I would love to take my grand son to the Campfire. I plan to go over after our day at the MK. I know to take the boat over to Fort Wilderness. But how do I get to the Campfire area from there? Bus l would guess but how do I know which bus to get on or can we walk over from the dock?

Do people driving park at the Day Visitors area? It seems like it would be about a 3/4 mile walk to the campfire. Is it really that far?!

I think for me the walk would be okay but my grandson is 3 years old I think that will be a bit much for him. Are the internal buses marked?

the buses come every 20 mins or so...sometimes more often but not if I'm waiting :)...
there are 3 bus "lines" internally...purple, yellow and orange. I've only used the yellow and orange
but I think they all will stop at the campfire's area. Just let the driver know where you want to go and
they'll alert you when it's the campfire area's stop.

FORT WILDERNESS CAMPFIRE "411": (open to all)
1) Location:
. . . within the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds
. . . near Meadows Trading Post, behind swimming pool area
2) Transportation to Fort Wilderness
. . . car to Fort Wilderness parking lot
. . . bus to Fort Wilderness from almost anywhere inside WDW
. . . boat to FW from Magic Kingdom or Wilderness Lodge Resort
. . . monorail to Contemporary Resort, then boat to FW
. . . most resorts have a separate bus to Fort Wilderness after 5:00pm
4) Transportation to Campfire
. . . take internal bus and ask for Campfire bus stop, otherwise it is a LONG HIKE
. . . ask the bus driver to drop you off at the campfire
5) Time

. . . Fire lighting with Chip-n-Dale at 6:30pm nightly
. . . Sing-a-long starts at 7:00pm nightly

. . . better yet, bring folding chairs
. . . fortunately, they do not grade you on your voice during the sing-along
. . . there is no dress code

. . . coffee, beer, soda, juices available for purchase at the Chuck Wagon
. . . for rain, they move the sing-along, but you will still get wet

NOTE1: We find this to be a really great activity for either the first night at
WDW, or the last night before going home. Good time for family bonding, and
nice to veg-out. Do a Trails End dinner or Hoop-Dee-Do prior to Campfire.

NOTE2: For an option, you could view the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach.
. . . Wilderness Lodge at approx 9:35pm
. . . Fort Wilderness at approx 9:45pm
. . . the parade goes dark if Wishes is at the same time and it is still near MK
. . . then the parade resumes

When you get off the boat at the Fort dock you will walk up past Trails End restaurant to the bus stop (very short walk). You will then take an Outpost Orange marked bus, when the bus comes to the first stop at the 600 and 800 loop bus stop you will get off. Walk across the street to the sidewalk that goes between 2 campers in the 600 loop, this sidewalk will take you directly to the campfire ( again a very short walk). Hope this helps as it is the shortest route to the campfire from the Marina.

Wow, thank you for all of the information. We are not going until Thanksgiving but I like to get all my planning done in advance. I plan on going our last night, I think it will be a neat way to spend our last night.
