First off, none of the Disney Store employees are "Castmembers" yet./QUOTE]
Sounds like you'll aways be a Children Place employee NOT a Disney Castmember. You just don't get it do you?
Secondly, I don't see the harm in any Disney Castmembers sharing opinions even if they are the dreaded negative opinions that get flamed by so many people on these boards./QUOTE]
You don't get the concept of Disney Memories

Disney Castmembers ARE the Company. When you tell the guests they're "SLOBS" and they read it, what kind of message about the Walt Disney Company does that project? Geez, just think before you print negative thoughts about the guests.
Better yet just don't post anything if you're Children's Place and NOT Disney.
In case you misunderstood, you may want to read back to the beginning of this thread, or at least to my first entry here. I AM NOT a Disney Store/TCP employee. I was a TDS Store Manager when Disney owned and operated the stores. (1999-2001).
I have never posted anything negative about Guests to Disney Stores. My comments have always been directed at the stores and/or their employees. Please understand the facts before you make assumptions and assertions.
I understand that you are frustrated that your store may be on the chopping block. I have a strong feeling that you are one of the first of many people who will suffer the same fate. My gut tells me that even after Disney takes the stores back, the majority of them will be liquidated. I know that this opinion is not popular among those of you current employees.
The economy is in the dumps. Retail across the board is hurting big time. TDS has struggled for close to a decade. Remember that ten years ago there were over 700 Disney Stores worldwide. The stores were strong for a while. Disney did not oversaturate the market with too many Disney Stores. They over licensed their product to too many big retailers (K-mart, Walmart, etc.) and that is what hurt their stores.
It used to take DCP 18 months to create new product lines for the stores. With so little time until the "take back" I'm not sure how prepared Consumer Products is to start new once again. This has all the ingredients for a massive liquidation. Of course my opinions are just speculation, but I think it's a pretty good bet that the days of The Disney Store are numbered and I'd be very surprised to see the chain in operation after the next holiday season, if it lasts that long.
I'm sorry for your loss.My store is also one that may end up being closed. How did you find out already about the fate of your store? No one around here seems to know anything (and I'm talking at higher management level - I'm an ASM). I don't want to assume that no news is good news.

I'm so sorry.![]()
May I ask.. how was the news delivered?
We received by Fed-Ex
1. Liquidation Signage
2. Documentation.
God... now I'm really on pins and needles... I'm off today, so I have no idea what's going on in my store, though I'd hope I'd get a phone call if they heard anything. I'm going to call them soon. This is madness, this waiting.![]()
I am a cast member of the Disney Store in Wauwatosa, Wi. We were all excited that pictures were being taken, our store was on the list to be kept and all was well. We were planning our "Welcome Home" party...Most of our cast have been there 10 years or more. We were the 47th Disney Store to open. Last night we were told that the Mall wouldn't negotiate our lease and we would be closing. Talk about being in shock! Where do you take your family of 16 years when they close the doors on you?

We found out yesterday that we will be closing also. Wow, the shock of it all is so overwhelming. It was so hard to tell my managers about this. We also had been excited about the pictures and being part of Disney again. Even though we were on the dreaded remaining list, we were trying to keep the faith. Unfortunately, the boxes of hideous signs that we received today squashed that faith completely. It seems that there is no going back now. All I can do is be there to support my cast who are great and get us through this. My heart goes out to all of those who got this horrible news as we did.
