I can't wait for the next 39 days to fly by.![]()
Sorry, couldn't resist!
Glad to hear that you are feeling better, Jen!
You know I actually find that looking forward to my fellow DISers trips actually lessens the pain of mine being so far away.![]()
For example, if I have your trip reports to read, I'm one step closer to writing my own after our vacation!![]()
That's why we've never rented a house at the shore or a condo anywhere, or (heaven's forbid, CAMP!I totally agree -- when I go on vacation, I go on vacation to escape chores and spend time with my family -- cooking doesn't figure into the equation unless we are staying at a beach house, and I feel like it. At Disney, there is no way!
I cannot believe it. We have 101 days left!!!!!![]()

Have fun at the meet. Is it tonight?
I will celebrate double digits with you...!!!!!!!!!
What fun! You're going to be living it up next year!!!
No. It's tomorrow night - 6 pm. Outside some store. And Kat might hug everyone numerous times![]()
(No, I'm not a stalker. Just very observant!)
Glad you are feeling better! Hope we do see you tomorrow! Looks like we are getting wet but OH WELL!
I think we are at 54 days!My mind is sort of mush, with DD's show this week and a MASSIVE amount of school assignments due for her. Then I have some things at church that I am responsible for, then our annual ranch trip Memorial Day weekend, then finals, THEN DISNEY!

THat is too cool!!! What a sweet studentLast week was spring break for us. Some of my students stayed in the city and some went to some interesting places, including the South of France, St. Martin, St. Barts, Palm Beach, and Disney!!!!
One of my students went to Disney and brought a gift back for me. Isn't she sweet? Here it is:

On a recent shopping trip to Babies R Us, I picked up something for T and his new brother J:

I'm hoping T and J can wear them this summer at Disney. Let's see if J and his parents join us in August. He'll be old enough. He should be about a month by August 9th![]()
ohhhh... that sign does look spooky!!After a long day of traveling and an afternoon touring the Historic District, D and I decided to head to the hotel for a much needed nap. We had 8:30 dinner reservations at Christiana Campbell's Tavern.
D and I slept from about 4:30-6:30. We got up, changed for dinner, and headed to the front desk to find the best route to Christiana's for our Colonial Feast. The lovely lady at the desk told us to catch the bus at the Visitor's Center. According to Front Desk Lady, the Visitor's Center was "just up the road" We decided if it's just up the road, we could definitely walk it.
Our walk started out uneventful, until we had to cross the street. At this point, there were no sidewalks. This is not something I'm used to. In an effort to keep my shoes dry, I attempted to just walk in the street near the curb. This changed as I realized that the cars zipping by couldn't see me in my all black outfit. I needed reflectors badly.
D and I decided that we would have to risk our shoes and walk in the damp grass. The sun seemed to set at a rapid pace and we were now walking in the dark. This made me a little nervous. While I'm not afraid of the dark, I did not want to encounter deer, racoons, or skunks looking for an evening meal. Rabies shots and lyme disease were not on the agenda tonight.
I took a photo of a sign on the way. It looks like it's floating in the ghostly darkness:

We finally made it to the Visitor's Center, boarded a bus, and headed to Christiana's. Luckily, the Tavern was the second stop. We checked in at the podium and were seated immediately.
Dining rooms were scattered throughout Christiana's. We sat in a cozy room with only about 8 tables right in front of the fireplace. The dining room was intimate and peaceful. No electricityWe ate by candlelight and soon realized that candlelight was our best light

Our meal started with rolls and sweet potato muffins. D had mint juleps and I had apple cider. We both ordered that tavern special, which included fried chicken, apple & pecan relish, grilled veggies, corn pudding, and spoon bread. Spoon bread is a colonial cornbread, but not as sweet. All of the food was really really good and plentiful. It seemed that we had an entire fried chicken on our plate (4 large pieces to be exact). The corn pudding and spoon bread were my favs. D liked the sweet potato muffins and corn pudding. We were so full we skipped dessert, which was included with our meal. But if I attempted to put even one spoon of ice cream in my mouth, D would have had to roll me back to the room.
Unfortunately, I have no food porn. D may have some. I have to ask her. I did take two pics while at Christiana's:

Awesome update.
Your colonial experience is making me nostalgic for when we take DS to Santa's Land in VT. There's a place nearby...name escapes currently...where we eat after, and it's got some older style fare, including a lovely turkey dinner...yum, yum. I dream of good food while I'm sick.![]()
