Child counted as adult at Paradise Pier?

My DIL is booking Paradise Pier through a runDisney travel agent. We had a quote for 2 adults then added my granddaughter who will be 11 when we travel. The travel agent then said it would be an additional $25 per night for a 3rd person. I know at WDW a third adult increases the room cost but not adding an 11-year-old. Is DLR different? I am assuming that like WDW my granddaughter will be a Disney adult for tickets and dining. If I'm right that my granddaughter should not increase the room cost, should I be worried that the travel agent is perhaps not one we should continue with? She's just providing a 5k bib for my granddaughter and making the room reservation so we can get the runDisney rate for Paradise Pier. Can a lot go wrong with something so simple?

I just did a mock booking at Paradise Pier. The price for 2 adults was the same as 2 adults and 1 11 year old. If this is the first issue you've run into with your TA, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and just ask why there's a charge. There may be some reason (like extras for a third person, regardless of age due to the special event).

In our experience a third, fourth or fifth adult has never added to the cost at DLR. Personally I've never seen the need for a TA for DLR BUT I've never done a Disney Race. Maybe get a quote from a different DLR Race TA to put your mind at ease that the TA you currently have knows what they're doing. Also you can look at the Disneyland website to see general public prices if you're ever afraid you're being overcharged.

If your booking a room only rate it shouldn't increase the cost even if you are getting a roll away. We booked for 6 at the DLH and the added 2 more and the cost was the same, the only issue is you have to stay under the max per room person. Could the extra charge be for something other than the room?

You can have up to 5 people in a DLR hotel and it the same rate with one as it is with five.

What run? If it's for Star Wars light side, Acclaim Travel (http://patstonetravel.com) doesn't seem to require a hotel to get a 5K. If for Tink, though, they do seem to require it. Not sure about the rate, though.

That's interesting that you've never had additional charges for additional adults. WDW does charge for more than 2 adults in most rooms. I never use a TA but to get the runDisney rate, we had to go through somebody. My DIL had been helped out by this gal, so wanted to give her some extra business. PP shows no availability for our dates right now and a couple of weeks ago, it was almost $100 more to book directly through Disney.

I saw the TA email and it was specifically related to adding a 3rd person to the reservation. But maybe the TA is confusing it with the more than 2 adults at WDW additional charge.

It's for the Tinkerbell in May. A hotel wasn't required but the PP rD rate was getting into the same ballpark as the Courtyard at Theme Park Entrance, which we were debating. I enjoyed my HoJo stay a year ago and would definitely stay on Harbor again -- particularly for a park focused trip. But my DIL is running the 5k, 10k and Half and all the rD stuff seems to be happening right near PP. When we added my GD to the trip, it tipped the scales to staying at PP rather than on Harbor. With the sleeper sofa, each of us will have our own bed. Plus it's a close walk for my GD and I to Chear my DIL for her 10k and Half. We're paying for convenience but my DIL is doing the coast-to-coast (Princess + Tink) because a few weeks after Tink, she turns 40. Also my GD is in her last year of elementary school and we're making it special for her as she's been running 5ks for about 2 years. This will be a fun celebration of what she's accomplished with her running and moving up to her next level of schooling. So it's a splurge but we're celebrating a couple of big events. This will also be the first DLR trip for both of them. So I want them to have a really great time.

Maybe because of the discount they're charging for more than 2. But you should still ask.
