*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

That is the best scent ever! I'm going to look for that scent next month. Since I can't cook, I like my house to smell as if I can :lmao:
If I find it, I'll let you know :)

If it helps at all, it was a white jar candle.:goodvibes

And this is a bit unrelated, but I really want to go to Basin. I love soaps and lotions. I don't know how I missed it in January. I'm thinking I could get some early Christmas shopping done.

I do, too! I've been to the smaller version in the GF on my last trip, and fear for my wallet if I go to the one at Downtown! :lmao:

Have you tried Le Cellier or Coral Reef? Those are on my list too. So is Bluezoo.

I know you didn't pose this question to me specifically, but I LOVE the Coral Reef. Truthfully, it was my favorite meal on my trip last year. Of course, I love my Chef Mickey's breakfast, don't get me wrong, but as far as some wonderful cuisine, I think you really can't go wrong here.

Since it was September, they had an awesome pumpkin risotto. I wasn't sure how I would feel about it, but I'm an October baby and lover of all things pumpkin, so I gave it a whirl, and it was amazing. That with the land and sea app, which was a shrimp/beef skewered combo with polenta, and a key lime torte for dessert.

:::sigh:::

Heaven.:cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

After a nice dinner with friends at Outback, I've decided that I have to stop at Target today. Maybe it's the pina colada that's clouding my judgement.

Up later: Did I buy more trip stuff? Or did I abstain?

Ooooo...more cliffhangers.

I get the feeling you like to leave us hanging.;)

It is a lot of eating :lmao:
I actually do not eat that much either, but we are doing deluxe dining again. My mom and I liked having three meals prepaid. We made the ADRs because we know it's going to be busy and will probably not be able to walk into any of the table service restaurants. Plus, I really hate searching for a table with a 4 year old. Not fun at all.

I'm so excited about Chefs de France. Initially, I was nervous about booking this with a 4 year old, but they have a children's menu. So they obviously welcome kids. The menu looks so yummy. I can't wait. Plus, I've read more positive reviews on Chefs than Teppan Edo.

I love Kona for breakfast. Their dinner menu is just like the Poly's room service menu. We may have dinner there one night and cancel something. We'll see.

And we could not pass up Liberty Tree Tavern, especially now that it will no longer be a character meal. I definitely want to take a pic with Colonial Mickey.

Have you tried Le Cellier or Coral Reef? Those are on my list too. So is Bluezoo.

Have not tried Le Cellier. Too many "sauces" on everything. I'm a "hold the gravy" type of girl, unless I'm the one who made the gravy. :goodvibes

We went to Coral Reef BEFORE DD... over 15 years ago! Did not enjoy it. Been to many seafood restaurants in my day and it just didn't measure up, in my opinion. Of course, that was a LONG TIME ago. :rotfl:

We thought about having drinks and appetizers at bluezoo, since we stay at the Dolphin, but didn't get a chance to do it this trip. Maybe next June...
Although some say they prefer Flying Fish on the Boardwalk...

Liberty Tree Tavern was good "home cooking". Found out afterwards that you can request "more" if you would like. (I mention this because I was a little surprised at the serving size of the "family style platter".. it seemed rather small to me - but I'm Italian, and we cook for hundreds. It ended up that we had enough for the three of us, but a friend said that her husband always asks for more meat. lol)

ok.... almost got it goin for ya Jenn :) but need you to tell us a little bit more ;) hehe

Park touring plans

I have not even thought about what park on what day. I know I know, I'm a bad DISer!!!

If it helps at all, it was a white jar candle.:goodvibes

I'm going to look for that candle!

I fear that Basin may be my fav WDW shop :rotfl2:

Coral Reef may happen next trip. The menu looks great, but I need to go with a seafood lover. My mom is not into seafood at all :sad2:

I love pumpkin  Pumpkin pie is one of the few things I can actually bake.

I'm going to update on Target right now :lmao:

We may stay at the Boardwalk Villas next summer, so I'll just have to try bluezoo and Flying Fish.

Liberty Tree Tavern sounds safe, which is good. How can you really mess up turkey???

naughty naughty!!!

well going by your adr's I marked certain parks... but left other spots "open" I'll add u to my IM when I get home and send u the "draft"

I just got back from Target and got a few more trip goodies. I bought a pair of black shorts (like the chocolate and tan ones I got yesterday), two pairs of capris, and pjs. T also got a new pair of Cars swim trunks. I'm not found of excessive character clothing on a 4 year old, especially if it looks too much like toddler wear. But these swim trunks were quite cute.

My mom also got a pair of capris and pjs for the trip. She bought my dad a shirt.

I just got an email from eBags. They shipped my new trip bag today :yay: :yay: :yay: Thanks Kat for the suggestion. I love eBags. There's just so much to choose from. Am I going to tell you what bag I decided on? Nope! I'll wait to post pics. And I know TarzansKat just loves cliffhangers :lmao:

One hint: I did not get a Vera Bradley bag. Well, I didn't get it yet. I ordered this bag yesterday before seeing pics of SingingMom's hipster. Now, I may just have to order another bag :rolleyes1

I also placed an order last week at Disney Store online. My mom and I ordered things for everyone, including baby Jackson. I'm so sad he's not going to Disney. But then again, he would have spent the entire trip sleeping in a stroller and nursing. I doubt Mickey would have excited him much. Oh well, there's next year!

Last night, I posted that I was looking for something special for T. Well, I found Memories by Betsy online and called Betsy today. She's putting together a pirate themed gift basket for T, including personalized mouse ears!!! She'll deliver it to the CR and it'll be waiting for us in our room :yay:

I also called CR private dining to inquire about ordering a chocolate monorail and/or chocolate characters. Apparently, I can order a chocolate monorail, Mickey, Minnie, or Tink. I can also order strawberries and chocolate. That would go great with a bottle of Champagne, but T is partial to chocolate milk and apple juice. The nice CM told me to call a week in advance to place the order. So I have some decisions to make. The rational, logical part of me says order the chocolate monorail. The irrational, over the top part of me says order the monorail and Mickey.

Today is my parents' 35th anniversary. I honestly cannot phathom being with anyone THAT long. It's amazing. Well, I want to do something special for their anniversary at Disney. I doubt a gift basket filled with autograph books and mouse ears will thrill them. And I won't send flowers to the room because my mom won't be able to take them home. And my dad really isn't into flowers. So, I'm thinking about ordering a cake at one of the restaurants one night.

Here are my cake options:

1. Order the Mad Hatter's cake at 1900 Park Fare. The Mad Hatter's cake is an expensive way to ruin a diet.

2. Order a regular cake like a normal person and have it sent to the room at the Poly.

3. My mom isn't into dinner at Cali Grill, so that may be changed to CRT (if there's availability-about to call now). Yup, my mom would rather eat at CRT twice then California Grill. She's a picky eater. If we have dinner at CRT, I'll see about ordering some sort of special dessert.

Calling Disney Dining now...

Doh! :headache: Curses.:lmao:

That sounds awesome. Racking up the points for coolest aunt ever, eh?

Again, contributing to the way cool aunt award. Can I be your niece?:lmao:

Okay, normally I'm very budget oriented but since this is your money...:lmao:

I think that Mad Hatter cake sounds awesome!!!

Can't wait to see the pics of the new bag!

It's a good thing I can't go shopping with you because I have a feeling you would be a VERY bad influence!

The Mad Hatter cake sounds great!

I say ditch the cake and send them over to Narcossee's for a nice romantic anniversary dinner by themsleves. on you of course.

I spoil my nephew just a tad. I guess that's what happens when you're the first one :) His grandparents (both sets) spoil him also. He's the first grandchild.

I have to find a pic of the Mad Hatter cake on the cake thread.

Can't wait to see the pics of the new bag!

As soon as the bag arrives, I'll take pics. I may even take a pic of it being delivered by UPS. I wonder if the delivery person would mind :confused3

I wonder how the cake tastes.

That's a great idea. I have to check the menu. My mom is ultra picky.

WOW....amazed how fast this thread is going since your return :goodvibes Well drove by you yesterday on my way to RF for more shopping ;) Are you in NorthShore Towers on Waters Edge, I think, huh? BTW, I shop at BayTerrace, too and just gotta love that BandN over there, especially Starbucks in there!!! However, think you beat me with all of those new boxes of shoes :lmao: DSW is GREAT! I walk out with box loads, too!!! How can you not with their prices! Do you go to the one on OldCountryRd? Also, I LOVE Target!!! especially the one in Westbury, CollegePt. is way small compared to the other. Jenn, what brand shorts did you pick up in Target....( I need some new ones for the trip too) I never looked into that there :confused3 dont know why? Question overload...huh> I just love your pre-trippie, so much fun happen' here! Anyway, keep us posted!

No work or stress for me = lots of time to post :lmao:

I live right near the Towers, but am in a house.

I love Bay Terrace!!! I had dinner there tonight at Outback. YUM! And the B & N there is fantastic! It's a little dangerous for me to live that close to a bookstore. But at the rate I shop, it's dangerous for me to live anywhere near an establishment that has a cash register.

I did drive to the DSW on Old Country Road. I contemplated going into RF, but couldn't bring myself to do it. I didn't feel like hunting for a parking spot or buying more shoes at Nordstrom.

I go to the Target in College Point, but need to check out the Westbury one. I had no idea it was BIGGER!!! OMG that's def on the agenda for this weekend.

I got the Mossimo shorts at Target. I have never bought shorts there, but they are really comfy and the perfect length. I don't need tiny shorts showing off my watchamacallits, scaring young children and the elderly. :scared1: Seriously, how do people wear shorts that are glorified underoos? I think those are very unDisney!

Oh, it's comments like this that I have missed!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I am voting for the chocolate monorail for T -- tooo cute!!!

I am also casting my vote for the Mad Hatter cake because I saw it on MadiMouse's TR and have loved it ever since!

I vomit in my mouth everytime I see someone wearing undies and trying to pass them off as shorts. :scared: I stopped by my aunt's house yesterday and saw a woman in said underoos trying to load packages into her car. It was not pretty :sad2:

I think he'll love the monorail. Wonder if he'll let anyone eat it :confused3
I need to find out if the monorail is milk, dark, or white chocolate. Not that it really makes a difference :rotfl2:

That cake is pure decadence. But that's how we roll :thumbsup2

How we roll? What's gotten into me? I only had one pina colada and that was at dinner hours ago. Apparently this post has been hijacked by gangsta Jen.

Ugghhhh! You should come to Walmart in my area on the weekend -- it's scary stuff, let me tell you!

From the pictures I have seen I would guess that it is milk chocolate.

That's how we roll too! I made a chocolate chip coffee cake today and the recipe called for a half bag of Ghiradelli chocolate chips -- I just poured the whole bag right on in -- it tastes good, too! :thumbsup2

Gangsta Jen!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I wonder if they make Gangsta Mickey ears or does that go against the whole gangsta image, I wonder?

Why do some people want everyone to see their whatnots? I don't get it.

Milk chocolate is my fav!! But I get the feeling T isn't letting anyone near that monorail.

Chocolate chip coffee cake sounds so yummy! And the entire bag of Ghiradelli chips is the only way to go!!! Is it easy to make? While I'm a terrible cook, I am not such a bad baker.

I think if you took the Pirate Mickey ears, removed the bandana, replaced it with a backwards baseball cap, removed the hoop earring, and replaced it with bling you'd have one fierce gangsta mouse on your hands. I wonder if Disney would ever consider it. If gangsta is too real and harsh, they could use a different term. Perhaps Thug Mickey? He could possibly replace Pal Mickey.

The need for constant affirmation? Exhibitionist? Who knows? :confused3

My kids don't like to share!

It was very easy -- I found the recipe on the Ghiradelli website and just followed it -- didn't take long at all.

Kids in general don't like to share.

I need to check that website. There may be baking in my near future.

Thug Mickey will help you find a parade viewing spot just as it's about to start. The spot would include squeezing in front of people who waited an hour and half sitting on them. Thug Mickey will also inform you to use flash photography even when the CM says not to. Why make an ADR? Follow Thug Mickey's advice and go diva on the CM, frightening him/her into seating you anyway.

Thug Mickey - that totally cracks me up! :lmao:

Now, who started the gangsta posts first tonight? Was it you, Jen? I didn't even read yours when I posted Katie's. I was just looking through those pics and saw her being all gangsta. I had better gangsta poses, but I didn't post them because you couldn't see as much of the Minnie-wear.

Sorry if you thought I was copy-catting you!
