Choosing a weekend to go - Fall

So I'm trying to weigh the concessions we have to make going in low season (this will be our first trip so we dont plan to see it all) so any advice would be helpful.

From reading all the advice here (hydroguys thread is amazing!) I understand in low season some rides will be closed, fireworks and fantasmic only happen on the weekend etc. That being said we accept that but are trying to pick the 'best' weekend based on that. Best being, not Christmas crowded, and most options to see fireworks and rides being open.

My choices:

Weekend of Sept 19th & 20th- 1st week after HM opens

Weekend of Oct 5th & 6th Gay Days

Weekend of Oct 12th - Columbus Day

My work schedule limits any other week- so we will make the best of any weekend we go- and we plan to go a few days before or after) and use the weekend to see the fireworks and fantasmic and enjoy the view the weekdays will be to hit the rides et all.

So if anyone has any advice or opinion on any weeks I have posted I would greatly appreciate any input.

Definitely your first choice. There's nothing "extra" going on then, other than the beginning-of-halloweentime crowds. They are less likely to be as busy as either gay days or CHOC walk/Columbus Day weekend.

Ditto above. The other two weekends will be crazy due to the themed weekend, holiday & the Halloween party going on...AVOID! The park should be done up for fall by that time in sept too.

I agree with the PPs - so much so that that's the weekend we picked to arrive also

They will all be quite busy, but the weekend in September will be the lesser of the 3 evils.
BTW...Columbus Weekend has the CHOC Walk...v.e.r.y b.u.s.y.

Sooo....when do the mad crowds start for Gay Days? We're booked for the previous week, leaving the evening of the 3rd. Can we assume that the morning and early afternoon will be normal, building to a heavy evening? Or is the history that the Friday will be busy?
