 100 calorie pack of wheat thins, then I usually have a normal dinner with my family. Usually a big salad and some meat/side. Then I'll have a snack at night. I'm hoping that this will keep my metabolism up, along with exercising.

Anyway, before I got pregnant, I weighed 110 lbs and was a size 3. I gained 55 lbs and weighed 165 at the time I delivered my son. I really only lost around 10 lbs after having my son and stayed at a size 12. I then joined weight watchers adn lost about 15 lbs and was down to around 140 and a size 9. I thought I still needed to lose weight, but looking back at the pictures, I looked GREAT. Even looking at the pictures right after I had the baby, at a size 12, I looked really good. Anyway, I gained all the weight back and then have continued to put on weight until now I am at 190 (25 lbs more than I was at 9 months pregnant) and a size 18

My goal is to get back down to 140 lbs and a size 9. I'll be so happy to be in single digit sizes, half of what I'm wearing now at that. I never want to be 110 lbs or a size 3. I'd be very happy to be a size 7 and around 130 lbs.

I also have problems with my back. I was in a car accident at 18 and haven't ever recovered. It makes it really hard to get up and exercise. There are lots of things i cannot do, like rollerblading or jumping on the trampoline with my son. Besides that, when I hurt, I don't feel like doing anything. But at the same time, the less I do, the more weight I gain, and the worse my back feels. So I know I need to do this for my health as well.

Thanks everyone for reading this long entry. I'll try to post some pictures in a little while.

Here are some pictures from Disney in may.

In this one, I'm to the far right. Okay, obviously the only fat one in the picture. With me is Mickey Mouse :earsboy: My DS5, my skinny sister and her DS3.

Here is a picture of the rest of the family. As you can see we are a big fat Italian family. We joked that this family vacation shoudl be called my big fat disney vacation. I'm in the back (looking down) and also my 2 skinny sisters our DS' and my mom (2nd on left) and aunt (back on left).

Okay, here is what I've eaten so far today:

Cheese/wheat crackers
small sandwich on roll
100 calorie pack wheat thins
ff yogurt

500 glasses of water :teeth: , really at least 8 12 oz glasses.

I've got about 1/2 of my 1500 calories in for the day. I entered everythigni into fitday.com. Dinner should make up for most of the rest. I'll probably have a salad, baked or grilled chicken and some other side. I'll probably be below my 1500 calories. i may have a snack tonight as well.

Hi, christinadei!! You are doing awesome so far! And WE DO have a lot in common. Sometimes I will catch a reflection of myself at the mall or at home and not even recognize myself. It is hard and it sucks! I have lost 37 pounds or so since May. I started WISH a week ago. I have lost 7 pounds this week and I know that a lot of it is because I am doing a journal. I also know that some of that 7 pounds is water weight...that is fine with me. I am 7 pounds lighter than when I started last week.

Your family is really adorable! My dad is Italian and a lot of that side of the family is overweight. I am also 1/2 Mexican and they are all skinny. I have always been slim, until I got married, then I gained 20 pounds. Then, while I was trying to lose that, I got pregnant. We want to have another baby in the next year or two and I told my DH that I refuse to have another until I lose this weight.

I do eDiets version of Jenny Craig. I do best when I am given a plan. I cannot make decisions on a whim. I will fail that way. So far, I love it! It is super easy!
BTW-you are not as big as you make yourself sound. :flower:
PM me if you want to ask me anything or visit my journal.

Hey Daisy! Thanks for stopping by. I also need some sort of plan/guidelines or I'll eat way too much. When you aren't counting it, one or two cookies, turn into 10 or 15.

So, I joined curves last night and LOVED it! I couldn't believe how easy it is. It is so fun too, it really goes by fast. The ladies there are so sweet and fun. Last night they were doing games and giving away curves cash to buy curves shirts and stuff. I can tell that I'm going to love it. It's so much different than a traditional gym where there are huge, buff guys and tiny thin women. These are all real people! I am so excited about it. I'm going back tonight as tomorrow we are going out of town for the weekend so it's my last chance to workout this week.

As for the eating plan, I plan on using fitday.com everyday to journal what I eat. It's great because it helps me figure out the calories and fat for the things that I'm not sure of. Last night I did well and had grilled chicken, a small amount of rice-a-roni, green beans and a huge salad. Then I had 3 oreo's and skim milk for dessert. Bad? Yes, but I stayed within my calorie range, so that means it's okay to splurge. I do better when I don't deprive myself of anything. So I'm going to treat this sort of like weightwatchers. Everythign is game. I just also know that if I eat pizza, I'm goign to have to have nothing but veggies the rest of the day. So as long as I make sensible choices, I can have a treat or two.

Anyways, I'm feeling good today and ready for work to be over so I can go to curves. :Pinkbounc

I just finished entering everything I ate yesterday in Fitday. I love it so much. It makes it so easy and makes me accountable fore everything I eat. Anyway, I went 60 calories over my 1500 goal, but I'll try to do better today. I shouldn't have eaten thoes Oreos, and I know it. Lesson learned. I did see that I had a perfect balance of fat/carbs/protein. I wonder if that's good? I'd assume so. That's nice to look at. It's nice to know i'm not eating 80% fat or carbs.

You really seem to have it all together!! My family is all from the south (fried chicken, gravy and biscuits) so I can't help but to LOVE that stuff!! It's hard to break old habits, but somewhere down the line, someone has to! I was going to Curves before I moved (from SC to Iowa) and I really loved it. Just stick with it, and make sure that you do all of your work ON the machines. The rest pads are great, but you should be using them for just that...to rest. My instructor told me that if you aren't completely exhausted when you get finished, that you aren't working hard enough. You have made a great step in starting this journal. Good luck!!

Welcome to WISH!!! You're doing pretty well on your first day! Congrats! Sounds like you are on your way to success and keep up the great work.

When the smilies come back on, I'll write a cheer in here. Sorry!

I think that you are going to be very successful!! Keep up the good work! :sunny: :Pinkbounc

Hi and welcome to WISH.

You are doing a great job!!!! Just remember that if you mess up today, tomorrow is a new day and you can start over!!! I too am eating every three hours. Not much just a little something!

Keep up the good work! You can do this!

Thanks. So far so good. I 'm getting ready to eat an afternoon snack of FF yogurt. I'm trying so hard to get my dairy, water and veggies in.

Does anyone know a healthy balance of carbs/protein/fat? Yesterday I had equal amoutns, and I think that that is good, but I'm not really sure. Any thoughts?

Oh and I had a very proud moment(s) this morning. My boss is on vacation, but had to come by the office for a little while and brought his daughter. SO CUTE! Anyway, she's a little sweetie and went and brought me some water (good) and then gave me one of her donuts (not so good). I told her no thanks, and a little while later, she broke it in half and tried to give me half. She said "they are very good" Like I don't know that! Anyway, it was hard to say no to dunkin donuts and even harder to say no to such a little cutie. But hey, my waist will thank me for it one day (that is, when I get a waist again :rotfl: )

Hi, christinadei!! I just wanted to tell you that I hope you have a great weekend and to keep up the great work!!

Hey, sorry I haven't checked in. I had a good weekend, fun anyway. We were out of town and I didn't really track my food. It was impossible, we ate out a lot and other people were cooking. I just tried to eat reasonably. It was nice to get back and back on track yesterday.

Yesterday I ate well and went to curves. I can't believe how much of a workout it is. I was all sweaty and am sore today. I'm totally loving it too. Yesterday I bought a few new workout clothes.

Sorry I haven't been here lately!

Sounds like you did really well over the weekend...

Keep on keepin' on!

I found out that I'm such a planner and organizer. It drives me crazy not to. But the downfall to that is that If I don't journal everything, then I feel like I can go crazy because it's all out of whack anyway. So from now on, I plan on journaling everything. If I'm out of town, I'll have to try to be good and write down everything. I can figure out the info later on fitday.com. It's great that they have so many foods listed.

Had a good day yesterday, other than the small brownie I ate. I made a decision not to totally deprive myself. I want to be able to eat normally and control what and how much I eat. I weigh in today adn I'll see how much I've lost in the past week. If it's not much, I think I'm going to have to go on a strict diet. I guess we'll see. If I can lose weight by eating sensibly and enjoying a treat now and then, great. IF not, we'll, I guess I'll have to suffer for a while until I'm skinny :teeth:

I'm so sore from Curves on monday. I really got a good workout. I'm going to curves again tonight and am excited. I have so much fun and feel so good afterwards. I'm also nervous and excited for weigh in.

Last night for dinner I cooked: grilled pork chops, baked potatos (w/light butter and light sour cream) and salad. It was mmm good too. I love my george forman. I took out chicken breasts for dinner tonight. I'll probably grill those.

Good Morning and Welcome to Wish (a bit belated, but heartfelt, nonetheless!)

Sounds like you're off to a great start!

Have a good week!

Hi! I think that you are doing awesome!! I love the George Forman grill! Isn't it the best?! Keep up the good work and good luck at weigh-in!! :wizard:
