I've been looking on the internet (with no luck) for ID's that my kids can wear around thier necks while we are at DW. Can anyone recommend a store or website where I can buy them? Or does anyone have any suggestions about a different technique for helping keep the children safe from getting lost?

Thanks.

I bought lanyards at DW and then used the plastic badge holders (Staples). Then I made them cute little name tags with stickers. On the back I wrote "My name is XXXXX. Mom's cell phone number (XXX)XXX-XXXX. Dad's cell phone number (XXX)XXX-XXXX.

They worked well last time. The girls liked to wear them because they were princess stickers. I made new ones for our next trip. We even got a comment from a CM who liked the fact that the girls had some kind of ID on them with cell phone numbers. He said often times it is hard enough for them to get the names of lost children and most often they only know their home number.

I buy Disney princess keychains and put our name/address/cell phone label on the back and attach it to a loop on DD's shorts. (I always make sure she's weariung something with a loop)

At the dollar store you can buy knockoffs of those soft jelly bracelets that are usually sold to raise $$ for many causes. On the reverse I wrote my name and cell# and our resort name. The kids wore them around their ankles. I prefer that to things around their neck. For my DD who is very very very shy, I also took a fabric marker (at the sewing store you can buy black fabric marker that is intended to wash out after a couple washes) and wrote a little message of what she should say if she is lost, or she could show it to whomever 'found' her. I wrote it on the inside bottom of the hem of her shirt, so that if she flipped up the hem of her shirt she could read it. I also have used this at other times to write our ph# on the other kids clothing, it is great, because if you do it on the inside hem, no one else sees it, and it really does wash out after 1-3 washes. We taught our kids that if they are seperated from us, they should stay where they are for a little bit, just stand still and look around, to give DH and I a chance to get back to where we 'lost' them, instead of them running madly around trying to find us, or immediately dashing off to try and find someone to 'help' them.

I put something in DD shoe. This way people don't know her name or info, and she feels safe knowing that if we get seperated she has the info to call me. I usually put my cell #, and our ressie info. Just in case.

I did something similar. I have a Sassaguala Falls lanyard with a badge holder and I made on the computer a card that has a picture of my DD3 and 4 cell phone numbers (mine, DH's, DMom, and DMIL).

I don't put DD3 name on anything. She is old enough to tell the CM's her name and I don't want some random person to see her name on something and call her over to them.

We have always just written down our information on a piece of paper and put it inside our children's shoes (we always make them wear tennis shoes) or in a zippered or velcroed pocket. I hesitate to use something highly visible because they can be easily taken off your child. If it's not as visible then if God forbid someone took them they might not find it and my child will still have the information on them. We have told them if they get lost to go to a mom with kids or a CM and ask them to call us. Our oldest knows our cell phone numbers now so that makes life much easier. We never put our children's names on anything, just ours, so someone can't call them by name and therefore potentially make one of them think we know this person and convince them to go with them.

i bought DD (now 10) a set of dog tags several years ago from armynavy.com for about 5-6 dollars. cheap, effective and w/ the chain tucked in her shirt, you can't even tell it's there really. those things have come in soooooo handy for wdw AND school trips!

We used these. Had them engraved w/ If lost call mom (cell) XXX and If lost call dad (cell) XXX.

Got one for each of our two kids and then an extra pair for back up. Whole thing cost less than $12 including shipping...and they came in less than a week!

I preferred not having anything around their necks on rides, etc... and the shoe ids wouldn't have worked since dd wore her Crocs most of the time.

Oh, ds is only 2yo so I put his on his ankle! :thumbsup2

The only thing with these are they are too common and I would be afraid that a CM would think they were just some I picked up and not pay attention to the fact that they had information on them.
