Well I think if it is the ruin of this country well I hope you choose not to take advantage of any of the rights that woman have fought so hard to get like: the right: to bodily integrity and autonomy; to vote (suffrage); to hold public office; to work; to fair wages or equal pay; to own property; to education; to serve in the military or be conscripted; to enter into legal contracts; and to have marital, parental and religious rights.[2] Women and their supporters have campaigned and in some places continue to campaign for the same rights as men and deserve the same rights but you cant pick and choose what rights you and ammenties you expect. I am pretty sure I can say that most intelligent people wouldnt call equality the ruin of this country. And if you feel this country is in ruins......^ Canada

They let us vote here too so, that wouldn't work.

I think its insensitive to say that just because someone is male and 18-35 they dont deserve to have a seat. Im 27 and I have 3 slipped discs in my spine and take painkillers and anti-inflammatory pills otherwise I cant get up. Should I give up my seat to a perfectly healthy woman?

I'm a healthy, late 20's woman, and I'd give up my seat for you. You need it more than I do! Just ask! :)

Now if I'm holding a sleeping little girl, well, we'll just have to squish into one seat!

This post is not directed to the elderly, people who need assistance/cannot stand or small children and people with small children.

Having said that...

How can some people I've stood behind in line for attractions (including a couple on Splash Mountain near park closing) suddenly lose their ability to stand on a bus?

Um...I just stood in line behind you for 30 minutes to ride Splash Mountain...but now you're on the same bus as me going back to Pop Century...we are all standing...but you are complaining loudly that you can't sit down for 10 minutes.

Just pretend the bus is takin you to your "laughin' place" and you'll be fine.

Well put!

It kills me when everyone calls Disney transportation, “public” transportation. Disney transportation is not open to the public, it is available to the guest of WDW. Disney transportation only travels on Disney property it does not go to Wal-mart.

In the context of this discussion, what difference does it make? Do you have different rules for public transport that goes to Walmart versus transport that doesn't go to Walmart? If so, can you explain what it is and why? Just curious.

Someone asked me if my 6 month old enjoyed it, but I can't find it now.

Yes he did actually, thanks for asking! :)

This thread is actually making me afraid of going in January.

If someone tried to loudly shame me into giving up my seat I doubt I'd be able to leave my room. This is both the first year I've dealt with being truly disabled from the MS, and as an adult with Asperger's, attention is something I don't want drawn to myself under any circumstances.

I imagine the men doing the shaming mean well, but it's really nothing more than bullying. Is it not better to lift people up than to put them down?
Don't be worried. When your ON the bus you wont even notice this. It's when your on the DIS and the 100+ people on here are getting into these major battles about silly things.

This thread is basically saying that it's a shame that women now have the chance to vote, eat with men, have much of the same employment opportunities, and countless other equalities and in return less men give up their seat because the new generation which is everyone under 25, is brought up being taught that all people are equal. Does it make sense in the real world? no. Does it make sense on the DIS? yes, and it quite enjoyable to watch.

Don't worry, you won't even notice when your there. :thumbsup2

IMO, those who fought for & got us women "equality" helped with the ruin of this great country. A lot of things would be much better if more moms were home teaching their children how to behave rather than trying to "have it all.".

Wow. Well maybe a country like Iraq is more suited to you and your beliefs.

I totally respect others with their own opinion but I totally disrepect some on here who make it a point to be all out mean. Gosh can't we all get along and still have our own personal views? :sad2:

I do have children and since you got some yourself, you should know their needs are different from yours or mine.
You do not need to be mind reader to know your child needs break from park and you do not need to read the future to know that if you run all day with a kid, she/he will collapse by the end. Don't you see logic:confused3 My point is listen to your kids needs not yours.

Kids fall asleep at random times when they are young they are not always predictable. I'm not talking about my kid falling asleep when I'm running around the parks at 10-11 at night I'm talking about them falling asleep at 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock without any prior notice that they were tired. So no I can't just predict when one of my youngest 3 will feel a need for a nap. So yes I see logic and it's not logical to expect to predict every time when your kids are going to fall asleep and get back to your hotel before it happens. Well unless your a mind reader.

Agree, get a car or at least wait for another bus. BTW driver was totally off line or first day at work.

This is the most insane, though predictable, response to the issue. It's suggested every time this topic is broached.

Waiting for 20-30 minutes for another bus, while standing, instead of getting on the bus with no seats is a ridiculous solution.

And for those that say they do it, I call bull poop.

Men and boys that don't offer their seats to woman and the infirm are rude.

On public transportation you could be sitting next to “Joe the crack head”. When I get on Disney transportation I expect to see a certain class of people or to be with a certain class of people.

My son goes to privet school, how I tell people that ask what is the difference in public and privet schools in my area;

“One and one will always be two, what I am paying for is the atmosphere that my child is learning in.”

It is the same on Disney transportation and public transportation, I do not expect to find a gun, syringes or drug paraphernalia on a Disney bus, but it would not surprise me to find one or more of those items on “public” transportation.

Thank you for putting it into some perspective. We've already had to reschedule the trip, and planning it is stressful enough. I can only imagine the wrath I would face from my wife if I cancelled because of the perceived threat of bus seat trauma!

Not on the DIS ;)
That statement is so true. Too many people tend to let all their issiuse out on the members here, and it's too bad. They turn threads like these into battlefields. We need one ginormous thread where people can let it out so the crazy dosn't come into threads, and people could easily avoid the thread if they dosnt want to get involved.

How is it insane?
I would wait for another bus. I don't feel safe standing on a bus period. I'd rather wait for a seat. The only time I would use the bus was for Pleasure Island when I am having cocktails. Thankfully the bus has never been too crowded going back to the resort. (I miss PI) I do get a rental car to avoid standing on the bus. While you all are waiting in line and being packed in like sardines, I am already back at the resort changing into my bathing suit to soak my sore back in the hot tub. :thumbsup2

You guys are right. Us men should also give up our spots to women while in line for rides. Also if we are seated at the quick service tables, we should get up if a woman is looking for a seat as well. We can just eat standing up because we're men. :sad2:

BTW, what's the next thread that's going to pop up? Black people should move to the back of the bus so a white person can sit up front? :rolleyes1

I could not let this one pass.

Disney does not have to double its fleet just have the busses change their marquee from "Ole Key West" to where ever the busses are need.

I have seen and counted, five busses, less than half empty busses marked “Ole Key West” passes by as we stood in line for 45 minutes for a bus marked “All Star …” Ole Key West is a DVC resort.

To me a lot of this “giving up seats on crowded busses” business can go away if Disney had better bus fleet management.
We no longer will stay at a Value resort because in my opinion the busses run better at DVC, Deluxe and Moderate resorts and the busses are less crowded.

You can't be serious?? Disney is probably one of the single largest transportation operations around. I think they have a clue. And I'm sure they're constantly working on making it more efficient.

What is your background that makes you so confident they have poor transportation management?

Gee, I've been on public transportation and have actually seen something besides drug addicts and low class people. I didn't realize that those on Disney buses were just the elite either.

This thread is bizarre. I don't want someone to give me their seat whoever they are. I am just as capable of standing as a male and I think it's crazy for them to jump up just because I'm female. It would be different if I had a small child with me or if I was physically compromised in some way.

I also think it's ludicrous to blame women's rights for the downfall of the country somehow. If men not giving up their seats is somehow indicative of the country being in a bad condition in some way, I've obviously missed it. My son also won't be getting up for anyone unless they have a definite need to sit unless he chooses to on his own. I never taught him to do so. I did however teach him to be polite and at the same time respectful of all people, male or female.

So what does Canada have to do with this? Do Canadians throw people out of their seats or something? ;)

Isn't that what the Community Board is for?:rotfl:
