Child-free, but not by choice?

I seem to recall that some of you are DVC members (but I don't want to go back through all the pages to determine which). Has anyone purchased AKV? If so, I've got a couple of questions I'd like to ask (via pm). Thanks!

On-topic: I'm waiting once again. If this cycle doesn't work I can't do anything next month because I won't be available for the daily bloodwork.

Hello Ladies!!!

Is it the weekend yet? LOL!!! Not too much going on with me right now. I leave for London in 2 weeks (just going for a long weekend), so that it something to look forward too! I'm planning on cycling again next month as well, assuming my trip away doesn't interfere with monitoring, etc. I'm hoping AF won't show up til I get back!

Hematite -- No AKV for me! I hope to stay there at some point though. I'd love to add on more points in the future...hopefully I will be financially ready to do so if/when CRV comes to light!

Suzanne -- Have a wonderful time at WDW!! I think you leave tomorrow, right? I'm sure you'll have a blast!

R Dog Walt -- I think you are still at WDW! Hope you are having a great time!! I'm sure you are!

Missie -- Glad you had a nice trip to the NJ shore! What shore do you go to? We go to Sea Isle/OC mainly, and I used to go to LBI all the time when I was younger. Woo Hoo on DH being home!!!!! You must be in heaven!

Badblackpug -- Thanks for the HUGS!!!!!

I have purchased at AKV so feel free to PM me with any questions that you have.

Yes, we leave in the morning about 6:00am (hopefully). I'm going home in a little while to finish packing (who am I kidding, I haven't even started yet). I am looking forward to the trip, but not to the birthday. I am ready to lose myself in the magic.

"See" ya'll when I get back.

Suzanne princess:

Second, I'm glad you have a doctor's appointment. Some additional information (that I've gotten out of our clinic in the last few years). If your luteal phase is really only 10 days you would be unlikely to carry a pregnancy past the first few weeks without progesterone supplements. (Note: these supplements would delay the frequency with which you could try.) But, I have also learned that temperature tracking only pinpoints ovulation within 3 days. I show an ovulation temperature drop roughly 2 days before my bloodwork starts to show a surge. So, you might easily have a 12-13 day luteal phase which should be sufficient. Take all your charts and ask the doctor to check your hormone levels at all the important times. Good luck!

And, we will look forward to seeing you again once you're over the flurry of your DH's return.

Thanks! I am going to print them all next week to prepare for my doctor's appointment. I hope it goes well but we'll see. I am of course nervous. Ironically the appointment is at 7:30 am and is the day that I can make my ADR's for our December trip. So, I plan to arrive at the doctor's office around 6:55am so that I can sit in my car and make my ADR's on my cell phone. LOL.

I am going to see what I missed while I was gone!

I went to Wildwood Crest with my sister and her family. When I was a kid that is where we vacationed every summer. It was a LOT different then but I still have this soft place in my heart for it. I just love the boardwalk, the rides, the waterpark, the FOOD, lol. It is a ton of fun. They are tearing down most of the hotels now and building Condo's so maybe it will change back to how it was back in the day.

I'm back!!!!

WDW was awesome as always. We stayed at SSR this time in the Congress Park area. It was a great location to be able to walk to DTD or to the main pool. DP and I got lanyards with YOMD pins from the Dream Squad on Friday at Where's the Fire at Innoventions West at EPCOT! We were thrilled!

We also made our reservations for New Years. We had hoped to get OKW but had to take SSR because that was what was available when the 7 month window opened up. I'm kind of glad because I hear DTD has great fireworks on NYE anyway- which would allow us to avoid the parks on that evening. Hopefully, I will be 7 months pregnant and won't want to go out!

My transfer is this Thursday. I stopped the Lupron today and am still taking the Estrace, Vivelle dots, and just added the Prometrium on Friday. I'm trying to focus on all of the positives of this cycle, but I am still scared to death of a BFN.

Hematite- DP and I are DVC members. We did not buy at AKV yet. We did get the packet in the mail with the DVD while we were gone. I keep wanting about 30 more points. (We have 200 now.) However, with all the expenses of TTC I don't think we'll be adding on yet.

Oh and does anyone use Prometrium? I was at an IF support group yesterday and someone mentioned lying down for 30 minutes following inserting the capsule. I used Prometrium for my last 7 IUI/IVF cycles and don't remember doing this. My Prometrium is left over from last cycle and I don't have the patient information. I tried to google the info but didn't see this. I'll have to ask my RE tomorrow. TIA!

Wishing you TONS of luck that this cycle will the ONE!!! I have a friend that is at the same stage of her IVF cycle as you are and will send you both tons of BFP vibes!

I don't have any experience with Prometrium but I am sure someone will be able to help you out.

GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!

I tell you, ya go away for a few days and everyone gets chatty. Now where is everyone.

RDogWalt, how are you?, baby dust being sent your way, I know your transfer was supposed to be today.

Missie, well we all know where you are  :cool1: :woohoo: :cheer2:

alright Nennie and Hematite what gives.

Well I had a really nice time at WDW, after the problems were resolved. We arrived about 2:00 pm on Thursday and proceded to check in, well the CM was having problems printing our keys, well come to find out OPs had given our room to someone else that was checking in at the same time. Our CM called and got another clean room arranged and printed our cards, so off we go to our room. I had of course called a week before and requested a room close to the parking lot because my mom has mobility issues, but they put us on the 3rd floor, problem was that it was far away from the elevator and you had to walk from the parking lot to the center of the building for the elevator and back all the way down the hall to the room (mom can't do stairs). okay we'll deal, until I opened the door to the room and the smell of smoke would knock you right to the ground floor. I call back to the front desk and had a little prayer meeting with the CM who asked us to come back down there. Well I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke and was already having allergy issues from the fire smoke from the week prior. Well the nice Cm went and talked to someone and got us moved to a building that had never been a smoking building and to the first floor close to the parking lot. the only other complaints I had were the height of the bed, it was so high I could have used a stepladder and the size of the bathroom. My skinny minnie cousin had to almost get in the bathtub to close the door. We were at AS Movies. The food was great everywhere we went. We ate at the food court several times. We borrowed a wheelchair for mom one time and they let us use it for no charge (I have read that they sometimes charge a deposit). I am again going to change my resort for our trip in August to the Pop Century. The MK was great and I got to ride the Carosel of Progress and Dumbo for the first time ever. Mom and I got to have our picture taken with Ariel and she was sooo sweet. Birthday Breakfast at CP was out of this world. we got into the park about 8:00am and went and took pictures while the park was empty, then checked in at CP about 8:10am and even though our reservation was for 9:00am, they took us right on in. We stayed until about 1:00pm then went back to our resort and had lunch, a swim, and a nap before heading back to the MK for EMH and we stayed until 2:00am. It started raining just as we left our room to head back to the park, but by the time the bus picked up mom and I, the rain had stopped and they rest of the evening was so comfortably cool.

Well enough for now I have to check on supper.

Just booked our WDW today for this July 18-24. We'll be there for my 35th birthday!!!:cool1: DH is not very happy about going back, since we were just there last year, but I figure if I'm going to turn 35 and still not have any kids, then I'm going to Disney World, like it or not!!! :p What do you think???:)

Hello All!

Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? We are going to the shore tomorrow to do a little surfing and walk the boardwalk. We are laying low on Sunday, as Father's Day will be a little rough. Last Father's Day we announced we were pregnant at a family party (this was the pregnancy that resulted in our son who was stillborn) and it was such a happy day for us and our whole family. This year won't be as happy...I promise not to get super depressed, but I just want to be with my DH and no one else.

In less depressing news (LOL), we leave on Thursday for London. I'm really excited! We will only be there for 4 days, but will be visiting my friend (she's American, but married a Brit) and on 6/24 we are going to the Bon Jovi concert in London, so that will be fun!

Still debating on what to do about my Sept trip to WDW. Sept is usually our "long trip" (Jan and May are usually just long weekends), and we have it booked for 8 days. I'm thinking about shortening the trip for 4 days, and saving the vacation time to go to NYU for an IVF#3. Decisions, decisions! I'm planning on doing more follistim/IUIs in July and August, but if they don't work, I really don't want to do IVF#3 with my current RE, and I think I owe it to myself to get my butt up to one of the top clinics. I'd better make a decision soon so I can cancel and re-book using my DVC points!

Starr -- I think WDW is the perfect choice for a b-day celebration!! Even if DH isn't thrilled, it's your b-day, so you get to decide! LOL!!

Suzanne -- Welcome Back!! Sorry we were all quiet while you were away! Glad you had a great time at WDW, despite the rocky start! Have you ever looked into renting DVC points? You can usually rent points and stay in a studio for the same price as POP century. If you stayed at Boardwalk or Beachclub your mom wouldn't have to deal with the buses as much if she used a wheelchair again. Can you tell I love DVC and want everyone to convert? LOL!!!! Check out the DVC rent-trade board sometime!

R Dog Walt -- Welcome back to you as well!!! So glad you had a great stay at SSR. I haven't stayed there yet, but want to try it out! Sounds like it will be a great location for NYE, and hopefully you will be 7 months pregnant, and won't be hitting the parks too much anyway!! As for the prometruim, I was never told to lie down afterwards. Good thing to, b/c last cycle I was up to 3capsules a day, so I would have done a lot of lying down! LOL!! How is your 2WW going? When is beta? My fingers are crossed for you!!!!!!!!

Missie -- Yeah, I love the NJ shore too!! Going to Ocean City tommorrow! So did you have your RE appt yet? How did it go???

Hi all. Sorry to be so quiet. My last cycle didn't work (again!) and I've been kinda depressed--and sick again! I'm heading to Michigan next week for a 4 week job at a summer camp so I may be out-of-touch. (I may have internet access but it isn't something that I can count on.)

The advantage (sort-of) to going away is that I'm forced to take a month off. I have fibromyalgia and my body has been protesting the fact that I haven't invested any energy into dealing with that for the past year. So, for the month, I will continue making sure I get my folic acid but will otherwise focus my vitamin intake on the fibro. I have a serophene prescription to take when I start bleeding and I'll quit the fibro stuff at that time which should give 2 weeks to clear stuff out before my next attempt. However, I'm hoping that getting my system under control for a month will help me deal with the stress of everything.

I'm glad you both (R Dog Walt and PrincessSuzanne) both had good wdw trips. The smoky room problem is something I fear greatly. I'm glad they sorted it out for you.

We're working on planning our ADRs for our Jan family trip and getting excited about our Sept. trip--disney obsessed? Noooo--can't be!

Nennie, I wish you well this weekend. I'm sure it will be a tough time but it's good that you are planning to spend it quietly together. Going to an expert for IVF#3 sounds like a good idea. Good luck deciding what to do.

Lately, I keep finding myself thinking that we should try IVF. The catch is, my clinic still thinks that IUI ought to work. They'll probably send me back to my dr (to assess treatment strategies) after the next cycle so, I guess I'll ask her about it then--unless I get lucky the next time.

Thanks for the conversation and the pressure-less support!

Wow! A chatty group yesterday and today!

Thanks for remembering about the transfer. Overall, it went well. They thawed the 2 donated embryos (which were blasts) and did assisted hatching on both. Embryo #1 did great and was hatching by the time they did the transfer. Embryo #2 had some damage from freezing/thawing, but the embryologist felt like it might have a chance so we went ahead and transfered both. I'm trying to stay excited and visualize positive things and trying to remember that this is the closest my body has EVER been to pregnant! My beta is next Friday the 22nd!

Suzanne- Glad you had a nice trip despite some issues. I'm surprised about the smoke because I thought that ALL rooms at WDW were non-smoking now. I guess some people don't listen and I'm sure the stench stays for a while anyway! I'm glad that the CM got it sorted out for you. I love the CP but have never been for breakfast. May have to do that with my 2 year old cousin who will be coming with us in December/Jan.

Starr- 35th birthday at WDW sounds awesome! You totally deserve it. Where are you staying?

Nennie- I totally understand that this weekend will be hard for you. I'm glad you have London to look forward too. Sounds like a blast! Oh I did ask the nurses at my RE's office about the Prometrium. You are supposed to lay down for 30 minutes afterwards. Ooops- didn't do this for my last 4 IUIs! I have to do it 3 times a day too. :( She said to get up early and do one and then lay back down for 30 minutes and do it right before bed. She said the mid day one is a crap shoot. If you can sit down with it great, but if not no biggie!

Hematite- Sorry about your latest negative! I always think that maybe it will get easier, but it only gets harder. I'm glad your body will have a little bit of time to relax and take a break.

As for IVF, I'm thankful we did it. My RE also told me there is no reason why IUIs shouldn't work for me. I had great test results, produced beautiful follicles, etc. We did 6 injectable IUIs for that reason. I am so glad we did the IVF if only because it's such a great diagnostic. We would never have known about my severe egg quality issue had we not done the IVFs and gotten poor fertilzation rates (with donor sperm!) and embryos that puttered out at Day 2. I'm definitely NOT saying that this is your problem but IVF does have a way of seeing things in a way that you would never know without doing it. If only all insurances paid for IVF. (Then we'd be $20,000 richer!)

Oh and I forgot to mention!!!

So we've already got our tripped planned for NYE through early January, but DP now wants to go in November. We have a day off for state teachers meetings on November 9th so DP wants to make a long weekend of it.

It's the end of the Food and Wine Festival (which we've always wanted to do), and it's Super Soap Weekend! I'm totally a General Hospital fan!!

Bad news is: We're completely out of DVC points (we're totally borrowed out for 2008 already!). But this will also give us an opportunity to stay somewhere new, so that's a plus!

Good Morning everybody. :goodvibes IT IS FRIDAY TGIF. I added a pic to my signature from my birthday breakfast.

Starr, go for it baby, that is the only reason we went to WDW last week was to celebrate my 34th birthday and it was wonderful. I don't have to worry about DH though he is always up to going to WDW and we are taking a DH and DW only trip in August to celebrate his birthday. Mom says she will be glad to be home alone for a few days. Well she is going to be furbaby sitting.

Nennie, I have actually thought about buying into DVC, but we really can't afford that, looks like I am going to have to buy my grandmother's house so that I can keep it in the family, so DVC is out. I am leary about renting points because it is sort of a trust issue, but I might give it a second thought. My mom really wants to stay at the WL next December. She won't be going in August when we stay at Pop (oops forgot to change reservation last night). Eventually, Maybe I can rethink buying DVC, because it is nothing to go for a long weekend for us, only a 6 hour drive and I usually sleep all the way anyway.

Hematite, have fun at summer camp, I've never been to one of those before, not even as a child.

RDog Walt, I am so happy :yay: and excited  for you, I feel a baby in your near future. I have heard that you should eat fresh pineapple even the core, it helps the baby stick better and several women on another thread said it worked for them. We love the CP, especially for breakfast, except they don't have Mickey waffles. Your 2yo cousin will love it especially if he/she likes Pooh characters. All rooms at WDW are smoke free now, but either someone didn't get the message or it is still just in the room and that is a hard smell to get rid of. I can smell a cigarette a mile away anyway, can't smell much else, but that repulsive smell I can definitely smell.

I would love to go for Super Soap weekend, I have been a AMC fan since I can remember watching television. Mom said that she might like to try MNSSHP one time. We really need to buy DVC, now how to win the lottery :rolleyes1 , oh, then we could afford to go the India and do IVF, much cheaper than US and very reputable.

Well I better get back to work, I haven't dont much this week, I haven't had much of a voice and I have to make alot of phone calls.

Talk at you all later.

Suzanne princess:

Oh and if any of you DVC owners could explain about the cost, because I'm not sure if I am figuring it out correctly and would 150 points be enough for 3 adults to go probably for one week a year and a long weeked or a few days in the middle of a week. Please PM me if you don't want to share "out loud". I really want to go for it.

Suzanne princess:

WARNING--- LONG!!!:rolleyes1

Suzanne- NO Mickey Waffles! What a shame!! Those are DP's favorite!

In regards to DVC, I don't mind sharing out loud. I think the minimum # of points now from Disney for a new contract is 160. Points go for a certain price per point (I think right now it's for like $100 per point). You can also sometimes get a deal- like so much per point off. We bought in at a great time and got $15 per point off at HHI and $10 per point off at BCV. I think the incentives are more like $8 credits now. So the initial investment would be like $15,000 or so which you can finance for 10 years (we did this at first and then paid it off after like 2 years). Then you also pay "dues" every year, so much per point. We have 200 points and I think that we pay like $800 per year (I'm guessing b/c we pay each month and have two separate contracts so I'm not sure on the numbers).

Studios accomodate 4 people and usually have a queen bed and a sofa sleeper. They also have a mini kitchenette (microwave, sink, small refrigerator). For 160 points, you could probably get a week plus each year in a studio (it depends on the season). Last year in early June, we stayed at Saratoga for 7 nights for 112 points in a studio. Premium times cost more points, and some times are down right cheap in terms of points! There are also larger accomodations like 1 bedrooms (sleep 4), 2 bedrooms (sleep 8), and Grand Villas (sleep 12).

We try to get the most we can out of our points. We usually stay Sunday through Thursday evenings since these are cheaper. The weekends (Friday and Saturday) are double the points. We can actually get almost 3 weeks a year on points if we don't do weekends. I just rented points to my friend for Sunday to Thursday in early June and it was 60 points for the studio. Sometimes if we are traveling on a day, we'll stay somewhere else and pay cash for the first night (especially if it's Friday or Saturday) and then check into DVC. (The trip we just went on we stayed Friday night at POR and then checked in to Saratoga on Saturday. We stayed Saturday through Thursday night for 86 points. If we had added Friday it would have been 112. Since we were "saving" for NYE it made more sense to stay at POR especially since it was a travel day.

For us, it's been WELL worth the money. $15K seems like a lot (especially now- we bought in before the whole IF thing), but it's a great investment if you'll go to Disney every year.

Here's my suggestion- lurk and ask questions at the DVC boards here on Disboards. I've learned a lot that way!

Also, when you go in August for DH's birthday, sign up for the tour. They'll treat you like royalty and definitely make you want to buy in (but they really don't pressure you which is nice too)! You can talk to any of the kiosk people in any park or resort, and they will provide transportation to/from Saratoga for your tour. Even if you don't buy, it's neat to see! I think they even feed you ice cream!

P.S. I love Saratoga (well and all of the DVC resorts), but the AKV rooms are to die for! We saw the previews (which are actually on display at Saratoga in their theater). I almost bought more points right then. Too bad this whole IF thing is hurting our pocketbook.

Suzanne- Sorry that was so long (Can you tell we love DVC?). If you don't understand any part of it, please PM me and I'll try to clarify!

We are chatty today! LOL!!

So I pulled the trigger, called DVC Member Services, and shortened our trip in September. We're now doing 4 days, 3 nights...but at least we are still going! I figure that will save my vacation time if I want to go up to NYU to cycle, and in the event that I get pregnant before I need to go to NYU, then it will save us points and I can bank them to splurge next year on a Grand Villa for the baby's first trip!!

Hematite -- I'm sorry your last cycle didn't do the trick. How many IUIs have you done? Have you had decent follicles? The only reason I ask is b/c your RE seems to want to stick with the IUIs, but I couldn't remember how many you've already done. One of these days we will be at WDW at the same time, as I'm always there in Jan and Sept too!

R Dog Walt -- I can't wait to check out the AKV model!! I didn't realize they had a model at SSR when I was there last month, or I would have gone over to see it. I heard the rooms are huge! I want to stay there, but I'm still holding out for CRV for my add on! LOL!! Not that I have the money right now anyway!!

Suzanne -- I can't say enough great things about DVC either!! I usually do the Sun-Fri thing too, to maximize my points! I have 175 points, and we go 3 times a year. We usually stay in a studio, but last year we splurged and got 2 2-bedrooms and brought down both of our families, so each family had their own 2BR suite. Definitely take the tour, and take advantage of the DVC transportation (DVC will pick you up from any park, and drop you off at any park), which is so much better than the buses! When we did the tour, we also got super fast passes to make up for the lost park time while taking the tour!

Nennie- Love the Grand Villa idea for baby's first trip! We did the GV one trip with DP's family. It was great!
