Staying at Riverside with Bounceback Free Dining this Sept. We have stayed there before in Alligator Bayou section and loved it. We had 5 so we needed the extra bed. We walked through the resort and I thought the. mansions were so stately and beautiful. Right now we are booked with a preferred room, which I know are all in Alligator Bayou. I notice that the River view rooms are about the same price as a preferred rooms. If I change to a River view instead, would that guarantee a mansion? Looking at the map, there only seems to be only a handful of sections in Alligator Bayou that are River Front. Didn't want to switch to River view to get a mansion and end up in a remote section of Alligator Bayou. I know we could book a Royal Guest room to guarantee a mansion, but that would coat almost 200 more throughout our trip. Magnolia seems to the most convenient mansion to bus stops and not too far from Food Court. Do you think the walk to food court is around 5-10 min from Magnolia mansion? Thank you for your help!!!!

Stayed twice at Parterre Place ( before Royal rooms ) and once we had a river view in front of the fountain..Also stayed at Magnolia terrace ( bend ) and it was slightly closer to the food court...5 minutes no problem..

I stayed at Magnolia and it wasn't more than a 5 min. walk to the food court. There is a thread for how to send a fax to request a room there, I used that and requested Magnolia and got it. Of course, there is no guarantee. I wasn't picky about the view so that might have helped, I don't think it's worth paying for a view at any of the value or moderates since you have the outside hallways and aren't generally sitting around with your shades open and 80% of the time you are going to have a rail in your view. There are loads of really pretty spots on the mansion side to sit and enjoy the resort,, pretty little gazebos and benches. I think I may have had a garden view, if you walked out of my room straight ahead you saw the little courtyard between two buildings, if you looked to your left you saw the parking lot.

Besides the one trip where we stayed in Alligator Bayou, I have been staying in the royal rooms since they began - always in Oak Manor Building 90 which is right next to Magnolia. I do know Oak Manor was only a few minutes to walk to the main area, which was awesome and the reason why I always request that specific building. If you book river view, I am not sure you are guaranteed a mansion building, as there are river views in AB also. I had a friend who just stayed in the Magnolia building last week, and they really enjoyed it. They had no complaints. I guess if you do not want to book a Royal Room, then building 85 would be your best bet. It never hurts to request it.

Booking river view won't guarantee a mansion room. Only booking a royal room will guarantee it. If not in a royal room, you'd be in Magnolia Terrace or Acadian House. We've stayed in both and not much difference in terms of proximity to the bus stop or the bridge to the food court and pool. I'd book river view and request mansions, keep it general. Otherwise you may end up in Alligator Bayou.
