Spending another day in a Disney "land" is always better than going home. You will be rested and sad about leaving the ship, so another day relaxing at AKL watching the animals from your room will be a great way to unwind.

Cost-wise,

the KSC side trip would be $260 transportation + $75 admission + $25 dinner = $360

if we go with DCL to the airport and take our chances with the earlier flight, it would be $70 + a couple days' enjoyment lost while I am too busy worrying to have fun, lol = $70

if we go with DCL to the airport and get a Hyatt room, it would be $70 + $100 + $25 for dinner = $195

if we go with DCL to the resort, it would be $70 + $150 + $25 for dinner, $15 for breakfast and $25 for lunch = $285

I will have to give it more consideration.

Ah, ha! I'm glad I suggested it, not glad that you are confused. :) You can call your Congressman's office and request tickets to the Space Center that day. My understanding is that they have a set number of allocated free tickets they can give out each month.

I've never done it, but it's a fairly popular topic over on Cruise Critic. Considering the cost to get in the place, it's worth the phone call. Plus it will add a bit "Space Wonder" on top of a trip full of "Disney Magic".

If we go straight to the airport, I'm going to have to put my luggage on the bus and then get it into the airport. If we go to AKL, I'll have to put my luggage on the bus, bell services will take it to my room and pick it up again the next morning, and I can check it through to PIT right at the resort. Seems about equal to me, as far as inconvenience goes. :confused3

Actually if you go straight to the airport you will lug your luggage around (Southwest right?). If you go to AKL I am pretty sure you would put your luggage outside your door the night before arriving at port and will see it later when you get to AKL!

As for your original question, is the price of the different flights varying? I have done both an early flight and a late flight with the day room. For us we go with whatever is least expensive, factoring in the cost of the flight in addition to what you already have calculated.

Another option if you go to AKL or on your pretrip is to check out Universal Studios or Lego Land or another day in a Disney park. It sounds like what you really want to do is go to AKL after the cruise, so perhaps that is your best choice.
