Chocolatey Dilemma

Ok I have tried every web search I can think of and come up with almost nothing. I have been racking my brain trying to come up with something special to do for DH on our upcoming trip. We will be closing in on our 7 year anniversary and he loves chocolate. I tried looking in the disneyflorist.com website and the closest I found was a "cake" made up of chocolate bars. Very cute, but I was hoping for something a little sinful that maybe we could share.

So my next idea was looking up what the Grand Floridian bakery could do for us. I have found very little information. I have heard there is a glass slipper cake, a chocolate castle and a bunch of other things but I haven't seen any pictures. Is there a website I can browse to see what I would like to order? Also can you order this to be delivered to your room or is it better to have it delivered at one of the restaurants? I figured the room would be better because then he could store it in the fridge until we have an appetite for it.

Does anyone have any other ideas? We will be spending the first few days at the Poly and the rest of our trip at POR. Other than slipping out to Goofy's Candy factory and filling up a box with those deliciously yummy things behind the glass, I am fresh out of ideas!

Since you are staying at the Poly, Kona has a great chocolate dessert and maybe you can have it delivered to the room. It is the Kilauea Torte. It is listed as warm liquid chocolate inside a brownie volcano. I love chocolate also and this is my favorite dessert. It is really rich and dark. It can be ordered with ice cream also. I know I have seen pictures on this site if you do a search.

We ordered slippers to have after lunch at the GF Cafe, and they were DELICIOUS and beautiful. The slippers are $14, and I think the cake is $25. You must order in advance of 48 hours or more, though i ordered mine weeks in advance. - talking about these desserts:

Apparently, you can also get the slipper filled with chocolate mousse, it's served @ CRT.

(also from the disney food pix thread) Called Boardwalk directly and asked to be connected to "In Room Dining" and they helped out.

The Mickey and strawberries price varies from resort to resort and you can get just the Mickey or just the strawberries by themselves.

Cost was about $50. for both (18% tax and a $3 service fee). I think the Mickey alone is about $25. It's listed at www.allears.com on some of the menus of some of the resorts.
Talking about this one: (but it looks like you want to go to allearsnet.com - the one mentioned above discusses tinnitus in the inner ear :) )

Scan through the first (maybe 10) pages of the food pix board (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=773269) for other peoples' comments.

Hope it helps!

Wow those strawberries look fantastic! How much are they and where do you get them from? Is the mickey chocolate or plastic?

This was the chocolate wave from the Beach / Yacht Club ($25):

And another picture of the miniature castle cake ($25):

And Cinderella's slipper ($14.50):

The cake and the slipper were pre-ordered about 10 days in advance and we had them delivered during afternoon tea at the Gardenview Lounge. Delicious!

FYI on anything you order from the GF Bakery - you either have to be staying at the hotel or dining in one of their restaurants; you can't order something and just come in and pick it up and leave, and they don't deliver to other resorts.

Hope you have a great trip! :goodvibes

The mickey is white chocolate. It sounds like most of the resorts have the strawberries - I would call the poly directly and ask to be connected to in - room dining for special requests. You need a couple weeks notice, so it can't hurt to call now and find out what's available.
