Hey everyone,
For a bunch of reasons, I am going to be going to a chiropracter for the first time. Just interested in hearing your experiences, what kind of things they do--anything and everything...Thanks!

I herniated 2 discs in my lower back about 8 years ago and couldnt walk because the pain was so bad. Went to an orthopedic surgeon first and of course he wanted to do a surgery right away. then talked to a few friends and went to a chiropractor. Thank goodness i did! With adjustments and using all of his machines and tables he had available, but back went right back into alignment. I am actually going friday as i fell and hurt my neck. Would always go to a chirorpactor and my kids go too, best thing we could ever do for ourselves.

I've been seeing a chiropractor for 30 of my 44 years. One my feet all day cutting hair (do you do that too?) so it has always been helpful.

I am a believer that if you can find a good chiropractor, you have found a treasure!

Isn't that the truth:thumbsup2!!!

I occasionally get pinched nerves in my neck. My chiropractor ALWAYS works them out for me.

The last one was so bad that I had pain running down my neck, across my shoulder blade, and down my right arm into my fingers. I went to the chiropractor and after a few weeks work, it was slowly disapprearing. I did go to the doctor(just because the progress was going soooo slow) just to make sure it wasn't something more serious, and it wasn't. Doc prescribed me steroids and told me to continue with the chiropractor. The steroids combined with the chiropractor was the right combination. I did have tingling down my arm and into my fingers for probably a month or a little more after the pain was gone, but then it disappeared too!!!!

My DH goes once a month for a routine adjustment. If he doesn't, he gets neck pain to the point of nausea and vomitting.

I love my chiropractor!!!!

Many years ago I had bursitis in my hip. The pain was so terrible I was on crutches for months. I was going to the "best" orthopedic surgeon in the area - who even took care of the local football players. He wanted to do surgery and REMOVE the burser. :scared1:

My roommate at the time was a tennis pro and went to her chiropractor regularly. She recommended I see him. I did. Best thing I EVER did. Within a couple of weeks, I was walking just fine, no pain, no limp, no crutches!! NO MEDICATIONS OR SURGERY! I just needed to be straightened out. When I originally told him what the doc wanted to do, he just shook his head.

My only suggestion is to make sure you have a good chiropractor. Get recommendations from friends or someone. There are a few out there who are not as knowledgeable as others.

I have mixed feelings about my chiropractor. I had some neck adjustments for migraine headaches, and I haven't had a migraine in about 25 years. I give my chiropractor full credit for that.

But, a few years ago I had a herniated disk and I went to the chiropractor 3x a week for 6 weeks and it did not get better, in fact I felt it got worse so I stopped going. A couple weeks later it started to heal on its own.

I've gone a few times for back pain. I LOVE the way he pulls my arms and legs, twists my neck, and basically stretches me. Then he follows up with a deep tissue massage. Sometimes the pain goes away immediately, sometimes not, but I always walk out of his office feeling better than I did when I walked in. Since my insurance covers it, I'm thinking of going in for twice yearly adjustments even if I feel ok. He puts everything back into place!

As a kid I went to a chiro for a herniated disc in my back. He didn't help and I didn't liek the way the "crackings" felt. I always left the office feeling just awful. THAt said, he oculd've just been a lousy chiro. I have been having some hip/back pain and am considering finging a chiro to try my luck again.

I know a lot of people who have really benefited from seeing a chiropractor. My experience was different because I went for my knee and he wasn't able to help me- I actually usually left there in more pain than I came in with. But it was a problem that needed to be fixed by surgery. If I were to have any back problems in the future I would go to him.

My last chiropractor just did adjustments where I said i was having issues. Not bad--but not great.

My current chiropractor is intuitive--always checking for issues. She finds them without me telling her and I think that is soooo cool.

I get manual adjustements and sometimes with some tool. She'll throw in some deep tissue occasionally depending on what I need.

Love her. I take all my kiddos. They love to get adjusted.
