Never even crossed my mind until a few min ago, but we are planning a Disney cruise in 2007 with our then 4 and 9 year old children. My son is a thrill rider so not to worried about him but have no idea on our daughter who is now only 2. Are children mainly immune to seasickness or not? Were looking at a 7 day but maybe we should strart with a 3????

I've read that children are far less prone to seasickness....Pediatricians often recommend Benadryl for children who do get seasick

I can only give our experience. The older the child, the more you may see more "adult" seasickness symptoms...but it's usually just not an issue with kiddos. (I can give medical reasons why...but I'm trying to keep this short. LOL!) My DD11 complained of the dizzy feeling (which I also had) but nothing that would have kept her from enjoying anything, and it was gone the first full day, as was mine. My DS9 had no issues at all. Our travelling companions had a DD10--no symptoms.

The length of cruise should not make a difference. If you're going to have a problem, it will probably show up in the first 12 hours and then be gone fairly soon--unless there's some really rocky water or something. My DH is EXTREMELY prone to motion sickness but by the second day, he had settled into a nice routine with Drammamine and seabands and fully enjoyed everything for all 7 days. If you're going to be affected at all, you might "lose" the first day and once you have your sea legs, you'd hate to have gone through that for only two more days of fun! (At least that's my .02). :-)

On our first cruise with the children DS was green. I am serious here. You could look at him that first night and see he was green in color. I thought he was going to be sick while dining. I was very concerned. We took him to watch a movie and that was all it took. He had is sea legs and was ready to go.

Second cruise-It was our DD that said she felt bad. I dosed her with daramine and she was fine. Later we found out she has stomach problems. Not sure if she was sea sick or nerves. But she was fine for the rest of the cruise.

I went on a Disney Cruise 4 years ago when I was 10, my brothers 8 and 6, and my cousins 10, 8, and 2 (I think). Not one of us got sea sick, neither did my parents or my aunt and uncle. That was my brothers' and my first time on a boat, period. The one time the boat was rocking was at night when we were walking back from dinner; all of us thought it was a fun ride. I seriously doubt that anyone will get seasick, but it probably depends on the children.
