Anyone else get one of these for Christmas?

My sister gave me one. She kept saying for six weeks before Christmas that I was going to LOVE my present from her. (and I do)

I got to use it for the first time this week. I had 12 women over who I graduated from high school with. One of my friends supplied the stuff to dip in it. We had marshmallows, pears, apples, pineapple, pretzels, shortbread cookies, strawberries and bananas.

It was a surprise to everyone else - and it was a big HIT. We meet once a month (it's officially a garden club, but I didn't have a program). No one usually eats very much - but everyone kept going back for more from the chocolate fountain.

My sister came over (she's 12 years younger so never really ran around with my friends). Even my dad (85) joined in.

It was very easy to clean - okay my dad cleaned it for me, but I was in the kitchen with him doing other stuff, and it didn't take very long.

I think I'm going to take it with me to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. I'm on St. Charles on the parade route so my New Orleans friends have already informed me that I'm having the Mardi Gras party.

I have the best sister.

You DO have the best sister! I am dying for one of these things. For some reason, I am just fascinated by them. We had one at a work function and if I could have figured out a way to stick it under my coat and take it home, I would have. :rotfl:

I really hinted for one for Christmas but DH was sure they'd be a pain to clean and kind of talked me out of it. Now that I have information saying they are not difficult to clean (even if I can't have your dad come do it for me), I think I'm buying one for myself.

Congratulations--I am very envious of you.

My DD friend has one and they all love it.

Is the smell bad? I went to a graduation party that was held in a ballroom last year and the smell was VERY strong. I like chocolate but I did not like the smell.

I got one for my bridal shower and I haven't used it yet. I am gald yours was such a hit.

i always thought they'd be messy too! but i was more worried about the stuff splashing onto my carpet, into my grout, onto the walls. i remember them from a hotel i worked at-the tablecloth used never could be reused except for rags (chocolate stains ick!).

I didn't really notice any smell so I'm not sure about where that came from. Maybe someone burnt the chocolate while they were heating it up?

I put it on my dining room table. I had a regular table cloth on it but I purchased a white paper cloth (with a plastic backing) that I draped across the table. We had a few drips but really not that many. Of course these were older women so were pretty careful. It was really easy just to throw the paper away. None on my carpet or chairs.

I used 5 (two very large bags) pounds of milk chocolate chips and 1 1/2 cups of oil. I heated half of it with a double boiler and half in the microwave. The microwave was definitely easier.

My sister did a lot of research on this and bought the Rival. You can put all of the parts in the dishwasher, but my dad insisted on cleaning it by hand.

My sister even provided the chips with the gift. Again - isn't she just the best!

I got one for Christmas, but haven't used it yet. I asked for it last Christmas and really gave my mom a hard time about not getting me one then and now they are everywhere.(She has a no kitchen appliance rule when it comes to giving gifts, lol). I haven't used it yet, but we are moving and I just left it in the box as is and it's already packed. Hopefully, I'll get to use it soon. I'm very happy to hear a positive review of it!

I was going to buy one last summer, but, didn't because I heard they were a pain to clean. I still want one, but, I'm alittle leary about cleaning it. Even with our waffle maker, everytime I use it, it takes me so long to clean out those little nooks & crannies, that I hate taking it out.

I got one & so did my Dad so I took mine back-I just live around the corner from my parents. The one my got has a recipe for doing cheese in it. DH hates Chocolate. I think I am going to use it for a Bridal Shower I am giving.

There was one at the hospital Christmas luncheon. First time I ever saw one. I bet you and your friends had fun! :)

I bought one for DH a few months ago as a pre-wedding gift (he was jealous of the stuff I got at my shower!). We entertain a lot so I guess it's good to have. I don't like chocolate but DH and my friends love it. We actually had a big chocolate fountain at the wedding and our guests are still talking about it :)

Yup, yup, I have one! I have used it for my sister's bridal shower, a girlfriend party, and my birthday party. It is always a huge hit! Especially with a group of close girlfriends. Conversation and laughter just flows around that chocolate fountain. (Of course the bubbly helped too ;) )

The scent is heavenly all through the house. It was a great investment.

I have wanted one for a while now - now I hear your great reviews I really want one. I think I saw one at Bed Bath & Beyond for $40 or $50 .... They always have the 20% off coupon, so it doesn't come out to be that expensive at all!
