Child identification for Disney (inexpensive)

We used to bring a Sharpie. We write our cell phone number on the arm of each child. (Now my kids have Mom and Dad's cell phone numbers memorized - and know which hotel we stay at and all the rest).

We tried tags - lost after the first day. That was when we discovered the ball point pen in the hotel room could be used - and subsquently refined it with the Sharpie.

This is what we did too. We used to put a paper in their pockets, cut this method worked for us...and we never needed it. I think the tattoo idea is great too!

for our trip a couple weeks ago, we used iron on transfers you can print on w/ the computer....I cut them about address label size w/ DS's name and our cell#s in case we got separated. I ironed all of them on the underside of the bottom right side of all of his shirts for the week. DS is 5 y/o. I showed him and explained to him what to do if we became separated and that he could just flip up the bottom of his shirt and show a cast member the tag and they could call us right away. Luckily, we did not need it!!!

Thanks for the good advice. I decided to order the bracelets from

http://www.shanrene.com/custom-wristbands.php

The front says "If lost please call my mom ***-***-****" and the back says "Or my dad ***-***-****"

I am hoping
1) we get them before we leave
2) it fits my 1 year old DS ankle.

2 bracelets with standard shipping cost a little under $8 not bad at all :)

I placed my order for these last week and she said they shipped the next day and should be here soon as we leave next weekend. My 3 yo will be wearing these on her ankle. I brought 3 colors so could which color each day and think they will be great for going to football games and concerts as well.

I like these silicone wrist bands. I had them made for DS and this will be his second trip using them, plus we've used them a couple of times at local events/venues. (I see now that sharlenes has been mentioned - that link is a direct link to the customizer program -- I uploaded Mickey icons to add to DS's bands using that program!)

Here's an image of the 2 bands I got -- DS's name is on one side of each one and my cell number on the other side (front/back not inside/outside).

(blurred my phone number in photo for privacy)

He wears them on his ankle. It is virtually impossible for someone to read them without being a foot or so away from his feet, so I'm not concerned about someone knowing his name etc. (besides, anyone with kids should know their child's name IS public info! "tommy, get back here" "Jane, quit hitting your brother!" "Susan, LOOK! It's Cinderella!" etc etc etc.)

We got one of the 'dog tags' in the park. It's a pink heart with tink on the front. It was very cute but the tink graphic scratches up very easily.

We use the Disney luggage tags they send us. Print out all the relevant info via Laserjet on right dimension paper, slide it into the tag, attach it to a belt loop, belt, jumper strap, button hole, etc.. Cheap and they have a little Disney magic to carry and the CMs (and others) notice the tags. We use one on our stroller to.

Just wanted to update. I got my braclets from Sharene and they are very nice. You can't read what is written on them unless you are practically holding them. So hopefully a CM will see it on their ankle and look for the info.

I ordered these for my DDs when we went in May. I had one as a child and it lasted FOREVER. I still have it. It looks like a medic alert id. Very reasonably priced too. Got it from Makemethis.com

Luckly we have never had to use them.

Chances are, your child will not get lost. Having the bracelet with cell phone numbers on it gave me some peace of mind.

With so many people mentioning http://www.shanrene.com/custom-wristbands.php on DIS, I would be surprised if CM did not look for a bracelet.

We ordered 2 from shanerene last year for less than $8. They shipped very quickly--less than a week and I was very happy with them.

That's what we're using for our trip in 3 weeks. I'm guessing CM's probably will notice the bracelet even if the child can't remember (or in a panic.) They were like 2 bucks each, and I received them within a week. You can also let your child pick the color they'd like. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

My kids love the temporary tatoos. I found blank sheets at Michaels that can be customized with an ink jet printer and used my 40% off coupon. I figure I can use the tatoos with our information and the kids can have tatoos of what they want. I don't have to have extras.

Does anyone else see the humor in tagging your child like a dog? :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

Although it is a great safety idea...nonetheless HILARIOUS!!! :rotfl2:

I am just using what looks like a hospital ID braclet or a braclet you get when you do to an all inclusive resort. You write your info on them and then they can put put anywhere....wrist, ankle, around belt loop, around shoe. Cheap and easy.
