Child (ages 3-9)

I just think they should change the names of the ticket types to avoid irritation over the subject. Call ages 3-9 a "Junior" ticket and 10 and up "Regular" or maybe something more original. Forget the child/adult distinction.

I agree. There would be a lot less complaining (at least on the boards, LOL) if people weren't told the "reason" tickets were priced as they are. No one actually considers 10 an adult. Having a "child's price" that applies only to 9 and under is just an invitation to argue over the definition.

IMHO, Disney should just say that the price of admission is $$ XX for everyone, but they offer a x% discount to guests 9 and under.

I like that idea. I knew that we could get some good creative juices flowing on this and come up with some better alternatives. Too bad that Disney imagineering was not extended to this issue, but we have some ad hoc imagineering going here.

I like 10 being an adult ticket better than I like height being the sole price factor. My DS (almost 5 now) was 48" tall on his 4th birthday. While he may have been "capable" of riding all the roller coasters at 6 flags, he was in no way ready for them.

My dd is small. She wasn't able to ride the 42" rides until she was 5, that was 2 yrs of me paying for her when she couldn't ride any of the "bigger" rides, but boy did she want to. She is a little dare devil. I could understand if she just missed it when she was she was 3, but for 2 yrs I had to pay. When we go in August, she will just be shy of turning 8 and I am hoping she will be tall enough to ride the 48" rides, she is 47.5" with sneakers on right now, so I am hoping she grows a little bit. Growing for her is a rare occasion. I would much rather pay by height.

carone,

I agree with you. My DS is 7 1/2 and just went on TOT and Summit Plummet for the first time 2 weeks ago, and he was 6 before he even rode the 42" rides. Some might say he was having more fun than when he was under 3 but actually he was having less because he was the only one NOT riding the fun stuff. Nothing like being told by your older syblings how much fun something is and you can't do it.

What's truly funny is that in a year I'll have a "adult" child for park admission....then one "child" and a one year old "infant". So I have 3 children....but only one of them is actually a "child" by Disney standards! It used to amuse me that they called my then 2yo an "infant"....but now that she's a child, its soon time for my oldest to be an "adult".

I'll just continue to be happy that the baby will visit the parks and eat for free for a few years!

As someone else said....the price of 5 AP's (even with 2 as children) is a lot! We just made the jump from 2 adults and one child to needing the second child's ticket and that was enough of an increase....and it will just keep going up until we need 5 adult passes. Ouch.
