*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

Kids today may have Dancing with the Stars and American Idol but we had Dance Fever and Puttin on the Hits!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

It was the uniforms that were the allure! That and my Master Chief (in the Navy) Daddy saying, "You aren't allowed to date men in the military." Poor man.

:lmao:

I was gonna say the same thing!

The last dance will have to be Stairway to Heaven!

Remember Solid Gold?? Loved that show!

Solid Gold! I forgot about that show.

Great minds!

All 20 minutes of it!!! :lmao:

I wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer!!!

Maybe Solid Gold will make a comeback.

Kids today may have Dancing with the Stars and American Idol but we had Dance Fever and Puttin on the Hits!

Who was the host of Dance Fever?

I remember Puttin on the Hits :lmao:

And Star Search! Don't forget Star Search!

I loved Star Search!!!

The only show that seems to have lasted is Soul Train :rotfl2:

Y'all are killing me!! I went away to a dance lesson for a couple of hours and you started gettin' all nostalgic and stuff. I have so much I want to add.

First, Jen, I suggest you go as one of Charlie's Angels to the 70s party. Here was what I did at New Year's Eve three years ago when we had a 70s theme:
CharliesAngelss.jpg

NKOTB - I remember. I saw them opening for Tiffany ca. 1987, then the next year Tiffany opened for them! I guess she went downhill fast. Do you remember that she got her start in a mall? And I think we all know that "I think we're alone now" hand movement. Or was that "I Saw Him Standing There"? Did she do all covers?

And I was going to say the same thing - I liked Jordan's solo "Give it to You". In fact, I was listening to that at work the other day.

Prom - I wore hoops!! Do you remember those? That was fun to get into and out of the Mustang GT with... Oh my. Oh yeah, now I remember. I wore the hoops so I could wear a garter above my knee to hold the bottle of Seagrams inside my panty hose. Yes, really.

I think I'm about 10 years older than the rest of y'all. I graduated in '85. Hey, I got to go to 3 proms my Senior year. (I dated around - don't tell anyone) :rotfl:

I read Teen Beat and Tiger Beat and Tiger Beat Star. In my years, it was all about Peter Frampton and Leif Garrett.

Kat - inquiring minds want to know. What did you do with NKOTB?? Did you have a backstage pass??

NKOTB said in People Magazine last week that they are going to "give their fans some new stuff". For what it's worth...

Oh yeah, and our local radio station is having "Second Chance Prom" tomorrow night. It's for people who didn't get to go, or who didn't get to go with their current mates. And there's alcohol served - so that makes it different. Do they do that in other towns?

Charleston Princess (whose real name I have never learned :confused3 ), this is ironic. I had a thing for the marines in H.S. too. Many a night my girlfriends and I could be found on base. We didn't have beaches in Memphis ;)

Denny Terreo was the host of Dance Fever.

Ok. There. Caught up. :)

Anyone else remember NKOTB? Remember when they were "hot" and Hangin' Tough was playing on the radio? C'mon I know some of you read Bop magazine and hung up pictures of Jordan, Donnie, Jon, Joey, and Danny.

I absolutely remember NKOTB!

They were my first concert!

Jon was my fave!

I totally forgot about Charlie's Angels. That's a great idea.
I have also considered going as Mush Mouth from Fat Albert and the Junkyard Gang, but I think I'd offend someone.

That's right! Tiffany started performing in a mall and rocketed to stardom. Uhmm where is she now? :lmao:

3 proms :scared1: You were very busy. Did Seagrams accompany you to each prom?

Teen Beat and Tiger Beat! Yes! I remember those. I think they still sell those. But I would imagine Miley Cyrus is gracing the cover.

What new stuff could NKOTB have? "We're Still Hangin' Tough" "Please Don't Divorce Me Woman" "Step by Step I'm Heading to Retirement"?

A second chance prom sounds like fun. I'd like a do-over. I had a great prom, but I want to go to another one and not have to be a chaperone :lmao:

Denny Terreo!!! OMG I remember him!!! What happened to him?

By the way, I'm listening to Hall & Oates. Does anyone remember them? I think when I move, I need to have a 70s/80s party.

I had a thing for Leif Garrett too...he went on to become a herion addict. My other crush was C.Thomas Howell....he's the one guy in the Outsiders that didn't make it big...well unless you count Ralph Machio (sp?) he at least had the Karate Kid movies. You see C.Thomas (maybe he just goes by Tom now) was doing movies just like the others until he did Soul Man...need I say more? He is now going to be on that D-lister magic reality show.

Your first concert was much more normal than mine. My first concert was Culture Club because my mom LOVED them :scared1:
I do like their music, but at 7 years old it wasn't what I wanted to see.

that makes him even hotter

I wonder if Brad will be a humanitarian and paint my apartment shirtless.

I'm not that familiar with Leif Garrett or C. Thomas Howell. But I remember Ralph waxing on and off.

Yeah see I know how to pick 'em....the forgotten crushes of 1985! It could be a VH-1 special....remember when VH-1 was for old people? Yup watch it daily now....

My first concert was White Snake...White Lion was the opener. how sad is that? At least I got to see some good shows in college...I miss $20 college concert tickets...back when you wouldn't get killed in a mosh pit.

Tiffany was on Celebrity Fit Club a couple of seasons ago - or was it Surreal Life? I don't know. She looked the same, but older and heavier. She seemed a little cracked out. Hope that doesn't offend anyone. Wait, no, that was Tawny Kittaen that was on Surreal Life all cracked out. (remember her?) Sorry, Tiffany.

Seagrams - only one prom. It was the only prom where I wore the dress with hoops. The other proms, the boys were responsible for smuggling the liquor.

The new NKOTB song titles are awesome! :lmao:

(I always have a story, don't I?) Hall and Oates' producer lived in our town. We all had buttons that said "No Can Do" - you remember that line from "I Can't Go For That"?

I saw Leif on some VH1 show about 10 years ago. Yeah, he's a goner. And I liked C.Thomas Howell - LOVED The Outsiders. Wasn't Tom Cruise in that one but nobody knew him yet? And Matt Dillon?

I absolutely remember NKOTB!

They were my first concert!

My first concert was Rick Springfield. Then I had 17th row Prince and the Revolution tix - 1999 tour. It was awesome!!

I remember when VH1 was for the senior set. Now I love it. I can't live without my Celebreality. Does VH1 even show music videos anymore?

OMG I remember White Snake and White Lion. David Coverdale must be 110 years old now.

David Archuletta reminds me of Ralph Macchio. I wish he'd break out the "crane stance" in the middle of one of his American Idol songs one of these days. :rotfl:
