So we are going to get the dining plan for our trip in July.
I am a vegan and my daughter is a vegetarian. My husband is a meat eater and my son will eat anything. Any suggestions? I didn't see much when I looked at the menus.

Check out www.wdwig.com. She posts menus and there is a specific section for vegetarians. I am a psuedo-vegetarian : chicken or fish once or twice per month, my daughter is a dedicated non-meat eater. We have visited the World dozens of time and never had problems finding food.
Enjoy,
Dawn

Thanks. I think my daughter may be okay. I worry though that there won't be any vegan choices (no meat or dairy). I am going to check out the link. Thanks again

Thanks- I read some helpful info. They suggest calling the chef at each place and speaking directly with them. I'm suprised they would take calls from just regular people, I sure hope they don't get annoyed.

I am mostly vegetarian-I only eat fish, but I have found that there is almost always a choice on every menu that contains no meat at all. A lot of restaurants have a vegetarian section on the menu. Also, for the TS restaurants, they will usually modify menu choices for you, ie-sub something for chicken on a salad, etc.

When you call for your dining reservations, just be sure that they note it on their computer. We went with a strict vegetarian and she fared very well... Even at LeCellier!!! Some restaruants will give you a pasta dish or a rice dish that is very simple but we found that the following restaruants were great:

BOMA, LeCellier, Liberty Tree Tavern, 50's PrimeTime, Tony's Restaruant and... sorry, can't remember where else we went on that trip that was good for vegs.

I have been a -strict- vegetarian for 8 yrs- i have been to disney several times since then- i have NEVER had a problem with a t/s meal.

i do do research and check menus before making my ADRs. i would say 99% of the time there is a veggie selection on the menu. vegan? not always. but if you ask-- your server can suggest something and they always seemed happy to do so! :sunny:

enjoy!

My wife is a vegetarian and we have never had a problem. Rainforest Cafe has some choices and Portobellos does as well. Any of the WDW restaurants will accomodate dietery needs. Just ask your server. The only place we had a problem was Fulton's Crab House so skip that one.

I'm a vegetarian and had no problems the last trip at all. As for vegan stuff, I'm guessing you'll have an easier time at sit-down restaurants than counter service. Things are less mass-produced so they have time to make adjustments. You should be fine if you read menus before you leave and call ahead. Anyone know if the veggie burgers served in the parks are vegan? different brands have different ingredients, but those might be an option for CS, as well as salads without the meat.

I'm vegetarian and DD is not. I've never had a problem at a TS place at WDW. I did call a restaurant for the first time ever earlier this week and found them to be very pleasant and helpful. The advice I've gotten from pretty much every restaurant is to just let them know that there is a vegetarian in our party when we check in at the podium. Most places already have an option on the menu, but the chefs have always been wonderful. Most people with food allergies report the same thing, so I wouldn't worry too much. You'll be fine. :)

I'm a vegetarian, and I've never had any problem dining at WDW. I've had to request substitutions a few times, but it has never been a problem. This is true both at TS and CS restaurants.

I've never called ahead to speak to the chef, but since it's more difficult to find vegan selections, I think it would be a good idea for you to call. Even though WDW does an excellent job of accommodating meal requests, it will probably give you peace of mind if you call ahead. :)

BOMA, BOMA, BOMA!!!!!

The chefs at Boma are more than happy to take you through the line and point out all the veg/vegan foods, and there are so many. Plus Boma is a favorite with meat-eaters, too. Everyone wins!

Thanks guys. Do I need a reservation for Boma?
Anyone have any ideas about the Japanese place in Epcot?

I'm a strict lacto-ovo vegetarian and my 20 month old DD is also a vegetarian. DD also has a severe egg allergy.

Being a vegetarian at WDW is very easy (vegan is a little tougher! :) ). One of my favorite things about our WDW trips is that I don't have to worry about explaining my vegetarianism in hope that I might be able to find a little something to eat. At TS restaurants, there is always at least one vegetarian entree. The chef's always went above and beyond to accomodate my DD's dietary needs, even though she is under 3 and was free in several restaurants we went to! Garden Grill prepared a special meal for her (egg free pasta, instead of the normal veggie ravioli, topped with a tomato base sauce and veggies). They also brought her out an Itzakadoozie for her dessert.

I second the Boma recommendation. I am not a buffet fan at all at home, but Boma is a must do restaurant at Disney for me. Your server will ask you if anyone in your party has any dietary concerns. They have always brought a chef out to walk me through the line. One chef told me that 70% of the food at Boma is vegetarian. The last time we were there in January, the chef I spoke with brought out a special soup for me (it was one I liked that wasn't out that night), extra food for my DD, and a special dessert for DD.

Other places we have been happy with...

TS: Crystal Palace, Kona Cafe, Le Cellier (crazy, but they have an excellent vegetarian entree), Coral Reef

CS: Tangerine Cafe, Columbia Harbour House (they have veggie chili and a good vegetarian, but not vegan, sandwich).
