The way I read it, they weren't demoted, just taken off the election coverage to a certain extent, mainly because the experiment in allowing anchors with an obvious bias to conduct interviews and report on the conventions made a lot of people mad. MSNBC won't let Olbermann go because he's their number one ratings guy.

NBC is in such dire straits that Olby is considered their "rainmaker." That's about as bad as things can get for a network.

You should reread it. It says that they won't anchor the election coverage. In the other threads about this very subject, Tink, you would see that this was an experiment. It didn't work out so they put David Gregory in the spot. That's it. It's a non-story. TV does this kind of stuff all the time and surprise, after having a modern day class act (Tim Russert) pass away right before the conventions, they had to make a play to see who would fit. Turns out Matthews and Olbermann don't.

Fine with me. Matthews is incredibly irritating and Olbermann is probably too biased (I haven't seen them anchor, but I've seen enough of both in the past). Don't know about the new guy, hope he's okay.

I can't stand MSNBC, well, I can't stand cable news period. It's ridiculous.

I had an unpleasant experience with Chris Mathews. My family and I were at the Sequoia restaurant in Georgetown. There was a fireworks show. We walked across the deck, excusing ourselves. My shoe caught and I almost fell. Well, that idiot started screaming at me to get out of his way and that he had paid to eat and get a view. Well, I turned to him and said that we had done the same. He is as big a jerk in real life as he is on tv. I wished that I had had a bottle rocket because I would have dearly loved to tell him where he could shove it.
I'm glad he's been retired from the political desk.
