Child Quick Service Credit - Dessert - Specific ?'s

So, we are surprising our girls, 6 and 14, with a disney trip that is also to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. First time staying onsite (8 trips behind us including honeymoon) first time DDP. I think I have most of the specifics of the DDP down. But, I want to make sure I know what 6 yo DD can get as a dessert at the QS places. Mainly she is a "planner" so I probably will need to give her an idea of her choices (entree) for the upcoming meal that day but also her sister will be able to get a REAL dessert so I'm trying to figure that out too so she doesn't get too jealous. I'm looking ahead because I'm not that huge of a dessert person so if her option is going to be lackluster I can always take a bite of mine and give it to her... But, there are a few places I'm looking forward to, lol.

First question, anywhere it says Fruit or Grapes I can get her a cookie right? She really likes grapes, but getting grapes when your sister gets a chocolate mousse just seems FISHY to me, I don't think I'm pulling it off with a 6 yo. LOL!!

Here are the QS where it is unclear to me:

Pepper Market. It does not list a dessert on the kids meals. Can she just get any of the muffins, cookies, brownies, etc?

Refreshment Port. If I get her nuggets and fries here I am assuming I'm giving up the dessert option? The rest of us are going to do Yorkshire, but not sure if she'll eat the fish. She might but wanted to have close by option. It's fine though because I can at least tell her fish with a cookie or nuggets with none, your choice. LOL! - - - OR, I can just give her my sugar cookie. I don't care about a cookie! Not with France and Germany up ahead.

Order her a meal off the adult menu that way she will get a dessert. We stayed two weeks and ordered our both children meals off the regular menu as the kids menu is often poor choice. No one said a thing. Your meal credits are not separated into child and adults they are pooled x

What we ended up doing once when we were in a similar situation was using a snack credit to get the 'adult' dessert for our youngest. We saved his cookie or grapes for later in the day. I agree that if the rest of the family is getting cupcakes, it's tough to be left out and we always have lots of snack credits to use up.

I would just order a dessert and pay out of pocket if there is nothing on the child's menu that she likes. A previous poster suggests just ordering her an adult meal. Well, that is against the rules of the dining plan. You may get away with doing that if you try, or you may not.

I would pay for an extra adult dessert if necessary.

We've always done this as their is not a specific Child QS line so it was pretty clear to us that Disney allows you to use that QS allowance how ever you please. If not they would specify the correct amount of Child QS appropriately.. The programming to do this would have been negligible.

It is stated very clearly when you purchase the dining plan that when getting a meal for a child you must order off of the child's menu where one is available. It is stated here:

As far as programming goes, it is pretty sad that every little thing needs to be programmed in. That people can't just follow the rules without being forced to do so.

We ordered our Disney package and it would include free dining and that was the end of it.. we look at our ticket stub and it isn't clearly defined on what is being used and a CM never says anything then it all is clearly good. I would even get a print out several times from Concierge to see what we have left and the only thing clearly printed is that their is a Table Service Adult and Table Service Child.

They give you a brochure in your welcome packet.

Ignorance of the rules is no excuse. It is clearly spelled out on line and in the pamphlet you are given. People should take the time to read the information they are given. I can't believe a rational adult would use But I Didn't Bother To Read It as an excuse.

I have to ask how long ago you were able to cheat the system. I'm under the impression that, while in the past the CM was supposed to verify the number of adults and children, now the register will not allow you to redeem more adult meals than you have in your room.

I think we did two packages that includes the DDP. Probably a total of 24 days. Made off like a bandit huh?

Oh i also convinced the CMs to convert all my left over QS to three snack credits so I could take a ton of goodies home AND got the cm at the CR to say I can park there all day.
