When we go to the World next year we would like to take our DS6 to see La Nouba. We would like to not have to drag our 16 month old son to the show. What are my options for in-room child care? (We are staying at the Contemporary). I have done a little research and heard about Fairy Godmothers-has anyone out there used them? Are they Disney-run? Both of my children have only been left with family when we need babysitting, so I think I would only be comfortable leaving my son with someone who is employed by Disney.
Also, how would they occupy a 16 month old? I mean, he won't have his toys from home with him obviously. Do they bring activities? Will they put him to bed for us?

Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

We had a Fairy Godmother on our trip; she was costly but fine :) Mr. FFerret and I needed one night out ALONE. They aren't Disney employees at all, but they are Disney-friendly I guess you could say.

They bring age-appropriate things (toys/games, etc.), and will put children to sleep. The only thing they can't do that I know of is give baths.

Hope this helps; any question just ask!

We have yet to do the Cirque--looks like a blast!

I just got back from three nights at the Poly - we used Kids Nite Out twice. Joyce, a wonderful retired woman, came and took care of our fourteen-month-old both times. She brought books and toys, played with him, and got him to sleep.

I'd highly recommend KNO! They aren't Disney employees, but they do have the Disney in-room child care contract.

I think some people take a neice or family friend to be "nanny" during the trip. It's a great way to share a vacation with someone who may not be able to afford one on their own.

Grandma is great to have along too!

We just got back a couple of days ago. Sunday night, we used Kids Night Out. Our sitter was Eleanor, a grandma type.

She brought a duffel bag full of age & gender appropriate toys. My older ds was thrilled w/ her car & truck selection - LOL.

I'd definitely use KNO again. No complaints at all.

We used Kids Nite Out and were completely happy. Eva Rodriquez (?) came on time and spent some time sitting with us asking questions about his routine and our rough plans about where we were going. You don't have to tell them when you'll be back.

DS was not sleeping in the crib (REFUSED) but rather with us and we just said do what you can, we don't expect anything with his sleeping. She pulled out her toys and started playing w/ him and then distracted him and we left. Had a wonderful time out and returned around 11:30 and she had made a pallet on the floor w/ blankets and he was sound asleep and she was curled up on the couch readning.

None of the Child care services are Disney employees but KNO service does have the "official" contract and have to go through Disney service standard training. Criminal background/fingerprint check, CPR etc.

KNO has a website too. I think you'd be happy with eith KNO or Fairy Godmothers which always gets good reviews.
