I just looked up the keynote speakers: Christopher Paul Curtis, Walter Dean Myers, Alice Walker, Gail Carson Levine!!! They are all authors we read in my classroom!!! Not to mention Richard Allington is someone I would love to hear speak about his work!!!

I am even willing to strike a deal with my admin. now so that I can go!

I love fresh pineapple. I ate a lot of pineapple daisies from the edible arrangement a family friend sent. I'm hoping the Dole Whip is as yummy as I'm hearing.

I wonder if this pineapple soft serve is sold anywhere else in the country. I mean can you get it without encountering a mouse???

Those speakers look great, I wish I was still a classroom teacher, so I could have a slight chance of going...Being an instructional technology specialist, there's no way in hades I'd get to go to a reading conference. I am not even going to the really awesome NECC (national educational computing conference) in San Antonio. It was in Atlanta last year, and boy did I love that city! I had a blast! So beautiful...you're very lucky! I'd move there in a heartbeat!

I read somewhere that you can get it in Hawaii at the Dole plantation. Sounds like a reason to visit Hawaii to me!

I go the the NAGC (National Association for Gifted Children) convention every year. It's been in Charlotte and Minneapolis. It'll be in Tampa in October, very close to a certain mouse. Since I teach at a school for gifted children, that's where my admin likes to spend money

Since I didn't spend any money yesterday, I decided to revisit Target and stop by Duane Reade. Well, I got some stuff I needed for home. You know, the usual, a new toothbrush, lotion, q-tips, a toy for T, more Tylenol PM. I just happened to pass by the travel size toiletry aisle (yes, I passed by the aisle in both stores) and picked up a few things.

For some reason, I get more excited buying mini versions of things like shampoo, toothpaste, and mouthwash, than I do purchasing the regular sizes. It's a traveling disease. Plus, I have convinced myself that since I'm going to Maryland (and possibly Virginia and Louisiana) in April, possibly Georgia and definitely back to Maryland (for one of Natasha's baby showers) in May, and Disney and Las Vegas in August, I need lots of travel size items. And then there's that free hotel room at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City that I have to use....

Well, I needed to start to stock up and FAST!!!! Who knows, maybe everyone in NYC would decide they needed lots of travel size toiletries and all of the stores would sell out. Then what would happen?

Jennifer - I think you have the right idea. What if there is a run on small-sized toiletry items in the near future? I think you're covered now. And here's to that Target theory - go for one item and spend $100 really quick.
