Hi,

My family is about to make our "first trip home" as DVC members at VWL. :cheer2: Since we have two young children, I'm wondering if any VWL vets have childproofing tips for a 2BR unit. Here are some specific questions I have:

1. What childproofing items should I bring to keep little ones safe there?

2. Can you request a regular crib instead of a pack 'n play for a larger toddler?

3. Does anyone remember how the sliding glass doors are secured? Is there a bar or just a standard lock on the handle? (My 2 year-old is an escape artist, and I definitely DON'T want him to wind up out on the balcony.)

Thanks so much for your help! :goodvibes

We are going in two weeks with two little ones too. I have stayed in the regular WL several times with my older one (now 3 1/2) when she was two and had no problems at all. This time I am bringing a few outlet covers, just in case ( I also have a 1 year old) and one or two night lights. Other than that I think you will be fine. If I remember correctly the balcony doors have deadbolts on them.
If you are really nervous about your escape artist getting out on the balcony when you are asleep, they do sell little alarms that you could put on the balcony door. I think they are around $10.00, they have them at CVS or Target.
Good luck!

As far as a crib goes check out abbf.com (A babies Best Friend) they are a company in Orlando that rents everything you could ever need for your children. We were going to rent a crib from them for our last trip, but had to change it to a toddler bed when dd learned how to climb out of her crib at home. The deliver and pick up to the hotel. They were great and we will use them again in August.
