Children's Menu Eligibility

I am assuming the age for ordering off the children's menu corresponds with the child ticket ages (ages 3-9). I've read conflicting reports about whether the kids menu is just for those ages or they are more flexible. I have an 11 yo who will most order off the adult menu (because his taste buds are geared that way) but he can't eat very much so occasionally the more varied kids menus (like the prime rib at bb) are a better choice. Will they allow him to order off the kids menu?

I'd be interested to know this too, but mainly about prices at the character meals. My son almost always orders from the adult menus now (he'll be 10 next month).

My question, for example the menu for Goofy's kitchen online that I've seen says Kids: 3-9. But then says Adults: 12 and up! Where do the 10 and 11 year olds fall? My son will be 10 on this trip and we'd like to do Goofy's Kitchen, so I was kinda hoping he falls under the kids price still!

We were just there last month with our 10 yr old daughter. At counter service it doesn't really matter and we ordered from the child's menu for her at all the counter service meals. (She is a picky eater w/ a small appetite)
However at the two sit down meals (Ariel's Grotto character lunch and Carnation Cafe) we HAD to order from the adult menu for her. This wasn't too bad at the Carnation Cafe. But the adult portion at Ariel's was way too big (not to mention pricey) and a lot of food was wasted.
She probably could have passed for a 9 yr old, however since we had priority seating they knew her age because they ask when you call in.

cccdisney, that's interesting you had to order her an adult meal at Carnation Cafe. Our 10½ year old always orders from the kids' menu there (and at Cafe Orleans, as well). He also eats off the kids' menu at counter service locations. We've never been questioned about his age.

My son is 11 and he was able to order off the kids menu at Carnation Cafe, but at Blue Bayou, Ariel's, Goofy's, and Storyteller's, we had to pay adult prices.

At sit down places they are more firm about the child's menu. I've ordered at french market, hungry bear and taste pilots from the kids menu with no questions asked.

Ive seen loads of kids about 10 or 11 years old eat off a kids menu in sit down restaraunts. I wouldnt worry about the counter service because I am more of a nibbler and I order kids sized stuff when I go to counter and I am never questioned.

My 10 and 12 y.o. DD's don't have huge appetites, but BB and Hook's Point were very good about splitting one adult entree for them. That was more than enough for each of them. I think they charged a $1.00 plate charge but that was it. If you are an adult who doesn't usually eat a huge meal this might be a good option for you and your child. I know I was so busy, excited and fluttery-stomached anyway I didn't have much of an appetite while I was there.

I think it was because I had made PS at Carnation Cafe and they had asked the ages of the "children" which was 2, 8, and 10. So when we checked in it must have been on the system because they gave her an adult menu. When I asked if she could order off the child's menu she said "no" because she was 10. Maybe this is the one downside of PS?
It really wasn't so bad at Carnation Cafe because she downed her whole breakfast! However at Ariel's Grotto it was a waste of $33! :sad2:
Counter Service is no problem at all. Most of the time my DH is ordering for everybody while we save a table.

I have 2 big boys who sometimes eat more than I can......DS11 if taller then mom and dad already! DS8 will eat from the kids menu at some places , but soem are just too small for him.
DS11 also has the mature taste buds , he loves the 3 chesse monte , most kids would never eat that! I don't mind paying but if you have a kids with a small appetite , I would stick to cs.

I also have an 11 year old DD, who certainly will not eat off an adult menu so it will be tough for us I think. Of course my DD is taller than me and does not look 11 so I suspect we'll have difficulty at the restaurants. I know Goofy's Kitchen and a few other of the character meals have the ages 3-11 and not 3-9 like the rest of the park.

I could swear we paid the adult price for DS11 when we went to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner last November.

me too I paid adult for ds11 in October..........we were celebrating his 11th b-day they knew how old he was:confused3

For buffets, 10 and up pay the adult price. 3-9 pay the child's price. 2 and under are free. The only way for anyone 10 and over to pay the child's price is with a doctor's note with an explanation (like gastric bypass for instance).

Hi there!
Can someone please post the site with the menus again? I can't find it. Thanks!!!

Wow, I'm thinking paying $31 for each of us now, at Goofy's Kitchen is a bit much. When my son was little the bill used to be around $65-70 with everything and I thought that was too much! But for him not believing in the characters anymore, I can't justify over a $100 for a buffet style dinner. Bummer. I'm thinking we'll do another dinner in DTD instead.

Do Disney World menus apply to Disneyland? I can only find info for DW on allears.net
