Not that I've ever done this, of course.

I have friends who hated themselves and couldn't talk to their parents because they were afraid of what their parents would say or do if they came out of the closet. It's no wonder that gay teens have such a high suicide rate. Can you imagine going through all that being a teen requires and being gay and fearing that your friends and family will no longer love you for who you are...tragic.

My brother happened to be visiting and he just about choked on his dinner--we weren't exactly raised that way and would have been disowned if we had of been gay. It will never be an issue between my my children and me (and my DH).Many people once thought the earth was flat. Didn't make them awful, they just had faulty data.TnKrBeLlA012 said:It does bother me alot. I would not say that is awful. I choose not to except that lifestyle. I love this board dearly, but compared to others that I have been on this one is darn near prudish in comparison. I am a very blunt and open minded person, so I have to really watch what I say or type here. Most of the times I don't even bother since I can't or won't say what I'm really thinking. Both of my older daughters are members. They are 11 and 13. They don't post much but love to read. They used to read over my shoulder all the time. The only reason it bothers me that they are on here is because I have to watch what I post about. I can't post anything that I wouldn't want them to know about.WDWMom said:How many of you let your children or teens read the DIS????? Only my DD14 does, but I'm beginning to second guess letting her on anymore. When DH and I first started lurking around the DIS, things we clean and family friendly. Now, I feel like I need to be there with her.
Now I am not an over-bearing Mom. My kids know what swearing is and what and what is not appropriate. I also don't watch their every move. They some independence. But I don't believe here is that place anymore. Why?????
Let's see.... inappropriate smilies, posts that refer to sex, a board for gay and lesbians that is directly below the teen board (nothing wrong with the board I just don't like where it was placed for my teen to find it easily).
Am I the only one that feels this way????

Oh, darn.
You're not going to find any "how to" manuals on that forum or any other place on the DIS. (At least, not if the mods find out about it.
