As I have not been to WDW in about 4 years, How does the child swap work?
(I think when we went in 2002, all we had to do is the first part of the party waited on line, rode the ride, Meet the other half of the family, the second part of the family went up the exit and got on the ride with no waiting.

Does the whole party wait on line? :grouphug:

Is there a special place the person with the kids have to wait?
(At Universal they have little rooms near the exit of the ride)

Is there anything special we need to get in order to parent swap?
(We went to Six Flags today and had to get a "Parent Pass and a handstamp in order to kid swap. Of course we found this out after we tried to do our first swap.)

We are going in August and want to be prepared-

Thanks for the help in advance-

Find the CM at the front of every line and ask. We did DL with a 6-month old and almost every ride had a different procedure. Usually they'd give a Fast Pass or similar ticket to those not riding and one group rode while the other waited - but we had the baby in his stroller so we didn't want to get him out to go through lines or wait "backstage." I don't know if it's different for older kids.

But definitely tell the CM - we got gently yelled at by one for not informing them in advance that we wanted to child swap.

I am wondering about this too. My youngest is 49" tall, so he meets practically every requirement...but he just turned 5 in March. He tall, but immature. Will we be able to utilize this perk since technically speaking he could ride?

Child swap can be handled differently on certain rides so its always best to go to the CM at the entrance and ask about child swap.

Child swap is really meant for those with children under the height requirement so if your child is over the height requirement, they will tell you all to go in the line together and have you swap at the ride itself or possibly swap at the exit (parent with child waiting at the exit) but just ask when you get there. They may even measure the child to see if they meet the requirement. This happened to us at all the rides my 6 year old didn't want to ride (ToT and Splash); they measured her and then told us we all had to go in line together and swap inside (no special child swap pass).

If your child is under the height requirement, most likely they will hand you a special child swap Fastpass that says on it its good for the day, for up to 3 guests so that way the second parent doesn't have to ride alone; maybe an older sibling can ride again. So first one parent rides however they want; either standby or Fastpass, then the second parent uses the special child swap Fastpass.

Best advice, ask the CM when you arrive at the ride.

Thanks! He says he wants to ride everything, but we will see when we get there! We'll just see what happens!
