I have not been to Ft Wilderness and unfortunately don't have kiddos yet. Is it not odd that a 9 and 10 year old were riding bikes around with no adults?
I can't speak for Ft. Wilderness but I camp a lot at a park in central Ohio and kids that age and younger are off on their own a lot playing with each other. It is pretty laid back but we also have no buses going through there.
When I was 9 and 10 we were allowed to ride our bikes in our neighborhood all we wanted. There were limits of course as to how far we could go but we would ride to a field at the end of our street and play ball or to our friends house.
It depends on the neighborhood and the traffic. Again, we didn't have buses everywhere. Without knowing the Ft. Wilderness lodge I can't really judge whether it is overly dangerous.
